A well maintained resort in a peaceful setting right on the beach.(Situated on a main highway but inside there is no road noise.) Easy access to the beach for long walks since the state park beach is almost next door. Short drive to shopping, downtown Traverse City, wineries, antique shops, and thrift shops. This is my fourth stay at Pinestead Reef in about 40 years, always in the winter. There is skiing nearby which I have taken advantage of but there was no snow this year.
This is a fabulous location and the very nicest and helpful staff. It Deserves and really is overdue for an update and refresh! The carpets are old, the shower curtains are patchwork velvet from the 80’s and the paint is cracking and dark dingy. That said- the rooms were cleaned well and the view is spectacular!
The resort is currently undergoing construction so my guess is in 6 months it'll be great to stay there. all the rooms have a great view of lake Michigan and they are large. We had the one bedroom for three of us and it was plenty of space. All the staff was friendly.
Well situated resort for activities in the Traverse City area. Staff is extremely helpful with information. Hallways have been enclosed which helps with weather elements in entrance ways and provides a sound barrier for street noise.
The unit was dirty and outdated. Mold on the shower head and around the bathtub. Food particles on the wall near the wastebasket. Food under the dining table legs. Visible dirt/dust on the bathroom heater, air units and furniture. This resort needs a total deep clean and update. Outside the trash was overflowing out of the dumpster. Maintenance tried to enter our unit twice after check in, we did not ask for it, with a no contact policy during Covid. We stayed only 3 days out of 7. Not worth it. Very disappointed.
