Amazing location, literally on Uppuveli Beach. Rooms are a bit tired and very basic, but for the price they are more than adaquate. Really helpful and trustworthy staff who go out of their way to help you. Would definitely recommend.

Great location on the beach. Trincomalee is a beautiful spot and the beach itself was lovely. The hotel had lounges to use which was great. The Restaurant on the beach was nice and the staff there were very friendly. One of the men on reception was particularly lovely and very helpful. The Room and bathroom were basic but did the job. Air conditioner worked great. The WiFi was average and only really worked in the reception area. Great restaurants only a short walk away.

We had one of the best curries in three weeks touring Sri Lanka (reservation for a currie in the afternoon necessary). The restaurant on the beach is super! And the staff is first class: polite, attentive, concerned, authentic. And waiter Rajeenthan deserves five stars on his own. Not expensive at all.

The hotel is ideally placed by the Upuvelli beach. Close to other hotels, restaurants and bar. The rooms a pretty old and need some maintanance. Aircon was a bit scary but worked. Wifi worked just first 3 days out of six. People at reception were ok. Double room with A/C was 6 400 rs. Generally the stay was simple but nice and cheap.

We selected this place for this year as we have visited few times earlier. Our extended family of 14 people visited this time. Earlier there was a manager , an old man ( cannot remember his name) was very friendly and helpful. This time when we reached the place, place was empty. no guests were there. The garden was almost deserted. It was not cleaned for days. Room linen were ugly. seems like they have used it again and again. lobby's were not cleaned. When we went to the restaurant almost 10 puppys were there. they took the full payment upfront and later they were rude to us. When we asked for bottle of water or a lighter they wanted us to go to the restaurant which was 100m away from the hotel. They wanted us to have our meals there and did not bother about our ease. When we asked them whether they can arrange a place for us to have dinner other than the restaurant they rejected our request and argued with us. once we decided to vacate from the place they rejected to pay us the amount we paid. (we spent there less than an hr) A nice and friendly place has turned to a horrible place with unfriendly and rude attitude of the manager…

We really liked the spacious room and peaceful atmosphere at this beach resort. Just a few steps from the beach in a garden with big trees, birds and monkeys. The restaurant on the beach served tasty food. Pricewothy. We stayed for 18 days.

Initially we shared a triple AC room with a friend which was great! Very comfortable bed and clean room with a private toilet! then he left and it was so good there, that we stayed, moving to the budget room, which as the name says its budget, but comfortable. The hotel was always spotless, the staff were so friendly and accommodating (Menujar being our top favourite! thank you for your kindness!!!), the food in the restaurant was delicious and every evening they would put a table right on the sand for us, which just made the experience extra special! Also the location was perfect! all in all, a great place to stay! highly recommend it!

We had a pleasant stay at this peaceful beach resort. The room itself was average, but the location was great. Just by the beachfront and had plenty of restaurants and activities in walking distance and at the resort itself. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

We only picked this place, since it has beach access, so location wise you can't complain. However, apart from that we had a horrible experience, rooms were dreary, tired and depressing- just one main light bulb, which made it look we were in a prison cell. Mosquito nets were full of holes, old linen, towels probably haven't been replaced since the 70s. Staff was not at all friendly, we barely got a smile of them. The worst part was that our toilet flush broke, and nobody came and bothered to fix it. Luckily we could leave the next morning. We ran a mile.

We stayed at the Cardamon Resort Hotel ( 4* ) further away from Shiva's and we only went there to have some sea food which included Prawns and Crabs. It was really awesome and we had about three (3) whole crabs each for the sixteen of us besides the Prawn curry with rice and salad with french fries included. It was grilled and charboiled and it was great although we had to wait for some time for the crabs to be done. Strongly recommend their sea food. Although they also had grilled fish, we were just too full to try it. We had a great time indeed and the price was very reasonable.
