We booked this hotel through my IGH site as a member it was still $425 per night and of course they did not have reward nights available. But after reading some reviews I wanted a hotel close to everything and thought the rooftop bar would be amazing to watch the sunset and eat dinner,so I chose to stay here.
First the rooftop bar and restaurant have an extremely small ( bar food menu) so don’t plan on eating here, really limited due to COVID, other hotel restaurants are still serving a nice meal such as the Reflect at the Cambridge hotel( fantastic cheese platter and friendly service ) Also finding a spot at the rooftop bar is almost impossible with the limited space ( Covid 50%) and first come first serve even if your not staying here.
Location: is nice but you are still walking everyplace and come to find out the other hotels offer free shuttles to the main road and offer pick up too.
Room: well let’s just say this was not the hotels fault but we had a family with a bouncy child above our head was up till 11 pm and up at 5 am, then we were in a room near the elevator that people from 12- 3 am were hanging by the elevators. Normally this would not bother me and I am usually out past midnight but came here for some RR after crazy hours at work. Needless to say walls are thin ! There is no refrigerator either ( I don’t think I have ever stayed at a hotel room with no frig) and finally we had a view of a roof top ( not pretty at all)
The positives : The room is clean and neat. Large showers and bathroom facilities are nice. Beds comfortable, air conditioning works great.
The staff was completely professional and when I asked to move rooms they only had the room that the person above us was leaving, and although the little pidder patter of feet would be gone it was still right next to the elevators and I just wanted to get Some sleep before the weekend was over. The kind women behind the desk had mercy on me and allowed me to cancel without penalty so we could leave a day early.

Hi charitymarinel, I'm glad you chose our hotel for your visit to Traverse City. Thank you for staying. We want your accommodation to be effortlessly authentic. I'm sorry you found our room walls thin, needs a fridge, rooftop bar, and restaurant small. I understand this made sleeping and eating a bit of a hassle. I believe feedback gives us the chance to be better and trust that I shared yours with the management for these areas to be worked on. We appreciate your feedback about your stay and looking forward to your next travel. Many Thanks, Rein D Case Manager IHGService

Our friends who live in the area recommended so we booked without looking at any reviews. Our mistake. It is convenient to downtown and if they add room fridge might be good for a summer getaway as it is so close to the water. They were great about moving us from the noisy bay view room — for which there is an up charge but it had windows that sometimes rattled due to the traffic. Only valet parking was a surprise at $15 per night. Nice people but they are way understaffed. We’ve encountered other hotels with the Covid difficulty but they’re missing some critical balance here The decor was ok but somehow lacking. Cold floors, nothing to absorb sound, odd closet added as an afterthought. And this hotel is pricey for the area. .

We went for a sunset drink. There were 6 people in our party. While the rooftop was slightly crowded, tables and seating areas were well spaced apart this summer. The staff was doing their best to keep up with the orders.
The drinks were a combination of standard and craft cocktails. They were pricey, but worth it for the view and open atmosphere. We went back a second time this summer!

I was a little nervous about what the hotel would be like when we got there after reading some of the reviews. But we were very pleasantly surprised! The hotel is very nice! The people were all very friendly and the place was very clean. We had a Bayview window that great! People had complained about how noisy it was in other reviews.... No idea why. Yes you could hear the cars on the road, but it was not loud and it was actually a great white noise. The hotel is also in walking distance to shopping and a lot of great places to eat! The foot at the hotel was also very good. I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Indigo!

I am so sad that I have to write this review. Our stay was enjoyable, and the valet guys and front desk staff at check in were so friendly and nice. At check in our room did not have toilet paper and the Kleenex was out. They did bring these items right up when room service was called.
My frustration comes with my card being charged 2x for our room and room service. At check out I was never issued a room bill besides what was give to me when I reserved the room through IHG. I have called multiple times to rectify this, both front attendants I spoke to were extremely rude to me. One being someone name Rozz? Treated me like I did not know what I was talking about nor would she let me even speak to explain the situation. She did not want to transfer me to the Manager Bridget, but said she would leave a message for her to call me the next day, which she never did. I even called with a representative for my card on the line to help me talk to someone, and the gentleman who was helping at the desk said the Manager Bridget was doing house keeping and could not come to the phone?? He was also very rude and over talked my representative, which was all on a recorded line (After putting us on hold and talking to her) I’m sorry, what manager does house keeping in a upscale hotel??
Both myself and I Left a message for the manager, and surprise surprise no phone call back. I have been over charged almost $700 and they really don’t care. I have a claim in and trying to contact a corporate office, otherwise I have to wait 21 days for an investigation.
I travel frequently and this was my first stay here, I was so excited that this could be a new stop for me as I travel to traverse city often. But now with this not made right, I will not travel again and make sure everyone I know, knows not to stay here.
I’m reaching out hoping someone reads this and makes this right. Charging the full amount twice is not acceptable, and the way I was treated each time I called was heart breaking, being treated as if I’m in the wrong, and being over spoken to when I try to talk

