We had a good three night stay at the Parkshore over the summer. It was a very good stay, and we enjoyed the visit.

We reserved a family room so we had varied sleeping arrangements. We very much appreciated this layout, with a separation between rooms, a small kitchen area, and a corner room with a great, high-level, waterfront balcony. The beds in the small room were bunk beds, but they were very large and solid, and worked well for our teens. We absolutely loved the view of the water directly from the other bedroom. (We were able to sleep with the sliding door open (screen still closed, of course), to appreciate the breeze and lake sounds. The bed was very comfortable, and lent to a couple of good nights sleep.

The kitchen area was a bit smaller than we expected; but, the full-size fridge was very appreciated. The kitchen was actually poorly equipped, with no cooking utensils, soap our washcloths (I'm sure pandemic-related, but still pretty critical for a functioning kitchen). The front desk was very responsive, though, and provided a brand new spatula, cloth and soap for our use (which was what we really needed). The hotel was also very clear during booking and checking in that housekeeping service wasn't provided; however, they provided towels upon request both days, picked up garbage upon request, and twice were able to vacuum the floors upon request (due to the sand inevitably brought up from the beach).

Being on the beach is definitely one of the prime assets here. There are lots of chairs available. The sand beach area was narrow, but this isn't the fault of the hotel...the lake waters were definitely at recent highs, limiting the amount of seating areas. But, what was there was a nice alternative.

All in all, we enjoyed the stay here, and wouldn't hesitate to return.

We have stayed here many times before and have always liked it. We weren't thrilled this time. I know that they can't put out the continental free breakfast that they had before the pandemic, but what they gave us was really cheap - a very small carton of yogurt, a small container of fruit cocktail, a small granola bar, and a bottle of water. If we are not going to get breakfast, the price should go down. We also always liked their bar and restaurant before, but we were so upset we will not be going back there. (I have written a separate review about this.) On our last night there, I got up very early and went to the bathroom and was not thrilled to see a large bug crawling in the sink. Later when I got up, I found a smaller bug on the window, killed it, and a little while later there was another one!

Wife and I got a king suite with a fire place and jacuzzi in the room for our wedding anniversary. Check in was easy. Had a hard time getting help at the desk after that. The room was nice at first but once we unpacked and looked around,we realized the toilet tank lid was disgusting. Then to our delight, the toilet just kept flushing and flushing. Had to manipulate the handle to get it to stop, quite inconvenient at 3am. It gets better, we went down to the pool to use the hot tub. Once in, it didn't take long for my wife to point out the scum bubbles floating all around. Absolutely disgusting!!..we got out immediately!. So nasty soaking in other people's god knows what. We took one look at the pool and saw all of the sand in the bottom, and decided to skip that all together. Don't they clean those things daily??. Fortunately our room hot tub was clean and we enjoyed that. The view from our room was about the only highlight. Remote controls for the TV were totally confusing. Had to open the sliding door to bring the kiln like bedroom down to a comfortable sleeping temp, but then all we could smell was cigarette smoke from the ppl downstairs smoking on their patio. 144.00 is a bit much for what we walked in to. Bagged breakfast was nothing to brag about. I'm being generous with a 3 on the rating scale, should be a 2, but I guess I could have complained and switched rooms. I just didn't feel like making a big fuss for a one night stay. We originally planned for 2 nights, glad we didn't!.. I would have asked for a refund and left after seeing that scummy water and brown bubbles floating in the hot tub.
We probably won't be back..more like never

We attended a friends elopement and stayed the weekend at the Parkshore Resort. The room was clean and spacious, however the restaurant must vent right into the room we were in because it smelled each night strongly. The walls were very soundproof. I was not impressed with the care taken with the wedding cake. In cleaning up from the event, the staff placed a plate of their cake ON TOP OF the actual wedding cake. On the bottom of the plate was someone's false eyelashes, squished right into the wedding cake. I found this very unprofessional and was not happy. Then, we had packed some of our things up on the morning we were to check out. We had NOT gone to the desk to check out, however when I left the room to get breakfast and came back, housekeeping was in my room and had touched my wallet and phone. The young housekeeper said he took it down to the front desk because he thought we had checked out because the majority of our things were no longer in our room. When I told the person at the front desk she shrugged and said she was trying to call me to get me my wallet but did not care that we had not checked out. Will not return due to this. The hotel is very nice and the bartenders/waitstaff are excellent, however hotel personnel seem unprofessional.

