First of all - we booked through the Wyndham website. You would think that since Covid has been going on for over a year they could update to inform you that the pool and hot tub are closed. The kids were stoked to go swimming. I never even thought the pool would be closed since every other place I have heard of has their pool open now. Seems like false advertising to me. I see on TripAdvisor that the pool is closed. I guess TripAdvisor knows more about the hotel than its own parent company. The site also says free breakfast. Don't be fooled - it is a bag with a bottle of water and granola bar. For the last hour, 9pm-10:20pm, we have been trying to go to sleep to the sound of dogs barking above us. Apparently nothing is getting done. As for the room - no complains.. furnishings are nice, beds are nice. Bathroom is small and could be updated. Sink is in the main area. Overall, save $30 or more a night and stay at the Econo Lodge just south of here.. or one of the many hotels in town.…
I travel frequently for business and stay in hotels a couple times a week all over the state of Michigan. I had never been to this particular Hotel, but I selected it because of its proximity to my client's location in Traverse City. I will start with the positives before I get into my criticisms. I found the mattress to be quite comfortable and the pillows quite good for a 2 star . That is the end of the good points. I was extremely disappointed and outright baffled that my hotel room had absolutely no closet nor any clothing rack on which to hang dress shirts or my suit. The only place where I could hang my clothes was on the shower curtain rod. My room had a king size bed, but there was only one night stand on one side of the bed which would be very problematic if I had been staying here with my wife. The room had one small desk with an office chair, but there was no other table or any other side chairs or couch so the only seating options in the entire room was a single office chair or sitting on the bed to watch TV and eat meals. Again, if I had been with my wife this would have been very inconvenient as it would mean one person would either have to stand or sit on the bed to eat and watch TV. The room came with an iron and an ironing board, but again because the room does not have a closet the ironing board is out propped up against the wall and the iron is in a dresser drawer. I was also very disappointed with the offerings for breakfast as they only a brown paper bag with a bottle of water, one granola bar, one fruit cup, and one muffin. I understand that the hotel is under restrictions and while they may not be able to provide their typical continental breakfast the restrictions that are in place do the covid-19 have been here for almost a year. Most hotel establishments that I frequent including many in the Traverse City area have found better alternatives and are able to offer a wider range food selections to their patrons including hot breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, a wide variety of fresh fruits, a variety of hot and cold cereals, hard-boiled eggs, Bagels and other pastries all while adhering to the state guidelines. I also find it frustrating that the the pool, hot tub, and fitness area were closed indefinitely due to covid-19 - I feel like a broken record here, but again most other Hotel establishments that I frequent have been able to find ways to make their on-site amenities available to their patrons including pools, hot tubs and saunas, fitness rooms and lounge areas. Lastly I found the hotel staff be very cold and unwelcoming. This is a hotel - they are in the hospitality business and they should be greeting me with a smile, making me feel welcome and not like I am a pain in the neck - truthfully I find most gas station attendants to be more welcoming then the staff at this hotel. I will never make the mistake of staying in this Hotel again…
it was a busy weekend in Traverse city. The staff was nice and accommodating. they had breakfast in a bag. It was ok, comparable to other hotels I have stayed at. Pool and hot tub were closed. I knew this ahead of time. We had no issues.
Starting from the stairs walking up to our room, which were dirty, to the stained couch and chair in our room, to the bathroom which neither my daughter nor I would ever dare shower in. It was so bad. That we jus left.
The roads were very slippery for traveling. I picked this hotel because it was on my out of the city. What a pleasant surprise. The lobby had coffee and was clean. My was was nice and clean. The only downside was the pool was closed. now that i know a hidden gem exists I will be back.