I am very disappointed with how I was treated as a Platinum Elite member at this hotel. I stayed at this hotel in 2018 and planned to return next month. I had an anniversary night that I wanted to use in addition to paying for a few other nights. As a Platinum Elite member, there should be no blackout dates for Anniversary nights; however, I was unable to book a room using rewards online. I called the hotel to inquire and the manager on duty treated be horribly. He stated several things such as, "All of our anniversary rooms are booked and we are not willing to help you make a reservation." When I asked if there was another manager available, he stated "No she's not here at 9:30pm on a week night." I also asked if they would be willing to give the room to someone else but not a loyal rewards customer and he said, "Yep!" I was appalled at the lack of customer service I received. Although I feel IHG hotels are typically great and you can almost always expect a quality stay, I will NEVER stay here again or give my money to a hotel that is so unwilling to work with its customers.

When a small-town property (albeit a resort town with very high demand) charges $400 night, I do have a few expectations. This property FAILS MISERABLY on even the most common amenities:

1. No pool. No hot tub.
2. No bars of soap or ANY bath amenities in the room. Not only do you have to call down, they won't bring them to you. You have to stop by the front desk to get them.
3. Restaurants closed, except for room service. And they make you go through a convoluted process of scanning a QR code to take you to a 3rd party site to order.
4. No fridge in room...I can understand a microwave, but for 1/10th of what I spent for 2 nights, they could have bought a fridge.

IHG advertises the Hotel Indigo brand as being in their 'Luxury' category along with their flagship Intercontinental hotels. I've stayed at dozens of Intercontinentals over the years (and Ritz Carlton/Waldorf Astoria/St Regis/etc)...This Hotel Indigo is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a luxury property. This is a pedestrian property in an already overpriced resort town and was more on par with a Courtyard By Marriott or Hilton Garden Inn. It certainly is not a horrible property, but definitely not what I expect in a self-touted 'luxury' property. I get that they might be understaffed, but a sold-out place fetching $400/night, they could pay people more and staff the place properly so they could provide some BASIC amenities that I get in Holiday Inn Expresses, Hampton Inns and Fairfields.

Nice hotel. Modern design, clean room, spacious bathroom with open shower. I was surprised how dark the rooms are. I sat at the desk to do some work and it was very hard to see… Even with every light on in my room.
I was a little discouraged that the only parking available is valet parking… Which you are charged for. My car did not leave the front parking lot, (right outside of the front door), but yet I was still charged for valet. I parked my car out front when I arrived and the valet was supposed to move it to the underground parking structure. The next morning my car was in the exact same spot and the valet handed me my keys at the counter. The valet never drove my car.

This hotel was clean with friendly staff and well located for walking distance to shops, bars and restaurants. In my opinion, it is a basic hotel that benefits from other hotels in the area mostly being old, and outdated and no frills. The Indigo will get the job done if you are with young kids or a group of people and spending most of your time outside of the hotel.

On the down side, the bed sheets were extremely thin. The bed itself was hard and it felt hallow like a cardboard box. There was a gray colored coverlet on the bed that was snagged and looked very worn. So, the bed was sort of awful. The bath products were too small to be of any use, so I recommend bringing your own soap, shampoo and body lotion. The walls are also very thin, and you can hear people talking next door and down the hall. This is not a comfortable hotel at all. You will also have to look hard for electric outlets and USB port for charging devices as the only ones I found were oddly located on the base of the lamps. It seems Indigo did some quick low-cost "updates" a few years ago and cut some corners. The furniture in the room seemed to be a veneer pasted over particle board, and was not durable at all since the edges were worn off the desk.

We did go into a few other hotels thinking we might switch, but decided to stay when we went into others and saw how outdated they were and some smelled like an old musty antique shop. This hotel rose to the top just because there did not seem to be any competition for modern hotels with luxury conveniences.

First winter in Detroit, and took a spontaneous trip to TC. Somehow, despite being the middle of January, during a pandemic, with only outdoor dining available... we discovered our favorite Michigan town! Hotel Indigo was the perfect spot to introduce all the downtown has to offer, not only because of its location but also due to the friendliness and enthusiasm of the staff. The hotel staff was impeccable in terms of COVID precautions regarding sanitization, social distancing, mask wearing, etc; yet still was able to create a welcoming environment. It can be slightly noisy, as walls are thin and hotel is downtown; we didn't mind at all given the location. We are very much looking forward to another stay!
