Very efficient and friendly staff. Dark footpaths and kids found a small puffadder while playing on the lawn. Lovely, well planned chalets. Clean, romantic and flows into the surrounding rocks. Food not too bad. Get your Gondwana card to make it even more affordable.

This is the place that you will want to visit if you want to get out of the city and experience the blissfulness and tranquillity of nature. The lodge is the perfect stop over place if you are travelling through Namibia and wish to see the Fish River Canyon. One night stay here should suffice for that purpose. We however...

Fish river canyon is a place everyone should visit, and we’ve done it twice, second time was just as breathtaking. You can stay on the eastern side, or go for the bumpy drive to the Fish river lodge where you get a view from the edge. Personally I think the drive is quite long enough, and the lodges to the...

We stayed two nights in March, when there were not a lot of tourists staying. The setting is stunning. The rooms are beautiful set around a well kept lawn under, and set into large boulders. We had room 22, which we found rather small. It was difficult to put our two bags somewhere we would not fall over them. The...

The cottages are located beautifully and create little disturbance to this stunning area of the canyon. The food and service are great. We did the sunset and canyon drives, both were well worth it. I awoke around 3am to find a herd of oryx grassing right outside our cottage - a really special treat.

The stone cottages are around a lush garden with the main building the original farmhouse. A very friendly place and the scramble to the top of the boulders for a sun downer is worth it. very convenient for the Fish River Canyon.

Canyon Lodge is a remarkable oasis in Gondwana area. The pool and green grass is such a contradiction to the arid landscape that you truly feel that you are in an oasis. The staff are exceptionally friendly and always willing to please. In addition, you can see that the maintenance of the lodge is exceptionally well maintained, ensuring that all...

Stunning boulders, good kitchen in the middle of the dessert. We advised them to arrange 'stargazing' by puting out the light for 15 min. or half an hour. There are few places where you can do stargazing without light-polution. This is one of them.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The harsh rocky desert region at the southern tip of Namibia has made many a traveller think that God has forgotten this land. Not so, just 20 kilometres from the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon, leading off the dusty D324, you’ll find the Canon Lodge, an oasis seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The Canon Lodge is one of two existing accommodation centres in the expanse of the 530 km² Gondwana Canon Park. Tall weather-beaten granite boulders mark the location of the lodge and forms an integral part of the overall design. The 20 thatch stone bungalows are dotted among the kopies and are beautifully designed, with the walls shaped around the hills so that boulders protrude into your room, cool to the touch and smoothly rounded by an eternity of erosion. ... more   less
