I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. I stayed for one day and my room was unlocked during my stay due to an issue in the door lock. This was not attended. Simply I was told that there is an issue in the lock. Even though there is a big screen tv, they informed that to watch the channels I need to connect to my mobile wi-fi hotspot. The meals we buy outside from any place is much tastier than the hotel meal. No varieties at all. One or two options available. For the breakfast when I asked for an omelet, it was refused. We did a booking for more than 30 people. Very disappointed and don’t lose your time and money. When you see the building and rooms it looks very nice. However the service and maintenance are poor. Proper training should be given to staff. Welcome drinks not served. Never recommend this hotel to anyone…
Our stay at Margosa was nothing but excellent. I travelled together with a family of 18 and the staff was all smiles from the moment we stepped into the property until we departed. Traveling with family can be cumbersome at times (as you may already know). And we had to switch rooms constantly between one another so that each person is well adjusted, and above all, satisfied. The housekeeping staff was switching beds back and forth, without an utter complaint. That’s customer service at it’s best. Being a western crowd, Mr.Ruwan (Head Chef) as well as Mr.Sampath (F&B Head) did an amazing job with their respective teams making sure all our cravings were well sought after with an exquisite buffet meal after meal and the service was impeccable. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Mr.Sydney, as well as Mr.Palinda. I believe these two gentlemen are the heart of Margosa. The would go above and beyond to make sure that your stay is as memorable as it could be. And having stayed here for 2 nights, I can assure and guarantee the memories you experience will live with you forever. Cheers Margosa, we hope to see you again; soon!…
the spot is beautiful and this hotel was may be in the past as we expected. Unfortunately it was not like we expected. Because of covid certainly the equipment was not really clean and the service of restaurant was weak . The price was cheap and we couldn t expect the level this kind of hotel should offer. Nevertheless the staff try to give us the best they can do.
Excellent hotel with excellent location located at the Trincomalee beach side. We check in on 30th August. Extremely clean & comfortable . Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff specially Mr. Alex, Would definitely recommend this hotel to everybody! It's a true sample of excellent hospitality. But the food is little experience. If you need something little step extra experience you must visit Margosa Bay.
Although the hospitality industry has gone down, Margosa Bay impressed me quite alot. Although with Corona and been short staffed, they gave me and my family a great service and support. The amenities were great! The food was good! The rooms were good too. Most of all the staff gave me and my family a great support as one of the family members got very ill and had to be admitted in hospital. All the managers were concerned and even visited us with food to the hospital. And this made an impression. I am grateful for the service given! Thank you!
Avoid at all costs! Where do I begin with this place? It was appalling, we were booked in for two nights, but left after first night, the service was in general really bad, on check in we were kept waiting for some time, we had also booked accommodation for our driver from London, but on arrival told there was no accommodation for him, looking at the staff some were looking pretty miserable, the atmosphere also felt pretty strange, not at all what I was expecting. Having driven for many hours we went to our room to have a shower, no hot water! I called reception and they sent the same guy that carried our bags to try and fix the hot water, after some time it was finally working! Our room in all fairness was large and seemed clean, although the hotel was by the beach, it's built in a way that most rooms seem to over look mud and concrete walls. Now for the worst part of all, we choose to have dinner that night at the hotel, massive mistake, and sitting down to eat we were served by someone who seemed to have no idea about the menu and then told us several things were no longer available, we finally made our order to only have the guy come running back to tell us yet again what we ordered they didn't have, once it did come it was wrong, and we waited ages just for simple things like butter, the person serving us was not a waiter and dressed poorly, we were the only people eating in the whole place, so to have service that bad was shocking.Having already stayed in several amazing hotels and eating at some beautiful places, the meal at Margosa Bay, was the most expensive yet into our 3 week trip! That day I'd only had juice for breakfast at previous hotel, and nothing else, so at 2am I woke after my meal at Margosa Bay and was very sick for over an hour, it was for sure what I had eaten at Margosa Bay that night, I then tried to wash my face and take a shower, but of course no hot water! In the morning I asked to talk to the hotel manager, at this point we just wanted to get out of the place, his response to say the least was unbelievable, with still no hot water in our room, he first offered to move us to another room with hot water, the place was empty, why not give us a working room to begin with. I then began to tell him how ill I'd been in the night, he of course said it was not their food, and I must be allergic to something, I'm not allergic to anything. At no point did we get an apology, I was pretty angry and upset by this stage, I then said we wanted to leave and were not prepared to pay the full bill in light of what had happened, the manager then disappeared for 30 minutes, only to come back and say they would be prepared to remove the prawns from the bill that I had for dinner, what a joke! I then had to tell him we'd pay half the meal and half the room, on reflection this was generous, the whole experience really upset us, it ruined our day as we could not go diving, and had to leave to find another hotel. I'm so glad we left this place though, but just wish we had never of stayed here, even for just one night. Our whole trip consisted of staying in more than 8 hotels, this one was by far the worst, and we say do not stay here at all.…
We were meant to stay at margosa bay for 3 nights and on arrival our hearts sunk! Having just come from jetwing lake which was stunning we straight away noticed this hotel has virtually no maintenance done to it. The girl on reception was lovely and proceeded to show us the resort and the only thing going through my mind was I'm not staying here. Everything was filthy, fountains out front and inside resort didn't go and had green dirty water in them. We get to the restaurant area which is all closed off, no outdoor flow, windows filthy, food area looked very uninviting. Then to the pool area again a big let down compared to website pictures. We then head to our room which faced a concrete wall, no natural light so lights always had to be on, again filthy especially the bathroom. Lucky our driver was still there so we asked to leave as we didn't feel comfortable there for 3 nights. Management did offer us an upgrade to a bigger room with a jacuzzi which was better but still looking at a concrete wall and didnt change anything else about the resort. We were very excited about coming here but were immediately so disappointed considering this resort isn't very old either! No maintenance staff to keep the place nice, we only saw 2 other people at the resort so no one to keep nice for I guess.…
The hotel has a potential however it looks as if someone started building it and stopped before finishing ... the rooms and chalets are pretty much the same - the only difference is jacuzzi bath in the chalet’s bathroom. In fact the room is bit bigger and both have the same outdoor space ... overlooking a wall :( why not have a small pool there for the chalets and / or take care of that outdoor space somehow ( proper grass ?), get rid off the rubbish , electric cables... No one was there at the reception when we arrived and check in took ages ... service at the restaurant extremely slow , pool bar was closed ... Breakfast wasn’t a buffet so if you’re vegetarian and/or have other nutritional restrictions you won’t find anything... I ate outside . The rooms are not cleaned properly ( see the photo of the space under the tv table ) , neither is the tiny gym. Overall - if the hotel invested in training the staff and taking care of the maintenance it has a potential . As for its current state ... I wouldn’t come back neither recommend it.…
This is really not a value for money place. The atmosphere is like a place without maintainence, the floor is dirty, so as the pool. Room service use to forget basic things, such as change sheets, towls and so on. In addition, the location is not so close to the turistic places.
This is a beautiful boutique hotel nestled within the beach town of Trincomalee. The interconnecting family villas were perfect for a family of 5 with all the mod cons to make this a luxurious stay. The pool was fabulous with an amazing view of the beach. The restaurant food was a mix of Western food and Sri Lankan food and was very tasty. The staff were accommodating and friendly. Definitely will be going back!
