The worst!!! They have cockroaches!!!! Don’t stay here!!!!!! They give excuses for crappy & dirty rooms! There is always people fighting or arguing outside that wakes everyone up! They do take animals, & you can tell...the rooms are covered in hair & smell like wet dog! Then there is dog poop all over outside! Save yourself the trouble and stay elsewhere!

We stayed for three nights with our two dogs due to our bathroom being renovated. WoodSpring is one of the only pet friendly hotels in the area and the price is reasonable! We new prior to making the reservation there was no coffee maker in the room, so we purchased a cheap one to bring with us. ( I mean coffee is essential, right? ) The room was clean, basic, and the staff was friendly and courteous and it was generally quiet. Our biggest complaint? The laziness of some pet owners that did not pick up after their dogs. The feces is mounting and there will soon be more of that than grass to walk the dogs on. Whether the guests pick up it up or someone else that is hired to do it, it does need to be picked up. It makes the property look bad!, it could be tracked into the hotel, and leaves responsible pet owners no clear place to walk our pets :( Otherwise our stay was comfortable.

When you drive by this place, it looks like a very nice place. If you read the reviews I’ve posted, you may notice that no matter what, I try to promote the good in places I visit. I would like to do that for WoodSpring but there is not much good I can say. I was in Kalamazoo for a 3 day class being held at WMU School of Medicine (Wmed) I understand this is an extended stay hotel. To me that should mean people working out of town staying for a week or maybe a little longer. Not people living in the rooms. I checked in and inquired why my nightly rate was almost twice the advertised rate online. I was told it was because I was only staying 4 nights and the online rate was the nightly rate for 7 nights. Even their sign advertised $299 weekly and I was being billed $333 for 4 nights. After overpaying for my room, I had to pay an extra fee for wifi which I needed to do prepare for the next days classes. Clean towels, if needed were an extra fee. The outside looked nice and new. From what I can tell they have fixed up the outside somewhat recently. But the minute I walked in there was a heavy odor of marijuana throughout the building. I got to the 4th floor where my room was and it smelled like someone had been cooking fish every day I was there. Most of the time, there were some fairly unsavory looking individuals that would just hang out by the main entrance. The ladies would not leave the building without me. Often, while these men were standing outside, cars would pull up and talk to the people for a minute then drive away. Make of it what you wish. The room itself was adequate to stay warm and dry and had a place to sleep and shower. It was poorly cleaned and not well maintained. The tub/shower didn’t drain properly. The shower itself had a lot of rust colored staining on it - but when the shower was turned on, I had to run the shower for a good 3 minutes to clear rusty water to get clean water so I could shower. Next to where the TV was located - on the floor where the carpet met the wall, there was a substance in a line approximately 6-7” long and quite thick. It was obviously noticeable. The the whole room had dog hair all over it. Not just a little bit in one spot. A lot of hair all over. As I said, just not cleaned and maintained well. I guess I should know you get what you pay for....the problem is I paid $75/night ($333) because I was staying for 4 nights but I could stay for 7 nights for ($299). Y$42.71/ night. That means I paid $32.29 /night more than their advertised price plus the extra cost of internet. Some might say “what do you expect, it’s an extended stay place hotel” except there is another extended stay place very close by that is much cleaner & nicer that offers free breakfast and WIFI. That was actually the hotel I thought I was booking for my stay in Kalamazoo. Pp

Thank you for this thoughtful, detailed feedback. We are known for being super clean and we are embarrassed that we disappointed you with a less than sparkling clean room. We hope you'll consider trying us again for a more typical fresh, clean stay with us. We are also so sorry to hear about the confusion regarding our rates for differing room types and lengths of stay. We try to be open and transparent about our charges and apologize for the bad impression this gave you.

When i arrived at this hotel i was with my children who were very excited. Needless to say they were a little crazy. But i was greeted with a warm smile and a happy voice. Which reassured me I had come to the right place. The young lady's name was carolann. She answered all my questions and was more than helpful. She made me feel welcome. And i will definitely be staying here again thanks to her. Also the room was clean. I had EVERYTHING i needed. And i have not one complaint.

I stayed here for one night since I was stuck in town at the last minute. The room was clean and I liked the flooring but that was about it. I have never been in a hotel that did not provide shampoo. Normally I would bring my own but I wasn't expecting to stay overnight. There wasn't a blow dryer either which is usually standard in hotel rooms. Oh but there was a laundry basket. The lighting in the room was only two bright recessed lights in the ceiling. There were no lamps by the bed (again, should be standard), so you either had the overhead lights or nothing. And lastly, there was no sound buffer between the rooms. The person or people in the room above me were up before 5 am and it sounded like they were rearranging the furniture. I would not recommend this place.
