The Hotel des Berges is situated in the heart of the small village of Illhausern, in Alsace, between Colmar and

Strasbourg, in the garden of the Auberge de l'Ill. Marco Baumann and Danielle, his wife, have created the spirit of an Alsatian farm with its tobacco shed, particular to this area of the Ried.

Eight bedrooms, four suites and the Fisherman's Cottage will immerse you in a country ambience of Havana scents.

Staying at the edge of the Ill river to find again authenticity mixed with the real pleasure of a family's tradition...this you find at the 5 star hotel, where each bedroom has its own decor, its own ambience.

And once looking outside...you feel like at home.

You never know when choosing a hotel online if it will be what you expect. From the moment we stepped onto the property, we knew we were in the right place. The staff jumped up to greet us and showed us to our room without delay and quickly unloaded our baggage. The room (number 9) was spacious with a nice table and chairs as well as two other chairs to relax in. It is literally the cleanest hotel I have stayed in and I have stayed in many four and five star hotels that were not nearly as well kept. The bathroom was modern and well furnished with all the amenities you would want. Every request was completed within minutes of asking. We never had to wait for anything or call a second time. The first evening we were sitting at table outside near the water and had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Marco, who sat and visited awhile. He is warm and engaging and offered us suggestions on dining and wine tasting. He even personally called and booked us. At his suggestion we made changes to our plans and were glad we did. The breakfast is delicious and served outside on the terrace or garden. We had dinner the last evening at the hotel’s Michelin star restaurant and again it was outstanding. The food was excellent and the entire team who served us were fantastic Throughout our stay we met several of the owner’s family who work there. It was an exceptional stay and we can’t wait to return to this special place again.

This was our second stay at Hotel des Berges, and we loved it again! Terrific friendly staff. Beautiful romantic pastoral location on the River Ill meandering by our deck and the property in general. Very comfortable rooms with the automatic wood louvred shades; excellent breakfast room with a view of the river, which also serves as a bar/cocktails place in the evening. And of course, one doesn’t stay here without dining at the incomporable Augerge d’Ill on the property. One of the great restaurants of the world! We dined there twice on this occasion, and it was simply marvelous both times. We also dined a night in between at the Restaurant a la Truite directly across the quaint bridge over the river, and enjoyed that as well. Illhausern is a short ride from the Rhine where you can easily cross over from the Autobahn, and situated close to the excellent villages of Colmar, Ribeauville, and Riquewehr, in the heart of the Alsace wine country, and only 25 miles south of Strasbourg. In other words, an absolute perfect place to stay while visiting the Marches de Noel, as we did. We look forward to returning! Highly recommend!

We stayed at Hotel des Berges for 1 night on our way back from Italy to the UK. And whilst the prime reason we chose this place was to have dinner at Auberge de l'Ill (lovely dinner by the way - not necessarily the most adventurous cooking but well executed and delicious), we found the hotel excellent too. The hotel is quite small so it feels cosy. Rooms well decorated, all in a different style. Great outdoor swimming pool (long enough for a swim) and spa. Friendly service. Fantastic breakfast with a lot of delicious local specialities. Definitely worth spending more time than just a one-night stay to have dinner!

This 5 Star Hotel is a bit pricey but the location is fantastic and belongs the the Restaurant L'Auberge de l'ill. (3 Michelin Stars). The room #4 was okay and everything in good Quality but nothing over the extraordinary. The highlight is the Dinner at the Restaurant and the breakfast next day. If the weather is good you can be on the terrass and then it's even better

We came to this hotel for three nights as well as to try a great restaurant L’auberge de l’Ill. Everything was great at this hotel - the staff was super nice, professional and friendly. The rooms were wonderful. We had a huge suite with two terraces. The breakfast was one of the best we had in any hotel in a long time. It was really a perfection. The setting on the river was just beautiful. It really is a wonderful property to come back again and again.

Excellent family run hotel, attentive service, big and friendly rooms, exceptional but very expensive breakfast. There is a spa with good treatments, heated swimming pool and great Michelin starred restaurant. Loved it!

The welcome, the people, the garden, the rooms, the pool and of course the great breakfast. Simply the best. An Oasis of hospitality, taste and culinary delight. Thanks to Marco and his family and team. We look forward to many more visits to come. Recommendation: book a room in the new Spa building.

What a beautiful hotel! The photos don’t do it justice. Everything was perfect - the staff were excellent, the room was quirky , massive and wonderful, the meal was exceptional at the restaurant which is just over the road …. And the owner (who served us breakfast) was lovely Just Fabulous …. We’ll definitely return

Wonderfully located at the board of the river Ill, Hôtel des Berges is a great place to stay when you have to celebrate something (of course, it comes at a price). The hotel is very stylish and comfortable, the service highly personal and very attentive, and the breakfast approaches a brunch (although, strictly spoken, the French do not know "brunches"). The

I don't know how to arrange for a rental car to be delivered to this hotel. You might ask the hotel itself, or the rental car agency you have in mind.
