A wonderful location in the desert amongst the boulders. Well equipped and comfortable rooms. Dining room good & service fair. Reception service mediocre. Directions as regards room locations poor (by reception) and signage inadequate. No written or verbal advice regarding activities available at hotel.

A fabulous one night stop over after our bush travels in Namibia. Great buffet dinner and breakfast with good service and friendly staff. Stunning pool area and comfortable stone thatch cottages built around the property while Gemsbok and Rock Dassies roam freely. 2 night stay imperative if you visiting View points around Canyon and Ai-Ais

The rooms built into the large rocks are really comfortable, definitely request a room overlooking the edge of the plain, the late afternoon light coming off the rocks is breath taking. The Oryx roaming around the camp make it really special. The dinner and breakfast were nothing special but were sufficient. Drinks on the patio outside watching the sunset is... More

One of the most beautiful places to stay especially if your chalet is on the edge of the plains. It was quiet and the chalets are 'Hansel and Gretel' like. Close to the Canyon. Helpful maintenance staff who repaired our flat tyre quickly and efficiently. Shame the cleaner took it upon herself to throw away our fruit which was on... More

Been there many times and loved it again. The layout of the lodge and location are unique and very charming. The food is good and so is the service. Already looking forward to our next visit, hopefully for a couple of nights. One night is definitely not enough, but the lodge was fully booked.

This lodge is top notch. The rooms are roomy, comfortable and very quiet. Only a short drive to the canyon. Restaurant was very good, the food exceptional and all the staff very friendly. Loved seeing the wildlife very close by. Would stay here again.

This lodge is in a great situation just near the Fish River Canyon. It's rooms are well equipped and very clean and the staff excellent. The evening buffet was also tasty and extensive. The sundown walk was disappointing as the position was not the best for the sunset and it felt as if it was an excuse to sell drink.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The harsh rocky desert region at the southern tip of Namibia has made many a traveller think that God has forgotten this land. Not so, just 20 kilometres from the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon, leading off the dusty D324, you’ll find the Canon Lodge, an oasis seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The Canon Lodge is one of two existing accommodation centres in the expanse of the 530 km² Gondwana Canon Park. Tall weather-beaten granite boulders mark the location of the lodge and forms an integral part of the overall design. The 20 thatch stone bungalows are dotted among the kopies and are beautifully designed, with the walls shaped around the hills so that boulders protrude into your room, cool to the touch and smoothly rounded by an eternity of erosion. ... more   less
