We stayed at Hotel Kastelberg for one night in a standard room and we had a very friendly greeting upon on our arrival.
Our room overlooked the vineyards and it was exceptionally spotless in both the general bedroom area and particularly in the bathroom.
It is a family owned and operated hotel and it was very obvious that they really love and care for this hotel. We also had dinner in the restaurant and we chose the fixed 39 euro menu. The food was very tasty and I can recommend that you include this as part of your stay at the hotel. My wife had the fish and I had the filet steak. The hotel is well situated in the small village and it is worth a walk through the village to see what was the Abbey precinct.

The hotel is close to the town, and it's therefore very easy to get to the center of the town or just take a walk around and admire the buildings and the vines. The rooms are adorable, clean and spacious, especially the one I got the chance to have with a front view and a balcony. The personnel at the hotel is extremely friendly and helpful and speak French, German and English, so it was easy to communicate even when one language failed me. Moreover, the whole staff seems to really enjoy their job and to be genuinely happy to make guests happy. The restaurant has delicious food, I did not try starters or salads, but I can vouch for each main course and the dessert. I can't recommend the Kastelberg enough.

The hotel is very well located and decorated (public part and rooms). The breakfast is nice.
We were though very disappointed by the mattress quality which is far below of what I expect from a 3 start hotel when I pay 112€ one night. The mattress was very old and should be replaced urgently. A mattress topper only helps to add comfort when the mattress is too firm, but not in this case. We woke up with back pain and hope that it was only in our room (225) and not in all rooms like this.

We were here as part of a Sherpa walking tour in Alsace (Sherpa arranged this in advance so we don't know what the room rate was). The woman at the desk, who spoke no english, was a bit perturbed that we arrived from a day of walking in the rain and were soggy and our boots were less than clean (although we'd tried our best to clean them on grass before arriving). So we did take them off (fair enough) before going to our room. The hotel is very clean and extensively decorated in the "alsacian" cutesy style. The room was comfortable and the bed was good. We had the half board option so had dinner at the hotel's restaurant as well as breakfast, and the food was excellent. WiFi was free.

The Kastelberg hotel where located along the wine road in Alsace and a good place to stay at if you want to visit Alsace. The hotel was good and everything worked out well. The room are okay for a shorter stay. The breakfast wasn't much to write about, nothing extra but a decent meal..

This hotel was a good modern-style hotel in Andlau. The room was spacious and well appointed, although there were some old damp stains on a corner of the ceiling in the bedroom. The evening meal and the breakfast were both very good. The proprietors were friendly and helpful - including offering unprompted to take our walking boots for drying after a rain shower. While we were there a coach party also stayed for the night, but this did not detract from the overall good atmosphere and service.

My hiking/walking group stayed there for one night. We were a group of 17 people. The next day, part two of our group (about another 16 people) also stayed there. Everything in the hotel was good except the gentleman who owns it. He simply should not be in the hospitality business because he was pretty rude to both of our groups. Mind you we are not a group of some young kids so we didn’t understand why he was so nasty to us. I highly recommend NOT staying there.

I stayed one night at the Kastelberg whilst working locally. Having tried many other hotels in the area, I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Located at the edge of the village with a large car park, the hotel has a mix of different room types all named after local wines. My room, a Gewürztraminer, was very generously sized with two single beds pushed together along with a sofabed. The bathroom was large with a tub and shower and the bedroom had a balcony with seating overlooking the front of the hotel. Being located on the Alsace Wine Route, the hotel is clearly very busy and a coach party were staying at the same time as my visit, but despite this the hotel and room were quiet and I enjoyed an undisturbed night's sleep.

We were booked into this hotel for one night,on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis,( demi pension) as part of our walking holiday.
We arrived at the hotel in the rain and left next morning in the rain!
Our room was comfortable and warm enough for us to dry our washing,(shirts, socks and jocks) and our walking boots.
The hotel patrons were older French and German speaking people. As we are 68 & 71 and English speaking, the ages didn't bother us. We were really impressed with the ambiance in the dining room where, in the evening, the other guests all greeted us with,' Bonsoir, Madame, Monsieur,' and at breakfast, 'Bonjour, Madame, Monsieur'. Everyone seemed to keep to the same table at each meal.
At our other hotels, in the evening with our demi pension, we would have a set menu with maybe a choice of 2 dishes, sometimes no choice. Here we were given the full menu and, although I reminded the waitress we were on a demi pension, we were given our choice from the full menu.
The food was eclectic and we had different salads to start, veau cordon bleu and truite meuniere for mains then cheese and dessert. The portions were large and the trout, fried in butter with flaked almonds, was far more than I could eat. We a carafe of Alsace wine, as did most other diners.
Breakfast was a buffet and perfectly adequate, but not as good as the dinner.
We found the staff to be helpful, rather than friendly, and able to speak enough English to help us.
We would recommend this hotel and the town which also has a boulangerie/patisserie with lots of lovely pastries.

Andlau is the perfect place to explore the middle and northern parts of Alsace, wether it be wine, cykling or walking. Nature is lovely and the setting on the slopes of Les Vosges is stunning. Unfortunately the hotel is not that stunning. It looks like something my parents would have visited in the early seventies. I couldn't connect my I-phone the Wifi of the hotel. Not that important but on the other hand, instead of carrying a lot of guidebooks You have them in your smartphone or I-pad - which, in fact, wasn't able to use.
