I would definitely recommend staying at the Birchwood Inn when you visit Northern Michigan. My fiancé and I and a group of friends rode our motorcycles from southwest Michigan up to Harbor Springs to ride the tunnel of trees and see the colors. The Birchwood Inn is right on the tunnel of trees and set in a beautiful, quiet, country...

Older motel on the outskirts of town. Very clean and friendly. Breakfast room very pleasant. Nice chit chat with other guests. Like a B and B in that respect. Would love to come again in winter. Rooms nicely decorated in woodsy motif.

We found this Inn to be a relaxing stay. We stayed in the patio rooms. Vaulted ceilings, paneled walls, 50's tile-immaculately clean, updated spreads, comfy chair, comfortable patio & pool, large room. Very lovely countryside on the Tunnel of Trees road. Reasonable, quiet, will stay again.

Want to step back in time and relax at the lodge? Nothing new or fancy but totally charming. The owners have worked hard to maintain the integrity of this 1960s retreat for the New Era Chip company. The rooms are quaint and clean. The innkeepers gave us a warm welcome and made us feel right at home. Some may not...

Very quaint and rustic. The rooms are clean but the whole resort is in desperate need of updating and remodeling. The online price was fair. The pool is not in the best shape and I would not recommend swimming because the floor is chipping away. On the plus side the surrounding is beautiful.

This is an older motel north of Harbor Springs. We booked at the last minute for a summer weekend. The room did smell a little musty as others have mentioned but it was clean. As is typical with older motels, there is a shortage of electical outlets but we were able to get out phones and devices charged. We had...

We stay at Birchwood anytime we're in the Petoskey/Harbor Springs area. We just love the unpretentious charm of the place. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious and they're pet-friendly. There's an open common area where you can bbq, walk, relax, sunbath or read a book. The pool is clean and quite nice. The staff is VERY friendly and...

I am in a "cottage room" on back of large courtyard. This will be my third night here. The birds are singing in the large shade trees. The room is exactly as pictured on the website, but the surroundings are so much nicer than expected. The staff is very helpful. Built in the mid 1950s, if memory serves, of course...

This hotel looks NOTHING like the website! It looks cute, cozy and nice but let me tell you it was anything but. The grounds were unkept & overgrown, the pool was disgusting (unswimable), there was no cell signal unless you stepped out of your room, the carpets in the rooms were stained and gross, the rooms smelled musty, we needed...

I'm so sorry that your trip to the Birchwood Inn did not meet your expectations. I am particularly disappointed because your stay coincided with extensive interior and exterior renovations at the Inn which will provide major upgrades for the comfort of all future guests. As a result of this process, we did not put our best foot forward for your...

We arrived to a dilapidated, run down place. We gave them the benefit of the doubt & checked in & looked at the room. The carpet was matted & pilled. It obviously was a smoking room. COUGH! We ran as fast as we could. This made the Bates Motel look good.
