Ongava Tented Camp is a very comfortable, luxury tented camp, but does not have air-conditioning. What is so great about this camp is the watering hole, which attracts elephants and antelopes by day, and big cats and rhinos by night. The guides are also very knowledgeable and we never tired of going out on safari drives to view parts of...

Great from start to finish. Very friendly and a great 'tent' to stay in. Nice sundowner trip then we had a morning drive into Etosha with the ranger. Great food in a lovely surrounding. Will return sometime soon.

On our one month trip to Namibia we have seen plenty of different accommodations across the country and price segments (see list below). The Ongava is on top of the list when it comes to price, not so however when it comes to quality of service. We liked: spectacular roaring of a lion next to our tent during the night,...

Staying at that camp you will find yourself inmidst nature and a lot of animals around. So you may hear the lion roaring at night - and that would not be just a dream. The tents are spacious and comfortable although you won't find a socket for your electric items. (There is a possibility to charge your phone at the...

After four game viewing trips to Africa we found this camp to be pretty average. The tent was comfortable, but lacked spaces for our gear which was less than 44lbs . We had two sinks, but only one of the faucets worked. Some staff were very helpful, but many indifferent. The camp manager was rarely seen unlike most camps. The...

We stayed three nights here at the end of a wonderful trip in Namibia. The staff were all most welcoming and attentive. The waterhole is absolutely amazing. We ate dinner watching a white rhino and her calf drink. We watched a timid black Rhino enjoying the salt lick and a giraffe doing those splits trying to lap the water -...

I stayed 2 nights at Ongava Tented Camp after staying 2 nights at Onguma Tented Camp, and the comparison wasn't favourable. The tents are very close together, with a lot of noise carrying from the 'neighbours' early in the morning. I am also not a fan of the 'family table' arrangement and preferred eating at the tables on the deck....

This is "glamping" not camping, and Glamping at its' best. The luxurious canvas decked bedrooms have excellent en-suit facilities, plus veranda and internal desk and lounge area. The Club House is semi open and opposite the nearby watering hole. There is a good bar and restauranr, plus swimming pool. However, the highlight is the proximity of the water hole and...

The property is located in the Ongava Game Reserve which is adjacent to Etosha National Park. Within the reserve there are four different lodges. The Ongava tent camp is located toward the interior of the reserve and consisted of approximately eight tents. A “tent” is probably not the best ways to describe these accommodations. The tents are on platforms with...

The tents were acceptable but suffered from sand everywhere and an inexperienced and niaive manager - thank goodness for more experienced staff and guides. We arrived late but were still taken out on an evening game drive. We went on morning drives in Etosha Park and evening drives in the Ongava Reserve. The latter were much more interesting and exciting,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ongava Tented Camp is tucked into a hidden valley at the foot of a dolomite hill in Ongava Game Reserve bordering Etosha National Park. Eight large comfortable Meru-style tents all have en-suite facilities, open air showers and private verandas; the family unit sleeps four. The main area, built of stone, canvas and thatch, fronts onto a much-frequented waterhole; watching wildlife coming to drink from here or from the swimming pool is a favourite pastime.Ongava's proximity to Etosha allows for game drives in the National Park and on the Ongava Reserve itself. Other possibilities include guided walks, birding and spending time in hides. Ongava holds one of the largest rhino custodianships for the Namibian government in the country and is one of the few private game reserves in southern Africa where guests can see both black and white rhino. ... more   less
