After my flight out out of MSP was cancelled, I was given a voucher to stay at this hotel since the next flight was in the morning. It was very nice, clean and comfortable. The person working the front desk when many of us arrived was a bit overwhelmed but polite and checked everyone in in a timely manner. The breakfast was a nice bonus and delicious. I plan to stay at this hotel the next time I visit family in the area.

Hotel's Favourite
The hotel is rather old but well maintained. The lobby area is small and the parking area surrounding the hotel is not brightly lit at night. The room is spacious and the beds are comfortable. There was a slight smoke smell in the hotel hallway. The breakfast is overall very good. The price that we got was excellent.

Clean room, full breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Pool water was warm! Could use additional seating in the pool area.
On a side note. The turkey sausage is not appetizing. I would go so far as to say you should stop serving it, but I have a feeling it’s a corporate thing.

The staff was very friendly and helpful but as soon as you walked into the room, you were hit with a wall of smoke. We asked for a different room but there were all booked. They gave us some air freshener spray to try to relieve some of the smoke smell but it didn’t work. We got 2 keys right away and only one actually worked. Not a bit deal. The pool water was murky. No pool towels were available as well. The hallway also smelled and the carpet was rippling. The sink in our bathroom wasn’t working properly. You could continuously turn the knob and it wouldn’t run any water depending on how the knob was. The bathroom fan was very loud and did absolutely nothing. So much steam after only a couple minutes. The breakfast was really good though, so that’s a plus. But when we went back to our room to pack up our stuff, our key wouldn’t work. We were supposed to stay two nights but checked out after 1. We ended up getting a small discount for the smoke smelling room.

I have stayed at this hotel several times, but am disappointed to report that it is in need of some serious updates. The staff was kind and welcoming, however the carpet in the room was worn and looked dirty, the sink stopper was broken and the wall heating/air unit was very loud. On the weekend days, there was not enough room in the breakfast area for all the diners, and the staff had a hard time keeping up with all the food replenishing that was necessary. I love the location, but probably will not stay there again.

- I made a reservation for a queen room about 4 months prior to our stay when I knew my daughter had a dance competition in Minneapolis. I spoke to an IHG associate and they confirmed my reservation for the room block with the local hotel’s staff. About 3 days prior, I contacted the hotel to let them know we wouldn’t need the additional days on our reservation. However, when the local person (Greg or Craig) at the hotel changed it and sent me a confirmation email, the email still was set with the additional days we did not plan to stay. I called again and spoke with him. He said that my confirmation email might still show the additional days, but not to worry as he guaranteed we would have a reservation when we arrived. Upon arrival, I was told our reservation was not in their system and the only room they could provide me with was a king suite. That meant some of us would have to sleep on a pullout. We took the room and when we came in, the door had about a 3/4 inch gap from the lock down clearly looking into the hallway. The problem with this was hearing all the noise of people going up and down the hallway as well as being near the exterior doors where people were coming in and out allowing cold air and cigarette smoke to come in our room. There were spiderwebs above the cabinet near the coffee maker which made me question how often the hotel offered this room. We left and came back later to the hotel after supper. Upon coming back, we heard what must have been the hvac system starting up and it sounded like a jet engine kicking on and you could feel the rumble of it throughout our room. This happened about every hour during the night. Our neighbors were extremely loud and rude until about 2:00 in the morning. Because of these things, I didn’t think the hotel offered this room unless they had no other options. I was told upon arrival to come down in the morning and meet with the manager to discuss a possible room change and when I was walking into the hall I noticed a strong marijuana smell. The hotel manager was nice enough to hold us a queen room for the following night, but the stay was quite an inconvenient experience as a whole.

Walking into the lobby, the first thing I noticed was badly stained armchairs. I thought they probably just had not had the chance to replace them. Should have taken it as a sign. The rest of the hotel was disgusting. Filthy floors and carpets.
The room carpet was so dirty we had to wear socks. The carpet was actually spongy from the accumulation of dirt. The bathroom was clean.
In the middle of the night, I pulled out the duvet from the plastic case to use on the bed. It was only in the morning light that I noticed a large dried urine stain on it. Assuming it had been overlooked, I left it open on the bed with the stain showing for the cleaners to take to the laundry and replace. When we got back to the room later, I opened the protective cover to see if the stained duvet had been replaced. The stained one had simply been folded up and put back. I took the matter to the manager who used the excuse that housekeeping is on demand (not sure how that matters if one can assume rooms are cleaned between visits). He gave us half off the one night price.
The staff were all friendly and pleasant but the place is in need of a big overhaul. Shame because the location is perfect. Close to Southdale Mall, Galleria and a number of excellent restaurants.

Only stayed here for one night, but it was a pleasant enough. This might seem like a minor thing to some, but for me, I absolutely loved the fact that the A/C in the room worked! There have been so many times staying at previous hotels that the AC/Heat didn't work well, or was underpowered, and that can mar the experience. Not so here. Beds were comfortable, the front desk staff was incredibly friendly, and there was a hot breakfast of eggs and sausages, plus cereals and yogurts and cinnamon rolls, etc.
Did not use the gym or pool, so I can't speak for those amenities, but if you're looking for a quick place to sleep while you're on your way to your destination, I would recommend this hotel.

I’m a Holiday Inn queen! They always (until today) treat me so well and thank me for my business and status. I just checked in with Stephanie and she told me there was a $15 parking fee per night. I was surprised however I understand that things change. She barked that it was on their website and posted at the front desk. I’m fine with paying. Then I asked if she had an upgrade for me and she told me I didn’t have high enough status to get one…in January I was in Montrose CO after skiing in telluride and flying out the next day. They put me in a HUGE suite and drove my friend and I to a restaurant even though they had no shuttle driver. After parking today and bringing in my suitcase I went again to the front desk as Stephanie’s shift was done. The girl at the front desk called over the manager to ask about an upgrade. The “manager” said he had upgrades available but would not give me one because I didn’t have high enough status. I’m stunned as I am a 60 year old woman traveling alone. Why would you not want to treat me well? Lots of other hotel options in Minneapolis….

The front desk person couldn't have been more unfriendly. Rooms could use more lighting really dark when working in the evening. There was only one bath towel which when unfolded was filthy...very annoying. When I went to bed the bottom sheet had a rip in it which I discovered when my foot got stuck. Sadly not the hotel experience it used to be. The room comes across as old and tired. I personally won't stay again.

During the weekdays our breakfast serves from 6:00 am to 9:30 am. On the weekends we currently serve from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm.
