If I could rate less than a zero I would. The pictures on the website are false advertising. The rooms are so small, the floors aren’t level and the rooms aren’t clean between guest arrivals. The bathtub wouldn’t drain and there was someone else’s hair stuck to the back of the bathroom door. The floors in the room were filthy. No outlets in the room to plug things in. The paint was peeling off the windowsills on the inside of the windows. In need of serious help people!! Management doesn’t care and are very rude!! $200 a night… please. Should be 50 cents a night if that!

Pictures do not accurately reflect the reality of the Sun n Sand Resort!! We arrived in South Haven to attend our nephew’s wedding. From the outside, this resort looks beautiful, and the grounds are, in fact, very nice. However, the units (2) we stayed in need a total redo and deep cleaning. The bathroom was dirty, with unidentified hair on the floor tile. There was a spot of blood on the inside of the bathroom door, as well as ants on the floor. The outside porch lights were bright and lit up the room at night; the outdated blinds were insufficient to block out the light. In addition to dirty baseboards and sandy floors, the seal around the entry door was worn to the point where one could see daylight when the door was closed. Among other issues, there were no bed stands, no lamps (just an overhead light,) one small bar of soap and no channel guide or instructions for the TV.

This place is a dump. Rooms are too small, bathroom sink was very old and badly in need of repair. Pool area needs to be updated. Small tv in room, only one chair to sit on, and it was like a chair for a kitchen table. A/C is a joke. Just an old A/C unit in the window. There is nothing “quaint” or “cute” about this place.

The rooms are VERY small. The 'resort' is quaint. A very nice pool, corn hole, picnic tables, and a very nice swing overlooking a pond. The 'resort' has nothing else, no restaurant, no food. You must drive to stores and restaurants. There's a lot of potential, a bar and or restaurant would be a good mine.

The picture of the country inn in the advertisement was not the same as the room we were given. There was no mention in the ad of other buildings where rooms were rented. The room we were given was in a side building with a sloping floor. We had to remake the bed so that our heads would not be going downhill because of the sloping floor. We slipped in the bath tub because it also sloped downward. When we opened the small refrigerator, our water bottles came rolling out because of the sloping floor. The door was very hard to lock and stay shut so we slept with a chair propped under the door knob. The person who greeted us and signed us in was not friendly or welcoming at all. Her attire was not appropriate for greeting guests who were spending the night there. The ad also mentioned food service (restaurant) is available on site. It was not in service at all. The ad mentioned the beach was a few steps away. It was after we drove into town, found a parking spot and walked to the beach. The ad mentioned the close proximity to trailheads. Close, after we had to drive 2-4 miles to the trail heads. The ad mentioned fire circle with seating. Seating was two wooden benches with no back. The fire circle was a metal ring in the middle of a field. There was no comfortable seating anywhere, inside or outside, except at the swimming pool. The pool was generally clean and clear, but not salt water as advertised. I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone.

I was so excited to stay here because the website made it look like an old fashioned resort. The one bedroom pictured was definitely not what we had. The room was so small that there was barely room for two people. The bed was against the wall so if you needed to get up in the middle of the night, you had to crawl to the bottom of the bed to get up. There was one wicker chair wedged in the corner by the window beside a small table that had a microwave and refrigerator. There wasn't even room to keep your suitcase out. We had to put it on the bed and close it up and sit it back on the floor when done. There wasn't a night stand. No lamps, just one overhead light. The bathroom door stuck so everytime you came out, you literally had to push the door at the top to get it open and it made a loud screeching sound when you did this. The bathroom was clean but the sink was very slow to drain. The website advertised cable TV but it was in fact satellite. After our first day out, we came back to our room to relax and watch TV. Unfortunately the satellite wasn't working. I called the front desk and was told he could come look at it but "it's satellite so there's not really anything I can do to fix it". I stopped at the front desk the next morning and was told they would send someone up to look at it. When we came in that evening, the TV was on and working...until we tried to change the channel. The pool was clean and heated, although we didn't use it. I gave it 2 stars because the room and bathroom was clean. Definitely would not stay here again.

