As a family we had the pleasure of spending a week at Zur Alten Mine in early January 2014. It was a wonderful experience in a most beautiful and tranquil setting, very conveniently located if you want to explore the surroundings. Our hosts Rainer and Walli were most warm and generous and very attentive to one's needs. The rustic cabins...

I have stayed in many self catering resorts in South Africa and this was definately one of the best. Great attention to detail in the furnishings, all the creature comforts provided and even some extras. the biscuits (which were topped up every day) were delicious. Rainer and Walli were friendly and welcoming. Even though our stay started with an accident...

We stayed at Zur alten Mine in August 2013 and enjoyed our stay. The cabins are very spacious, cozy and clean and are in a great location with views overlooking the surrounding countryside. Blyde River Canyon and surrounding sites are less than a hour away and it takes less than two hours to get to Sabi Sands or Kruger. If...

This was our third stay at Zur Alten Mine and we will definitely be back again. We were priviliged to have stayed for 12 days this time and loved every minute (even with the rainy days). My 10 year old had the choice of Cape Town or Zur Alten Mine, he chose Zur Alten Mine because "they make the best...

Untypical for South Africa, we were mighty surprised to receive the friendliness and quality of what we are used to in Germany / Switzerland / Italy (3 or 4 star hotels). Super friendly hosts, excellent accommodation (in terms of cleanliness, not to mention one of the nicest showers I have had in a long time), great breakfast buffet...we would definitely...

We enjoyed our stay at Zur Alten Mine. Although it was a short 1 night stay, our hosts, Walli and Rainer, pulled out the stops to ensure that we had a comfortable stay. He even gave us tips on what we could see and what we should avoid enroute to Kruger National Park (he was spot on with the weather...

Really loved staying at zur alten mine. I definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone and this wonderful guesthouse will definitely see me again! I really love the comfortable and warm, welcome feeling of the log cabins. Going to mis lighting up the hearth fire and lanterns while listening to the sweet music of the night

This was a very cute place and Walli and Rainer (and their dogs) were great hosts. There are picturesque short walks around the grounds and it is a very short drive to town and Blyde River Canyon. Highly recommended.

Lovely accommodation with lots of attention to homely detail. We had a very cosy log cabin with a wood burning fire and great views towards the mountains. The hosts were knowledgeable and friendly. Breakfasts were just right. Location is perfect for the local sights and only 5 minutes by car into the centre of Graskop. Yes it can get quite...
