Spent two nights at Baywatch and enjoyed the experience. The rooms had two king beds and still felt roomy with a balcony overlooking the lake, which felt like it was right outside the room from inside. The hotel has put in place careful precautions to protect against COVID, which means no breakfast served and no one entering your room during the stay, but the staff were attentive when anything was needed. The beds were very comfortable and the room spotless, so we had an enjoyable stay and would recommend this hotel for its lakeside setting, though it is a 5 minute drive away from the center of Traverse City for those looking for entertainment beyond the beach.

My husband and I spent three nights here (Sunday-Wednesday) for a fall babymoon getaway to TC/Northern Michigan. I am VERY particular about my hotels and was impressed by this little bayside retreat. Unlike the other dated, cheesy hotels in this area, Baywatch is a fresh of breath air thanks to their recent remodel. We really appreciated that room 118 on the first floor was all hardwood floors. We opted for the walkout room which was wonderful to drink our morning coffee by the beach. Since I'm 8 months pregnant, I really loved the extra large soaking tub in the room and used it twice. The bed and pillows were comfortable and there was minimal noise heard from the hallway/other rooms. Additionally - they have the best Kohler shower heads here. I could have spent hours in the shower. Though we had limited interaction with staff due to covid, the gentleman who checked us in was very friendly. My only "complaint" would be that the bath towels are a smidge on the smaller side. Overall, a wonderful place to stay if you don't need to be in downtown TC! Would love to come back in the summertime to enjoy the beach.

The staff has been great there’s only been two people here the whole week due to Covid it seems like. The hotel was really clean. The beach is a lot smaller than expected but that’s just due to the water levels. Because of Covid they would only clean your room if you ask because they weren’t allowed to enter and you could just ask for towels and linens at the front desk if you needed more and they were always happy to accommodate. We were really sad that literally because of the position of the hotel the sun only has about 10 feet of the beach at any point of the day so you don’t ever really get direct sunlight.
We had a room with a tub on the bottom floor and the soaking tub was great.

Saturday to Tuesday stay.

The hotel rooms has engineered woods flooring which is beautiful until you realize the noise from above with no carpeting. On Sunday, the hotel emptied out (was sold out Friday and Saturday) except for handful of guests. There are Stunning, Beautiful views from the balcony.

The location is good, the beach is right out the door, it’s very clean and modern. Great walk-in showers. Beds were very comfortable and clean linens and large king size pillows.

Bad for us.. So in a practically empty hotel, on Sunday, a family of 5 placed right above us, peace and quiet slipped away for the rest of our trip. (Jumping off beds, bouncing a ball, racket starting 6:30 am on Monday and Tuesday mornings.)

And yes, after complaining, on Monday, we could have changed our rooms for one night of peace but with my 85 year old mother and I have a disability, it isn’t easy for me to pack up and then unpack and then next morning pack up again to leave.

I was given some discount on my bill for the inconvenience but spending $1,000 for three nights….not sure I’d take the “noise chance” unless I was guaranteed top floor.

Tip one.. try for top floor.
Tip two..bring noise canceling headsets if you don’t snag top floor.
Tip three..don’t expect much of a beach due to High water of the bay. Plus it’s on an incline. Take the chaise close to the water line for flattest place to sun yourself.
Tip four.. bring in yummy breakfast foods,
Baywatch Resort breakfast for a $300+ room rate is Cheerios, instant oatmeal, and other horrible pre package cheap food options.
Covid 19 or not restrictions..this is the hotel cheapening out. They charge “resort” fees but it does not feel like a resort.
Why not provide from a local bakery like a small pastry basket? Even fresh croissants would be better than the same food Baywatch serves that can be found at a Red Roof Inn.

This is a very nice hotel. It's very clean and well kept and the rooms appear nearly brand new. The hotel used to be part of a group with the Sugar Beach and Grand Beach, but not any longer, its obvious by the architecture. The property is very well kept and clean, the lobby isn't huge but is plenty large to serve its purpose. The staff was friendly and helpful in the few interactions we had. They seem to take CoVID precautions seriously, which made me feel comfortable. They explained them at check-in and even gave us a sheet detailing what they are doing. Unfortunately, they arent offering food/breakfast at this tie due to CoVID which is understandable.

We had a 2nd-floor room overlooking the bay. It has a nice balcony with 2 chairs and a small table. The room was super clean, and the decor was like a modern northern Michigan chic They have laminate floors in the room and hallways which look nice. They are a bit noisier but much cleaner. The room appeared to be nearly brand new, the bathroom spotless, the AC/heat worked well, and was fairly quiet. The only issue we had was the light and power outlet on one side of the bed wasn't working for some reason. They do not clean your room during your stay due to CoVID (which I honestly prefer not having someone in my room when I'm not there) but towels, TP, etc were just a quick trip to the front desk away.

