I had a great experience at this hotel. The grounds are beautiful and there were a lot of staff doing gardening and installing pathway lights. The pool is really nice. While the bathrooms are a bit dated the rooms were nice with massive windows looking out to the courtyard and pool. The restaurant offers good food and the staff was very friendly. When I mentioned that I had tried hoppers the day before, they set up a string hopper cooking demonstration which turned out to be my best meal so far in Sri Lanka. The beach is a quick walk down a private pathway and it was very clean. If you fancy a nice massage, a man named Christy does a good job operating out of a small hut just down the beach

I actually think 3 stars is a bit generous, 2.5 might be more accurate. I feel a bit bad, covid and now this economic crisis is really hurting the tourism industry. It seems as if little to no upkeep/updating have been done on the rooms and hotel. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: -Nice grounds -Pool -Close to beach (down a 50 meter private pathway. Cons: - Dated room (bathroom especially, although clean stains on sheets and towels. - No daily room make up, I injured about this and the presumably manager (guy in white shirt behind front desk) told me I had to request it. I said it wasn't a big deal to me but I asked if I could have another small bottle of water for my room (2 small bottles in the room on check in). He said no and that I have to go buy one from a store. I asked to then have my room made up the next day. It wasn't. any of my 3 nights there. - pool is nice but the nice wooden lounge chairs that are in the pictures are now white plastic old stained ones. - The small pools that the chairs are on in the picture have no chairs and the pools them self are filled with green dirty water. - They have a generator for power cuts but will only run it if the power cut happens when it's dark out. (Power cuts are 2 x 2 hours per day right now) not a big deal right now but if the cuts were longer it may be.. - It looks like they started building a new building on the property by the pool and construction stopped. The grounds in that part are overgrown and the unfinished building is a bit of an eyesore. Overall I'm not so sure this hotel is worth 45 us per night. I saw much nicer hotels in the area. I'd say the hotel would be worth it if the customer service was better. Some of the front desk girls are nice but it seems as if the manager in the white shirt stopped trying some time ago.

We stayed at the Anantamaa Hotel for six nights in March. From the moment we arrived we got a fantastic welcoming from the staff, they all are so friendly and professional how they carry out there duties and were always willing to do that little bit extra to make you feel extra special. The rooms are large and airy ,in a very modern clean feel to them, there are no sea views as such, rooms looked out onto the stunning pool and gardens. The beach is accessed by a 50 metre alley way which is private. The beach was clean and the sea was safe (sandy). There are snorkelling and whale/ dolphin trip to be had from the beach. The room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels provided, tea making, safe ,fridge,tv, hairdryer, balcony, air conditioning and fantastic shower all provided in the room. The weather in March was hot, 33 daily and mid 20s at night. We had breakfast and evening meals, and both were great, breakfast options , were omelette, various cereals, toast, fruits, yogurts and Dahl &Roti etc. We were looked after like celebrities by our drinks host Karthik 🍺. We would definitely love to visit again. A big thank you for making our stay special.

Stayed with family, booked 3 bedrooms for 1 night. Spacious clean rooms. Upstairs rooms had a view to the well maintained gardens and lovely pool. Very helpful friendly staff, delicious food and a short walk via private access to the beach. If on the beach at night you might be as lucky as we were to witness the local fisherman draw their lines in with at least 30 fish attached to the one line!!! The hotel can organise boat tours for you if you wish. Suggest a visit to Koneswaram temple where you get a spectacular view of the Indian Ocean from Lovers Leap. Thank you to the amazing staff for a memorable stay and for packing us a fantastic breakfast (as we left early) of delicious sandwiches, fresh fruit, cake and fruit drinks. We have recommended you to friends and family!

Small hotel, good service, the rooms are basically with garden and pool front, 1 min away from beach (just small corridor in the corner will get you to the beach), the rooms are big and clean, the service is very very good. The area is filled with good local restaurants selling sea food, so over all very pleasant stay

We stayed in a garden/ pool front room. Spacious and clean room. Walkable distance to beach. We took half board, they had ala carte to choose from, no buffet during the off-season, food was fresh and tasty.

The rooms are big good and clean. The bed comfortable. The pool area landscaped beautifully. The reception good. The service at the bar and restaurant poor. There is no beach front even though close to the beach. You have to walk to the beach thro a narrow pathway. The beach is not clean and full of stray and sick dogs. Not sure they have rabies have to chase them all the time.
