We decided to go to Michigan for my fiancé’s birthday, and were hoping to find a nice hotel. The hotel was great, but it’s the front desk staff I really want to compliment. Rosie went out of her way to make sure we were more than accommodated. She even went as far as teaching me how to play pool! She truly made us feel as though we were at home at this hotel. She offered me refreshments. She was sanitizing the hotel also, which is a big deal because, ya know, covid. We were thinking about moving to the area, and she was more than happy to give us information and tips about the area. She took time out of her day to ensure that our trip was a good one, and I want management to know that! Offer that lady a raise! We hope to have Rosie as our front desk agent the next time we check in at Tru! …

Good location near the highway. Nice new hotel and I now understand this new Hilton brand. The service was not so friendly at check in ( like we were unwelcome guests), but the checkout staff was friendly. Breakfast was on order. The hotel is new, but you can see where the "budget" brand of the Hilton chain is going.

This Tru location opened the second week of March 2020. It reminded me of a Disney Value Resort with its bold colors and gimmicky design. There was ZERO soap in the dispenser mounted near the sink. Not a good start. But the very friendly and helpful front desk employee quickly fixed the oversight. At times, there was a loud knocking pop every 10 minutes in the evening - wasn't sure if it was the room fridge or the door or what, but it stopped after an hour. The room had one large colorful blind. Liked that instead of the usual curtains. The TV had maybe 5 Showtime channels. Watched Risky Business. Forgot how young Tom Cruise was back then. Many flat, empty surfaces in room for luggage and keys. Thank you! Ice buckets were neatly stacked near the ice machine near the lobby. White boards near the elevators listed nearby restaurants, and site-seeing activities. The breakfast bar included awful bananas past their prime - soft and the peels were riddled with too many dark spots. I spit out the sausage patty after 1 bite. The yogurt was good. Pool table in the lobby! That was fun too see. Ridiculous to see a few parking spots near the entry door reserved for premiere Hilton guests. Side entry door broken. It's better to print a quick professional Word document than to handwrite the problem with a Sharpie.…

After a long day & long drive we get to settle into what looked like a beautiful brand new hotel room for the night on our way to Illinois. NOPE. Found a BED BUG when I pulled back the blanket. So my husband goes down to talk to the person at the front desk. Their response: "would you like the sheets changed?" SERIOUSLY?! So then we get moved to room #2 just across the hall which I thought was laughable. It hasn't been cleaned properly since the last guest, there's bits of food on the bed frame & spilled soda. On to room #3 which is FINALLY clean aside from the housekeeping team apparently not knowing that sweeping/vacuuming rooms (no carpet in the rooms which is actually nice) is still a thing. Had it not been midnight at this point we would've just left & gone to another hotel!…

I travel to Monroe Frequently to visit Family and Normally stay at the Hampton but saw that the New Tru had opened so we gave it a shot. Bad Move! The entire building is supposed to be nonsmoking yet the smell of cigarettes and Marijuana on every floor was insane. We had to keep our bathroom door shut because it was coming through the vents. We were there for 4 days and our room was never cleaned and we had to call for towels every night. It seems that the management is oblivious to these issues and are never around. People up partying and fighting all night - going from room to room. This could be a very nice hotel but if the management does not enforce the rules this will just be another dumpy hotel. I would never stay here again unless the management was able to get it under control.…