The beach was nearly non-existent, this is not a flat of the hotels but due to the high water levels in the Great Lakes currently. They are in a great location to enjoy the water and watersports. They are also close to Walgreens and a number of restaurants, etc. Plus it's just s short drive to downtown. Overall, I recommend staying at the Baywatch Resort.

Great 2-night stay for our first visit to TC. After reading other reviews we splurged on a room facing the water. The view was beautiful and the room was enormous and super clean. Desk staff made us feel very welcome. The location is a short drive into downtown.

The girl working the front desk most of the weekend was the rudest person I have ever met. She should NOT be working in a customer facing position. We showed up an hour earlier than check in as we flew in for our stay. We had electric scooters to get from the airport to the hotel and were carrying backpacks. We asked if our room was ready and she said no. I asked her if she could text me when the room was ready and if we could put our backpacks somewhere so we could leave and come back when the room was ready. All she said was "NO". I explained to her that we had no car to put our bags in and asked her, given the price I paid for the room if they could make accommodations for us. She just stared at me and didn't say a word. I asked her if she was going to say something and she said nothing but continued to stare at me. We were forced to sit on the beach where are bags became full of sand. I saw a bunch of people checking in around 3:30 (check in is 4:00) so I decided to ask again if our room was ready. She said yes it was. I then asked why she didn't text me per our earlier conversation. She said nothing, picked up her phone and I believe she made a fake phone call to nobody. She then said, sorry No, it's not ready. I sat there until it was ready which was exactly at 4:00. I believe she made us wait on purpose because she didn't like us. I should have read the recent Google reviews where a customer experienced the same attitude from what appears to be the same girl based upon their review.
Yesterday I received a survey request from the hotel. Told them everything I told you here and they are not doing anything about it.
In addition our coffee maker was broken in our room, our floor reeked of pot and the breakfast was sub par for paying nearly $900 to stay there 2 night (the amount of my monthly mortgage payment).
I will be adding my Google review to this hotel as well as here and every other travel website.

My wife and I failed to read the negative reviews on customer service, so suffered the same, and for 5 days at exhorbitant room rates. The resort advertises breakfast, but hides behind Covid protocols to offer very inferior pre-packaged cold items in a plastic bag hung on your door knob and call it breakfast in your room. Happily they had a keurig in the room and we had brought our own pods. Also, they did not enter or clean the room the entire stay and believe me the floor was sandy by the time we left. We had to carry our own trash out. Again, they hid behind Covid but another hotel we stayed for 3 nights offered full hot breakfast and daily cleaning if you wanted it. The whole visit got off on the wrong footing as I unfortunately pulled my debit card to pay a nearly $2,000 fee and the desk clerk would not allow me to void that transaction and pay with an American Express card payable in 60 days. It did not get better.

My husband and I stayed here during our baby moon, our room was 130 the walkout with a king bed.

The room was nice and updated, but the floor was covered in sand from previous occupants and there was no rug in sight to dust off your feet. So you will most likely have sand in your bed if you don’t keep a towel next to it like I had to. Doors are obnoxiously loud which means they’re safe but if you have the neighbors we had they were slamming them at 1 in the morning and it’s not the most pleasant thing to wake up to. Don’t think about asking for more pillows you’ll get a snarky remark of how there’s already 4 in the room. And that the hotel only has an extra 8 in the entire hotel. (Weird) We did end up receiving some after the guy at the front desks comment. The bed was not very comfortable, my hips were sore, and my husbands back was killing him by the second day. Stains on the comforter which we didn’t realize until our second day and housekeeping doesn’t come in the rooms still so there was no point in changing the blanket since we already slept in it. Breakfast was disgusting so we didn’t bother after one time. And the weather didn’t cooperate so we planned on coming home and cutting our trip short. My husband went to talk to the front desk(same guy that we talked to about the pillows) and he said that normally they charge a $70 early checkout fee but since we spent money there they shouldn’t and that we’d most likely get our money back for the one night, just make sure to come early before normal checkout time. So next day my husband goes to the front desk at around 9 and some other guy was at the desk and told my husband that we won’t be getting our money back since we booked through a “third party”. Not sure why one person says one thing and another person says something different. Most likely won’t stay again unless we had no other choice. Live and learn

It's pandemic time and number one was cleanliness. I thought this was their best feature. Cleaning staff isn't permitted into rooms at all while they are occupied, but that's statewide. You'll have to go to the front desk for fresh linens.
We didn't have great weather while there mid-Sept, so there were not many guests out an about. That said there was not much sound proofing through the doors. As guests were checking out of their rooms in the morning, we heard them while trying to sleep in. We could hear the the blow dryer in the adjacent suite. Which means they probably heard us, too.
We had a "Petite" king room facing the bay. Saved money but it was one of the smaller rooms I've ever stayed in. See attached image for room size comparison. If you're just there to sleep for a few nights, it's fine. Bed was nice and comfortable.
