Batcke's Baldwin Creek Lodge is nestled on the banks of the historic Baldwin River, a quarter mile south of downtown Baldwin. We are just minutes from world class year round fishing, hunting, canoeing, hiking, bicycling, ATV/ORV trails, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, golfing and dog sledding. There are also many great restaurants and shops a short drive from our place. In each room guests will find: cable television, wireless internet, coffeemaker (coffee included), small refrigerator, desk, dresser, beautiful log furniture and hand carved trout benches, full bathroom, wireless internet and air conditioning. We have recently put ceramic tiles and new Serta mattresses in many of our rooms. We have picnic tables, grills and fire pits throughout the property for guests to enjoy as well as a horseshoe pit and fish cleaning station. We have a walking and snowmobile access trail allowing guests to ride right from the lodge.

Fishing was great! Best Steelhead fishing in Michigan. But the best part was the owner and his staff. We are from Tennessee and had no idea how cold it could be there. The owner noticed we were inadequately prepared for it and offered the use of more appropriate attire . This normally would have been above and beyond, but when I forgot critical medicine on the fishing trip our guide called the owner and he had my medicine brought out to me. I can't say enough about the accommodations and caring staff! This was a trip of a lifetime. Guide and owner are fantastic!

What a Terrible experience, Run from this place. The host/owner was very rude and out of control. I had family come in from multiple states to meet up and have a family / fishing experience . It was planned for months and we had the most terrible experience ever. After unpacking and getting settling in to the cabin that we rented the owner came to visit with us to discuss the next day fishing trip we booked through him. His staff originally booked our fishing trip for 2 to 3 people and a guide. We were quoted $425 for 2 and $100 more for an additional fisherman. So the owner came over and was upset because we wanted to take 3 fisherman, his guide said that he refused to take 3 and would only take 2. After we all discussed this We decided this it wasn't going to work if only 2 could go with the guide. So we advised the owner we wanted to cancel guide trip because it wasn't going to work. Well this upset him so much that he became outraged and began yelling swearing and demanding us to pack our stuff up immediately leave the property. It got so bad that we had to call the police because we were in fear the he was going to do more then just yelling and screaming. We got out of there and was glad to see the police come and watch over the crazy owner. Do yourself a favor and do not deal with Baldwin Creek Lodge or any cabins he's associated with. We moved a few miles to Red Moose Lodge, where they put us up in a cabin And took care of us. They have cabins near the river and great accommodations.

When you’re in Baldwin Michigan either summer, fall, winter or spring, this is the place to stay. All the rooms Ive stayed in have a cabin flavor and most of all they are clean. The owners and staff are responsive to what ever your needs are. They have accommodations for all group sizes from the husband and wife to the big groups. If you’re into fishing, what ever time of the year they can hook you up with the best guides in michigan for a fishing experience you will never forget. When in Baldwin I recommend Batcke’s Baldwin Creek Lodge

I’ve stayed at Batcke’s many times (as have many people I know) and it compares very favorably to other places I’ve stayed at in Michigan and across the US on fishing trips. The price is reasonable, the rooms are clean with comfortable beds, fridge, microwave and coffee maker, the showers are hot with plenty of decent towels and there is even free Wi-Fi; in short everything you need when you are fishing, hunting or snowmobiling in Lake County. The rooms have a rustic charm and while everything isn’t brand new, it all works and no-one will care if you wear your waders in the room! Mike, the owner, can arrange for excellent guides for fishing or bird hunting (book well in advance for peak seasons) and will give advice to people who want to hunt and fish on their own. If your expectations are unrealistic (for example a Sandals Resort or The Fairmont Plaza in New York at less than 1/10 the price) you might be disappointed, but Batcke’s Baldwin Creek Lodge is the ideal place to stay for a weekend fishing or hunting or as a place to lay your head while passing through.
