La Rhonie overlooks the Les Eyzies, consisting of two traditional dry stone buildings. The tranquillity of the surroundings will ensure a relaxing and peaceful stay in the heart of the “Périgord Noir”.In the comfort of its traditional architecture lives a warm welcoming family who have lived within these walls for the last 7 generations.Cradled in a small prehistoric area and surrounded by beautiful chateaux in the valley of the Dordogne, yet close to the medieval town of Sarlat. Our new hotel has 12 standard rooms, each individually decorated with care, comfort and numerous services: TV, hair dryer, free wifi, computer at your disposal, living room with large screen TV, billiard room and football, indoor heated pool. A lot of documentation to guide you through your visits and of course our advice.

Not the easiest place to find but once you arrive the welcome could not be better. The hostess is a very friendly, larger than life character. The welcome was so friendly. We were upgraded and the room had a mini kitchen as well as bed and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and well slept extremely well. There were extra pillows available in the wardrobe if required.
There is a covered pool which looked very inviting and the countryside views are stunning. Our room also had a very pleasant patio area to sit out on and admire the countryside.
The dining room is very pleasantly appointed and the food is cooked by the patron. It was all delicious and well presented. Service is by the daughter of the house. Winess are well chosen, local and very modestly priced .
Breakfast is buffet style and very pleasant with fresh baked pastries and breads
I hope that I get the opportunity to go again

We had a lovely time staying here. The hosts are kind and welcoming and the room was very comfortable, with fabulous views from the terrace outside. It's a great spot for walking, and the covered pool made it possible to relax with a swim even in mid October!

My husband and I spent two nights in this delightful place. The room is very clean, the surrounding very tranquil and peaceful. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, making sound recommendations on where to go and what to see. The dinners were delicious and of good value. Definitely recommend.

Get away from it all and be looked after by the very friendly and welcoming couple who manage this well run hotel. Good quality food, currently a set menu with other choices available if you order in the morning. Great view from our room, and I think all the rooms over rolling countryside and you can eat outside or inside. Madame offers one of the warmest welcomes we have ever had.

First this "hotel" is not in the town of Meyrals which is important if you are hiking. Second expect a fans stay dramatically different from the similarly described hotel 300 m away at Lamy (that hotel I would recommend we went there for drinks and it was delightful). The food is very average and,for France, perhaps not to that level we were two people in a room apparently used for singles.

Response from MarieRoseAmpoulange, Propriétaire at Logis Hôtel Domaine de la Rhonie
Responded Apr 27, 2015
The travel agency that allowed you to come to the Domaine de la Rhonie is a tour agency establishing nature treks focusing on accommodation and restaurants that have an environmental and ecological approach, and use products from local organic farming. The Domaine de la Rhonie was selected by this agency for the quality of our approach. You have been served local specialities (magret d'oie sauce aux girolles) and were housed in a room with a king size bed. We are therefore very surprised by the comment you posted on Tripadvisor.

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights and had a lovely time. So friendly and the food was excellent. We took day trips to all the fascinating places to see in the area. It was a relaxing country retreat.

My small tour group spent a better part of a day with owner Marie Rose on her family farm. It was magical. First off Marie is friendly, welcoming and authentic. We had the wonderful surprise of meeting her son, who is the farm "shepherd". We learned about herding sheep - we actually participated in moving the heard. Their delightful puppy Lascaux entertained us and everyone came to an appreciation of just how hard working farm life is. We toured the farm, a beautiful property. The best part of the day was the lunch time meal, prepared by Marie and her family using all local ingredients. Lunch included home made breads, salads, pate, foie gras, the most amazing cheese platter I have ever experiences and all was topped off with a tasty walnut cake. Of course local wine included and an atmosphere so relaxing and special I will never forget the day. Our experience of the day will always be one of my fondest memories of the entire trip. Thank you Marie, I hope to visit again!

The welcome was warm. Marie-Rose was making sure we were fine during our all saty.
. The breakfast could be served outside so we can enjoy the sunrise.
The food is sourced from local producers and you can taste excellent and tasty yogurt and chocolate spread, among others... We wish we could have tried the restaurant for local dishes...
It can be a good base to visit the region. It is close to Sarlat. we wish we could have stayed more on "the domaine". It is calm and relaxing. We could see geese being guided by a border-colley to traditional huts.
This hosting accomodation hotel follows sustainable process.

My friends and I had booked 3 rooms in advance, and although it was a bit of a challenge to find it down country roads, it was an enjoyable experience from the moment we arrived. There were several stone buildings, extensive lawns, a large flock of grey geese (which explained the exquisite foie gras), a heated swimming pool, many games for children & adults including a huge lawn chess set with the pieces the size of 5-6 year old children, and wonderfully friendly staff. The air was fresh and redolent of lavender and rosemary -- and the food was delicious. I was sorry that we were on our way north and could only spend one night there. Definitely worth a repeat (and longer) stay.

Definately do recommend this lovely place. Everything was truly perfect. The small size rooms offer all amenities. The views are breathtaking and you are really in touch with nature.
The food is very varied and homecooked. We really enjoyed staying in and tasting the local delicacies. A great pluspoint for families is the amazing game room where all children and adults play together. Gives the parents a lovely time while waiting for dinner.
The hostess is very knowledgable about all things to do during your stay. A must in Dordogne!!! We will be back.
