We consider ourselves world wide travelers and found this place sub-standard and not as published. The pictures on the website are not accurate reflection; not a lakefront property it's a pond. The room we stayed in was not the room on the website, the building they show on the website is not the building we stayed in. Would not recommend to friends and family. Never written a negative review in all our years of travel domestically or internationally. Communication via email was poor, I asked for places to eat and see of the host and no reply. Would not stay in room 309 the one keyless entry deadbolt lock did not function correctly. For the price, this place was overpriced. The only thing good about this place was it was clean.
We've been regulars at Sun and Sand, visiting with our families for years. We've seen many owners come and go, as well as changes at this beautiful throwback property. This past visit, we noticed all the updates, refreshing of the property and accommodating staff. We were so happy to see all this. The property is beautiful, new beds are comfortable, clean rooms, new outdoor chairs and close to walking trails/beaches. Well done S&S!
I think some of the reviewers are being overly harsh. It is an older property so no matter how hard you try to clean, they may not look clean. They do have newer floors and paint and the owners do appear to try to keep things tidy. This is a property that is 3 miles outside of town and the high prices on or nearer the beach. I'm not sure what people expect from this type of property this far from the beach town. It was fine for the price. All the staff we were in contact were very nice.
This is not a resort. We stayed in a "cottage" that can only be described as a room worth of bates motel. Bed was just a mattress on a frame no headboard or anything shoved in a corner. Windows had no curtains and the TV was a tube TV as old as I was. Left with several bug bites and paid more than we typically do to stay at a Marriott or Hyatt. Claiming these are "newly renovated" is Highway robbery.
This is an older property so I expected the rooms to be small. Room was very clean. . Room had some items I hadn't expected, small fridge, microwave. Pool looked very clean and a nice size with lots of seating. The grounds had been kept up and were attractive. Staff was friendly. Unfortunately we placed our items in the room, changed our clothes for a celebration in town and left. Never tried the bed until we returned much later that evening. The bed was unusable it was so uncomfortable. Once we sat on the matress you could see sink marks. Only one wicker chair in the room and it was hard and stiff no chair pad. Would never recommend this property unless new upgraded bedding is in place. Has a lot of other things going for it but if you can't get a decent nights sleep what is the point, We have stayed at a lot of properties over the years, chain, upscale resorts, mom and pop operations, B&B and cottages, Never encountered such uncomfortable sleeping arrangements. Matress was just totally worn out!! Others complained about the same issue I see now after the fact. BEWARE. One night stay was too long.…
