As long time visitors and renters at Mashkinonje Resort we have always been pleased with the service and amenities. In our opinion, we would consider this a 5 star stay as many updates are being completed since the new ownership has taken over. These updates have added to the value and comfort of the resort.

Andrew and Lise have been nothing short of accommodating to the needs of the renters over the years. Each cottage is outfitted with a portable A/C unit, all appliances are in working order, and cottages and clean upon arrival.

Over the years we have experienced exceptional fishing, as well as seeing moose and deer and all kinds of wildlife which adds to the experience of being in Northern Ontario.

We continually look forward to our time spent with family, friends and new friends that we've made at the Mashkinonje Resort every summer and we could not recommend it enough!

We've been visiting Mashkinonje Resort for the past several years and consistently find it to be a fantastic getaway. The cottages are very well equipped with everything you need, beautifully maintained, and the quiet air conditioning is a lifesaver during the hot summer months.

We trully appreciate its dog-friendly policy as we love being able to bring our furry friend along on the trip. Lise and Andrew are exceptional hosts, always going above and beyond to ensure their guests have a wonderful stay. They're incredibly responsive to any needs and are constantly making improvements to the resort, which is truly commendable.

The location is simply breathtaking. Nestled in a peaceful, secluded bay, it's a haven away from the hustle and bustle. The sandy beach is perfect for relaxing, and the free access to kayaks and paddle boats adds an extra layer of fun. I can't recommend Mashkinonje Resort enough – it's the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and natural beauty.

Mashkinonje Resort has become a yearly highlight for us!

We found this hidden gem 4 years ago and each year can’t wait to return! Owners have become like friends and treat all their guests as such. The property is well taken care of and it shows…with each year Lise & Andrew have made beautiful transformations of the cottages and common areas! If you are a fan of fishing or paddle boarding, bring your gear you won’t be disappointed. Don’t forget to pick up your pizza making supplies if you’re there over a Thursday evening as there’s a wood fire pizza station where you’ll find Andrew! It’s the best!!!

I was disappointed to notice that there is now one, very negative review posted here since the current owners took over the property. I think a reasonable person would conclude (based on the length of the rant) that the poster had an axe to grind... but I can't help but chime in.
We have stayed here for a week each of the past two years and are looking forward to another one week stay later this month. We keep coming back because the location is great, the cabins are great (and have improved since we first visited), it is quiet and peaceful... a great place to relax and do some fishing. Which is exactly what we look for.

The owners have made an effort to make this a relaxing, family friendly place to stay while also accommodating groups of serious fisherfolk or couples looking to get away for a bit. I wouldn't suggest it as a place for large groups to come and party... not that kind of place.

As for the complaints in that long review: I can attest that they are not accurate. We've never noticed any issues re toilets or sewage smells (and if you are running out of toilet paper and repeatedly plugging your toilet I'd suggest that the problem is you... not the toilet). We have found the cabin we stay in well equipped and comfortable with all new windows and a heat pump installed since we first visited.

As for the owners, we have always found Lise and Andrew to be very helpful. For example, last fall we were well out into Lake Nipissing when we had problems with our outboard. Had to limp back towards Mashkinonje but ended up having to pull into one of the resorts on the way. I texted with Andrew and he hooked up our boat trailer and drove out after dark to load our boat and bring us back... rescuing us in a time of need.

The owners obviously care very much about the resort and try very hard to accommodate their guests. It has changed since they bought in, as they make it their own. It is great.

Our group of 4 are avid fishermen who have experienced many fishing resorts/camps throughout Ontario. We have come to Mashkinonje Resort for five years running, enjoying nothing but super clean, well maintained cottages each time. When Lise and Andrew bought the place a couple years back, it only got better!
Friendly, courteous and professional they have always been a pleasure to deal with, even during a recent traumatic time in their lives during which they took great pains to ensure their customers were well taken care of. Even when fishing was slow, we found the beautiful scenery, great accommodations and warm hosts more than made up for it.

This is the 2nd year visiting Mashkinonje Lodge and will be back next year. Lise and Andrew are great host. Cabins are clean and well equipped. We (3 of us) have been going to the French River for the past 7 years and this has been the best place we have stayed so far. We enjoy the wildlife and the landscape that are always outstanding and of course the fishing.

We’ve been going to Mashkinonje since 2019. The cottages are tidy and the kitchen area is well stocked with everything you need for meal prep. The view is beautiful. This is a great place for fishing, water sports and relaxation! The pizza nights are fun and delicious! Can’t wait to return next year!

Gracious hosts Lise and Andrew made our first post-COVID family vacation simply amazing! Great accommodations. Great scenery and sunsets. Great EVERYTHING! We already booked again for next year. Will definitely be an annual ritual for our family. And surprisingly, there are a lot of things to do, even for a non-fishing family like ours. But in speaking to the people there that were fishing, the location is second to none. Would recommend 100% YES!

We have been going to Mashkinonje Lodge/Resort for the last nine years in a row and are looking forward to next years trip as well. Always a great experience for us there. We've made many "Mash" friends during our stays. Clean , comfortable and great resort. Lise and Andrew are most gracious hosts. A great place to de-stress, sit back and chillax.
