Detailed Reviews
What an amazing trip! We have a 5 hour drive to get to Mashkinonje Lodge, but it was well worth the drive. Goldie and Regan welcomed us as we arrived, and directed us to our cottage. It was amazingly clean, I haven't stopped bragging about what a clean place they keep. I was shocked at how much they supply, I way over packed. I am extremely picky about my bedding, but didn't use the bedding I brought with me as they supply it all. The beds are amazing. I have to say it's all the little things that add up over the week that make this the special place that it is. We were in cottage 11, which is a 2 bedroom, it is a smaller cottage but with an abundance of storage. The large deck overlooks the beach and was an amazing place to sit every day and enjoy the view. I didn't once hear our 13 year old say he was bored, which was amazing!! The band and fish fry are above and beyond, not to mention the amazing pie that my son enjoyed. My husband and son can't wait to get back up there to do some more fishing. Thank you so much Goldie and Regan for an amazing week, can't wait to get back up next summer. I think we have found our NEW favourite summer vacation spot!! You two make this place extra special.

We are a group of 13, with3 families, and kids ranging from 4 to 12. We have been travelling every year as a group and try to find a cottage resort that meets all our needs and it is a tall order. Mashkinonje Lodge has done its absolute best to hit all the items on our wish list. First the property and cottages are clean and in great condition. Pride of ownership shows. (we had cottages 4, 5 and 6.) They were well outfitted and comfortable with all the kitchen items needed. Extra pillows, blankets and clean bed linen is provided. All the beds were comfortable and provided a great sleep after a full day. Each of our cottages had a nice deck, patio set and umbrella, as well as a privacy wall. Fire pit was shared by our 3 cottages an was a perfect location for hotdogs and marshmallows. Fire wood is on site and provided free of charge! Beach area is perfect for out little swimmers and they had plenty of beach toys, floats and extra life jackets if you forgot one. 2 sit on kayaks, stand up board and canoes area available for visitors, also free of charge. Park area was great for the kids as well although the deer flies were a bit intense at the start of the week. (trampoline, climber and field area for soccer/baseball etc.) If you need ice or worms, no need to hunt down staff. Its on an honorific system, go get what you need, sign your name/cottage number and pay up at the end of the week. Fishing was great for the people in the group who wanted to fish, and the guys who went on a tour with Regan enjoyed it. Kids did some swimming off the docks and of course some tubing on the lake. Over all i would highly recommend this place to anyone. We all had a wonderful time and the owners are great, friendly and easy going. Thursday night was a fish fry and potluck with a band playing as well. We all loved it! You can see just how much work they have put into this place over the last 4 years and it made our stay great. A++++ to this place!

Where to begin? This was a trip for my son and I that I had planned and wanted it to be special. To begin with Goldie and Regan were great to work with in planning the trip. When we got to the Lodge we met them and we felt more like family than guests. We had cabin #3 and it was perfect for the two of us. The beds were so comfortable that we slept soundly every night. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had a great view. We booked a guided fishing trip with Regan and found him to be knowledgeable, friendly and an outstanding guide. We had a great time fishing and really enjoyed ourselves and a lot of it is due to Goldie and Regan and their desire to provide customer care. If you are looking for a great place to stay this is it. There were families there and they were having a good time. Both my son and I agreed we would gladly stay there again. I have traveled extensively logging over 2,000,000 airline miles and have stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels and Mashkinonje Lodge is one the top places I have been to. Overall this couple really has the art of running a lodge down to the way to do it right.

Mashkinonje Lodge was all that we expected! From the first phone call to Goldie to arrange our stay, to the time we said goodbye to them, we felt like we belonged there. While the cottages are older, they have wonderful amenities. Little by little, she and her husband Regan are making important improvements. They have added decks, replaced the mattresses, added new kitchen utensils, dishes, cookware etc. We are considered "frequent lodgers" as we go to Canada each year to do some fishing. I always bring my own Sheets, blankets and kitchen towels, and I can tell you that they stayed in the car. The cottages were very clean, and I felt great about using their linens. We met great people, and while we usually try a new place each year, this is definitely one we will go back to. I totally recommend a vacation here!!