The staff prefers guests find things out rather than be upfront and communicate with them. Upon checking In, was a sign hanging stating no room service for stays under 3 nights. We did not see the sign. We waited for our room to be cleaned and it never was. Called ahead to ask if required to bring own s’mores supplies. Was told yes. Never mentioned we had to bring our own wood and lighter fluid. You complain and they just point to signs or shrug their shoulders. Hotel is drab, outdated and dreary. Breakfast to go bag was room temperature the first morning. Inside of room frig was dirty. Room door wall barely locked. We only picked this hotel based on the fire pit. Other hotels will stock the fire pit, man the fire and supply you with one free s’more treat bag. Overpriced for the poor experience. Plenty of other overpriced choices in the area. To top it off, they have a tacky, outdated, cheap cloth to use to protect their crappy, old towels. See photo.

Thank you so much for letting us know we will address these issues at once. The front desk should have informed you that to limit contact with staff & guests we are only providing stay over every third day and that also allows the cleaning staff more time for deep cleaning in all check out rooms. Our fire pits are available for use however we do not provide firewood at this time. We are also doing several upgrades this year and I hope that you will come back and allow us another opportunity to better serve you in the future.

I was very happy when we got our room, it looked very clean, we sanitized everywhere with our Clorox wipes and I am very happy to say there was no dirt. Even the balcony railings were clean. We declined housekeeping to keep contact low. We brought out dirty towels to them and received clean ones. Sheets were changed once. Everyone had to wear masks while in hotel public areas, everyone was compliant. It was not crowded, felt very comfortable. My only downside is,, even though Beach is small they could have raked and cleaned that area and also the chairs were filled with bugs and webs.
Wish they would open restaurant earlier than 3 so that we could order lunch. The traffic on the main road was too busy to go out.
There was a lot of traffic but we had excellent time. It was our 5th time staying. It is an older hotel and dated but cleanliness is uppermost.

On the beach with a nice view for $300 august weekday. Bed and pillows pretty comfy, hot tub was in need of cleaning and service to rooms only every 3 days, Asked for a sheet change on 2nd nite and they made the bed with same sandy sheets. Breakfast used to be a pretty nice continental now they have cut back to basically off brand inedible yogurt, muffin coffee and tea. I know it is covid times but could offer a better brand of yougurt and maybe a bagel. Front desk staff pretty nice.

Everyone was nice, checked in at 2pm had this approved before even arriving. Room was going to be in wasn’t ready so was placed in a room on the end near vending/ice machines. Could hear street noise all night 😔 Breakfast was alright very basic, was here volunteering for Special Olympics so really should have requested another less noisy area as far as room.
Coffee spill on counter was there through entire stay, has me ?? Cleaning of rooms.
Nice there is a restaurant attached very convenient and reasonable.
Would be nice if there was a fitness area.

The Park Shore used to be our first choice when heading to Traverse City, but not anymore. I called today about 2:00pm to make a reservation and the girl that answered said “Park Shore I’ll call you back”, and HUNG UP!

Of course she never called back, how could she when she never asked for a name or number? So, I called back 4 hours later. The same girl answered. She confirmed that she had done that to SEVERAL callers. No apology. Just a general “whatever” attitude. I asked her if they had availability, she said they were booked solid for Friday, but never asked what dates I was asking about (it wasn’t for Friday). So I told her I was amazed, and that people in Michigan must be desperate if they’re staying at the Park Shore. “Okay”, she chuckled.

The Covid shutdown won’t last forever, and people will remember how they were treated during the crisis. I know I’ll never stay at the Park Shore again, and I would never recommend the place to anyone.

Thank you so much for letting me know. That is absolutely unacceptable and I will be taking action immediately. I deeply apologize that you or anyone else would be treated like that by someone who works here at the Parkshore. I would welcome the opportunity to personally apologize if you would be willing to allow us another opportunity to better serve you. I assure you that this does not reflect the type of service that we expect for our guests and we will work hard to be sure this does not happen again.

We stayed for 1 night and will definitely be back! The rooms were recently updated and they are comfortable & great! Our room had a partial bay view, 2 beds, walk in shower. The staff was super friendly, the on site lounge had tasty food & drinks. The badly gift socials are worth the visit! They have a DJ on the weekend. There is a breakfast buffet offered for $10 per person. We didn't eat there, but the food looked good. I'm sure the view & beach are incredible in the summer!! I can't wait to go back! Highly recommend!!

You can we are only 2.5 miles from the center of downtown however the sidewalks are not that great. I would suggest driving and parking in the parking structure downtown.

We do not currently have a shuttle for downtown but we would be glad to set you up with one of our local cab services.