We stayed for a weekend in July with several other families and school-aged children. After we booked, I started to have second thoughts after reading some of the older reviews. Not sure where some of those people were staying but all I can say is, less competition for the rest of us to book again! This place had it all- the rooms were very comfortable, with two good-sized bathrooms, comfortable bedding and light, fresh decor. The pool was heated and pleasant on a mid-summer Michigan evening- there were even fresh pool towels available. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, going out of their way to steer us toward the best beaches and restaurants in the area. The coffee in the lobby was the best hotel coffee I have ever had! But the best part, by far, was the outdoor space. There were several acres of wide, green fields for playing soccer and capture the flag. There was a scenic pond for skipping rocks with a small water feature that was a perfect adventure destination for the kids. And the fire pits were perfectly placed so you could sit back and observe it all by the roaring fire. We shared several meals in the outdoor space and the hotel had any utensils or items we needed to make our stay easy and restful. We will definitely be back to this charming midwest oasis!

When we first arrived I was a little disappointed. The place needed some paint and repair, but as our time went on it grew on me. It had a nice outdoor space, good room space, close to things, but a little bit out so it was more quiet. We also used the outdoor pool quite a bit. We had a room with a queen size bed and bunk beds for our kids.

We had a blast staying at this low key, family friendly old school resort! We stayed with multiple families and really enjoyed the beautiful grounds. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the kids loved the pool and they had plenty of space to run around and play. We used their grills for dinner one night and loved the fire pits with complimentary wood. A short drive to the beach and town of south haven. We will definitely be back!

We really wanted to enjoy our quick 2 nights as a place to sleep while we were working a wedding in town. I am a wedding planner with a VERY aggressive schedule over the weekend. All I required was a place to get some much needed sleep after working intense 18 hour days on Friday & Saturday. The rooms are nothing like the photos. I knew it would be tiny but not THAT tiny. My college dorm room was bigger. Regardless of the size, we were just there to sleep. We went out and bought new pillows, coffee supplies & toiletries since there is none in the room During our stay on Friday night, we had issues with the TV, which wasn't too a big deal, but just the start of a series of awful sleep. Its satellite & didn't have reception. The remote didn't work for the tv, only the satellite box (no power or volume control). When getting up in the night to use the restroom, I stepped on earwigs, and realized there were at least 4 on the floor. I tried to get more sleep, as I needed to be up for a very grueling day of work starting at 7:30am on saturday. Early Saturday morning, while in the shower, the fire alarm started going off, while I tried to deactivate it, bugs started falling out of the fire alarm. I thought I had it solved & resumed my shower. It went off again, We had to pull it off the ceiling, while more bugs continued to come out of the ceiling. We made the split decision to check out immediately. I had a very busy day, and could not take up more time trying to figure out a solution. Upon check in we were told the front desk would be open at 8am, which we did not have time to wait for. We vacated the room & I went to work. When we came back later that morning, (after having to rearrange my busy wedding schedule to make the trip back) the interaction we had with the front desk went from cordial at best to downright rude. The woman at the desk told us they were booked full & there was nothing to be done. She told us we should have called the front desk about the fire alarm. I was in a towel, with shampoo still in my hair, and barely covered, I could not have someone in my room at that moment - we were also in a time crunch. She mentioned she could move us to another room, but couldn't tell us if there would be bugs there too. If there was bugs on the 2nd floor, surely there's bugs on the first floor. She told us there was nothing to be done because I booked through expedia (we did not, we booked through United Hotels). She told us we needed to speak to a manager, but then was offended when we asked for the manager's phone number & was shocked we would actually call. I tried calling & emailing, and of course, there is no response. This place is horrible, I can't imagine having wedding guests or a wedding here like they advertise. I'd be mortified.
