Lovely little hotel with splendid views, a beautiful swimming pool and a wonderful host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and most especially enjoyed our evening dinners with the sunset view on the beautiful outdoor terrace.

We found our rooms a little dark and would have preferred to reserve a room facing the terrace / swimming pool so that we could enjoy sitting outside with the lovely view.

Otherwise, a lovely property that we wouldn’t hesitate to return to.

Truly a hidden gem: La Ferme Lamy is far enough away from the Sarlat tourist traffic to offer tranquility, close enough to everything to provide convenience. The stone-walled rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, the hospitality warm and gracious. We regretted not having time to take advantage of the beautiful infinity swimming pool or to spend more time on the dining patio overlooking the rolling Périgord fields. We would certainly return (and we really hope to do so someday). This is an excellent hotel.

The Ferme Lamy is a truly beautiful spot, a great location for exploring the area, with golf, cycling, caves, truffles and much more besides.

The owners are so helpful and have plenty of time to answer questions and tell you about the area.

The pool is lovely and towels are provided.

The food is exceptionally good and beautifully presented, one menu is planned per day and if you don't fancy what's on the menu for that evening, they can recommend local restaurants instead.

The breakfast is fairly basic, meats, eggs and pastries. The only let down for me was the bread (no lovely French baguette) and teas, English breakfast being the only selection where a variety would be nice.

The rooms are a nice size and comfortable, they could perhaps do with a little modernisation.

We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

WE stayed at La Ferme Lamy for 5 nights in April, 2012. The only really positive thing to be said about it is that it is located in the French countryside, in a lovely, quiet area of France. But that's where the good news ends. When we arrived, we were not offered help with our luggage (which we would have declined), despite having to mount a very dangerous and steep flight of stairs to reach our room. The this level of indifference came to characterise our visit. When we finally met the proprietor, his first, rather belligerently put question was, "Do you speak French?" We do, but this was hardly the way to inquire. Breakfast was very minimal for an establishment charging this tariff and having the recommendations it does. There were no replacements to our depleted supply of soap and shampoo (we ended up buying our own), chipped taps in the bathroom, stains in the toilet, no paper handkerchiefs or water, and noise into the night from below where the dining room is located, and from departing guests in the early morning. Moreover, the blanket on our bed was grossly undersized and was filthy dirty. This is a place to be avoided at all costs, unless, that is, you want be charged far too much for far too little.

Dear client, We are very surprised by this negative view of our establishment which is not justified. We have, always welcomed you with great courtesy during your stay. The rooms, the sheets and blankets are regularly checked and cleaned by our maids. We disagree, of course, your opinion when you announce that the blanket was very dirty. Regularly, we provide in the bathrooms soap and shampoo, enough for at least 2 persons. If by any chance, there is a lack of soap, shampoo or something else, we provide them on request at the reception. Our guest don't have to buy them at the supermarket. About the breakfast our guests have at their disposal : Fresh fruit salad, bread, walnut bread, croissants, brioche, selection of jams, butter, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, hot and cold milk, ham, smoked ham, cheese, Cornflakes, muesli, natural yoghurt or fruit yogurt ….) The vast majority of our guests really appreciate our breakfast In addition, the buffet is always provided throughout the breakfast. We don’t agree when you mentioned that our breakfast is poor. In the vast majority of cases, clients are very happy with their stay at La Ferme Lamy. Some of them expressed their satisfaction via Tripadvisor and we thank them for their encouragement. We understand that customers are disappointed during their stay for any reason but know that most of small problems can be fixed quickly if the customer notifies the hotel owners. Unfortunately, we learn your disappointment a few weeks after your departure......

When I entered my generously sized rustic room, I was overcome by an intense chemical odor. Following my nose, I found that it was from an industrial-strength deodorizer plugged into the bathroom. I got rid of it and opened the windows to air it out.

I was on a small-group hiking tour at the time, and several of us had the same complaint. The next morning, our guide, a Dordogne native, told the owners about our complaint. Nevertheless, instead of trying to air out our rooms, they closed the windows while we were away, so the next day when I returned after the day's activities, there was still that overwhelming toxic odor. that had been trapped in the room all day. I had to sleep with the door open that chilly damp night and coughed and gagged much of the night.

This hotel had very inhospitable policies. There were signs all over with the many prohibitions: no washing of clothes in the sink, no hanging of wet items in the bathroom, no storing of personal food items in the refrigerator. The no laundry/no hanging sign very cavalierly instructed guests to go out and use a laundromat. (The hotel is in the middle of the country.) This is obviously impossible for a tour group, but they nevertheless accepted our booking.

This could be such a unique, peaceful, lovely place to stay under different ownership or management. Whoever did the carpentry did a nice job converting farm buildings into lodging for humans, and just outside our doors and windows the sky was starry and unpolluted by artificial light, and the only sounds came from widlfide. But the chemical fumes in the room were toxic, the many prohibitions were restrictive to the point of being offensive, and the ownersmanagers apparently couldn't care less. I hope there has been a change since my stay. last visit on October, 1999.