We had one of the best family holidays at Mashkinonje Lodge this Thanksgiving! Very lovely property with fantastic sunsets and amazing star gazing. Cottage front slips make accessibility to fishing easy and hassle free. Comfortable, clean and modern cottages with everything you need. Our hosts, the Thompson Family, were fabulous, charming and fun to hang out with! They even prepared a delicious traditional Thanksgiving dinner for all the guests to enjoy! There's plenty of relaxing to do here...

My wife Jovette and I had the pleasure of staying at the lodge from July 2 to July 9 2016. We were fortunate enough to get cottage 1, right on the water( 4 steps down from the cottage and you're on the dock). The sunsets every night were a vacation in themselves. Sitting on the dock, on the shore under the trees, or even at the table in the cottage, the view was simply awesome. Then there's the water. Miles and miles of northern shoreline with bays, points, shelves, wildlife of every kind( we saw a moose!!!), everything that a person could hope to find on a trip like this.
It took a few days and lots of casts to find them, but we had at least 100 fish. The last afternoon alone we caught over 20 in 2.5 hours. You have to come prepared to do some work, but a little diligence, talking to the locals and Reagan, and you will have success.
The great thing about fishing here was the comfort of the lodge. From the great beds( a must after 10 plus hours on the water) to the live entertainment and fish fry, to the all around warm and friendly environment provided by Goldie and Reagan, our stay was genuinely amazing. We highly recommend a stay here.

Mashkinonje Lodge is undoubtedly the best fishing lodge we have ever been to. All the previous reviews have mentioned many of the highlights but I will tell you ours as well. The location and view from the lodge is perfect and so beautiful. We loved being right on the water's edge in site of our boat at the dock. The cabin and docks were the best we have ever had. The cabins are so comfortable and clean with actual beds with new pillow top mattresses not bunks. All bedding is included. Our cabin #6 has a flat screen TV and WI Fi and a huge deck with a picnic table, umbrella, and BBQ grill. The docks are brand new with electric available for recharging our battery. It didn't take long to become friends with Goldie and Regan the owners. They are so accommodating in any way you may need. The BBQ on Wednesday night was a highlight with good food and music provided and visiting with the other guests. The sunsets are beautiful every night and so few bugs allowed us to sit out every day. The scenery and seclusion of this part of the river was what were hoping for and very little boat traffic. We saw loons and eagles every day. The drive to the lodge was great. We were coming from Vernon NY and the ride up was smooth sailing pulling our fishing boat. Little traffic and no road construction. We miss all our new friends already and look forward to seeing them again on a future trip. Goldie and Regan have plenty of ideas for even more updates to lodge. We highly recommend their lodge for a beautiful and relaxing trip.

This is a great place to stay if your family enjoys fishing and boating, we stay here with another family who are great friends of ours from our home town. The West arm is a beautiful area with great fishing especially for Pike , musky, or bass. This was my family's third stay at Mashkonje Lodge and my sons and I will be returning in September along with a few friends for a guy's trip, we love it here. Regan and Goldie are good hosts and are always improving the facility, since my first trip they have improved the docks, added decks to many of the cabins and updated the interiors. My family and I plan to make many trips here in the years to come.

Thanks for the great review Randy. As you know we are always investing and improving the property. A big addition for us this year was brand new 10x16 pressure treated decks for each of our cottages. We also improved our docks significantly. Next year we hope to tackle some major landscaping work! The fun never ends here at Mashkinonje. Look forward to having you and your family back in the fall!

My Family stayed here last July (2015). We stayed in the Chalet and it was a great week! The Chalet is very comfortable and cozy. It is also away from all the action so you get a nice relaxing stay. The Fishing was out of this world! I caught numerous pike and a couple of Bass. Didn't get any Muskie but the week we were there someone caught a 48" Muskie. Lots of spots to the north and to the west to fish. Regan and Goldie (the owners) were awesome! Very knowledgeable about the area and always friendly. They make you feel at home. Will be returning there in the future as we had a great week and a great vacation.

Hi Rob, Glad you were here for a great fishing window! Also glad you liked the Chalet. It is a popular cottage. This year we just refinished the entire exterior (siding/soffit/facia/trim). Check out the new pics on our website. Looking forward to having you back in the future! Thanks for your business!
