I booked this motel because it was cheap but had excellent reviews on hotels.com. I also paid for two nights. About ten minutes before we arrived someone tried to call me from the hotel but I didn’t answer because it costs a lot to answer my phone in the US and we were almost there anyway. When we arrived we were taken aback by the outside. However I was assured by the positive reviews. We went inside and the whole front desk area is encased in plexi glass. So now I am thinking this can’t be good. The guy behind the desk was very hard to hear and had a strong accent so I had trouble communicating with him. I told him someone had called from the hotel but he didn’t seem to know anything about it. As I was asking if this area was safe, a gentleman walked in and identified himself as the maintenance man. He assured us it was safe and that they had just renovated the rooms and put in marble showers etc. So we checked in and went to the room. On first glance it appeared relatively clean although my husband insisted we go out and buy our own towels. So we left and did some shopping and had dinner and then went back. (I did lift the sheets and the mattress appeared to be in very good condition). So, now it’s late and we are tired so I grab a pillow off the other bed and prop myself up on it while I am on my iPad and hubby is watching a hockey game. When I go to sleep I throw the pillow over to the other side of the bed and go to sleep. My husband refused to climb under the covers until it simply got too cold in the room not to. I had the heat set to 73 and it was freezing in there. The bathroom area doesn’t have any heaters in it so it was even colder! I got up in the morning and had a shower and when I got out hubby tells me he didn’t sleep all night. He tells me to look at the pillow that I had been leaning on last night. I flipped the pillow over and, although the pillow case was clean, you could clearly see what appeared to be a large blood stain until the pillow case. Well we packed up the car right then. I went into the office and told them we were not staying for another second. I figured I would take the hit on the money. There was no way I was staying there. This time the same guy was behind the desk but also a lady who told me that she would let the manager know. I figured that would be the end of it however, to their credit, the manager did contact me Shortly after and apologized. It was actually he who had tried to call me the day before as they were going to move us to their hotel down the road (America’s best value ). He informed me that he would contact hotels.com and refund my second night and that is exactly what happened. So that was the good thing about this whole experience and I appreciate their quick response however, I will never stay there again!