My husband and I stayed one night on our drive through Limousin and Auvergne. The building is nicely restored but the room was very small in a complex that reminded me of 1960s motels - adjoining rooms in straight lines. The infinity pool is interesting as it appears to flow into the connecting agricultural fields. Breakfast was adequate but not special. Very pleasant hosts. This hotel is advertised in the Relais du Silence brochure and frankly we expected more. My overall comment would be overpriced for what it offered as it looked and felt a little tired.

I booked this so-called hotel, because it supposedly accepts pets. Its entry in the Relais du Silence Guide DOES NOT say that pets are excluded from the restaurant. When I enquired, I specifically stressed that it was very important to us that the dogs be allowed in the restaurant. The reply stated that small and medium sized dogs were allowed in. On the basis of all this information, I subsequently made a reservation. HOWEVER... when I took my dogs in to breakfast on the first morning, the owner said that they were not allowed in. I referred to the fact that I had checked with him before booking and been told that they were accepted. He then made a feeble excuse about the lack of space in the room. (At the side of my table there was approximately 36 sq feet of room, part of which was a recess next to a huge fireplace!) He was extremely rude and said "I have told you!" then walked off. He didn't speak to us for 3 days.
The hotel information in the room is basically a load of rules and regulations including a statement that the electricity should not be used for personal items. Hard luck if you have an electric toothbrush, shaver or straighteners! This place is, I think the most unwelcoming accommodation I have ever stayed in and we spent as little time as possible there. I shall certainly never return. This is all the more sad as it is a memebr of the Club Hotelier du Pays de Sarlat whose charter inlcudes the 2 following statements :
"... to make you feel at home" " ...to guarantee...quality for money." HA HA

Response from MichelBEYER, Propriétaire at Hotel De La Ferme Lamy
Responded Aug 23, 2011
We are surprised at your review of our hotel which is the result of a misunderstanding that should have been resolved during your stay and not a few weeks later after your departure. We must, therefore, answer to your critics which are not justified. Indeed, we accept and welcome well educated dogs at our establishment. However we have some restrictions during the high season. Indeed, when our dining room is full, we ask the owner of the dogs to leave their pets outside. This restriction obviously is removed when we serve breakfast outside. In addition, during your stay, we received also a family with one of their children had a great fear of dogs. You understand that we tried to satisfy as many of our residents. We are always available to customers to answer their questions (technical problem, regulation of the hotel, visiting tourist sites, for example). It would have been better to let us know during your stay at the hotel, your lack of understanding on the use of personal electrical equipment (toothbrushes, razors ...). We would have been able to respond to your request. We mention, in fact, in the welcome booklet, as security that customers should not connect their heater or coffee maker, which is quite different from your interpretation on the use of an electric toothbrush. We have warmly welcomed you every morning, even if we don’t speak english as fluently as you and we remained at your disposal for all your needs. We do not understand your comment about our failure to communicate to you. We are sorry that you had that feeling during your stay. We always try to satisfy at best the needs of our residents. Overall, we have had excellent feedback. We can see through the sheets of assessments of your guests, or on the opinions on TRIPADVISOR or on other sites At the Hotel de la Ferme Lamy, we are concerned about the well-being of our residents. We try to make up their stay as pleasant as possible and thus enable them to discover the Perigord Noir in good conditions. Sorry if this target was not reached to you and we wish you in your next vacation a very pleasant stay in a Relais du Silence hotel. Very respectfully.

I booked this place for my husband's 40th 6 month's in advance, based on the website photos and the reviews here. A week before the date we found out the hotel had exchanged hands to new owners which was a bit worrying.

Upon arrival I was a little disappointed by the look of the place as it was a little tired (mainly the reception and breakfast area) and not as nice as on the website photos. The rooms however were nice and charming specially those with mezzanine level but showers need updating. The location and setting was superb and great for exploring the region which has a lot to offer such as canoeing down the beautiful dordogne.

The new owners were very pleasant and although new to the game were very welcoming, warm and tried their best to make our stay special. One of the nights we ate (they only cook for groups or special occasions) and despite them not being from the region they made the regional dishes very well and the meal was overall very good and good value. We all enjoyed our stay and left happy and looked after.

The other night we ate at a local restaurant in the middle of nowhere La Maiterie 5 mins drive which served top class cuisine served in traditional surroundings, fantastic food at great prices.

As it is, due to the slightly tired look i would give this place a 3.5. With very little updating it would get a 4 but for now i have to give it a 3 as can't choose 3.5!

This is a family-owned hotel. Our room was nicely appointed, but very small. The internet did not work properly and the restaurant was closed. Felt our room was too expensive for what was provided. It is also in a remote area.

We stayed in Ferme Lamy for 4 nights. The hotel is a nicely restored French Perigord Farm. Plus points : Quiet yet central location in the middle of Perigord Noir with Sarla-la-Canéda only a 20 min drive away; Nice swimming pool (outdoors); Minus points : rather high price for only 3 stars (>100 EUR/night); Breakfast expensive : 10 EUR/person (consisting of bread and jam only + coffee or tea); Rooms have no windows: the door is the window. So if you want fresh air during the night you'll have to decide to either leave the door open and take the security risk or sleep with the door closed. The rooms are also set up one beside the other in such a way that you neighbours need to walk past your room to get to theirs each time being able to look into your room unless you draw the curtains thus resulting in very low privacy in your room.
