Have stayed here previously and as we're were travelling this year around England made sure we returned here. We stayed on the area furthest from the entrance. The pitches are huge. We could put our American Winnebago, our Smart car plus a trailer on ad still have loads of room. We had a massive grassed area as well. Any other site would have put twice as many pitches in. We were overlooking nothing - the next campers/caravans were a long way away. Perfect peace and quiet. Total relaxation. The site is very well maintained and the grass is cut regularly. On the first area that you come to there is a huge field where children can play. There is a small area reserved for members of the Caravan Club (the other areas are nicer!!). The pitches on this bit are smaller and closer together BUT they are near the only toilet and shower block. If you don't like using your own van facilities this is a better area as from our pitch it's a reasonable walk. We use our own so didn't bother us one bit. The only thing I could suggest to improve is the gravel on the pitches could be compacted down as it's very loose and difficult to walk on. Also some of the tracks round the site would be better if they were tarmac not hard-core. They have introduced a new Static Caravan area since our previous visit. We walked round it and they are lovely. Most are now all sold. We visited the Dog and Gun in Knayton which was great. Just wish the weather had been better for our 14 night stay. Really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend. We will be back.

Stayed in the mega deluxe pod with a 10 year old and a 3 year old and it was perfect. It was very clean on arrival. We were issued with a crockery box but take note that there are no sharp knives or a tin opener included.
The shower was really spacious for such a small space, and if you are not a fan of camping, this is a great alternative.
We had beautiful views each morning and would definitely visit again.

Last minute, one night stay to get away for NYE. My partner and I took our two dogs and headed up for a quiet night away from the usual noise of fireworks (afraid / anxious dog).

Communications with the park were excellent. Pod was well appointed with very comfortable double bed. The wet room was small, but all that was needed, with toilet, sink and shower. We didn't use it, but the kitchenette had a small microwave and a kettle etc.

The site is a mix of static, touring and pods. Large areas for all and lots of local walks.

We booked Hillside for 2 nights away in their delux mega pods - we stayed in pod number 6. I cant praise the site or the pod enough! It was immaculate, and all the cutlery and crockery had been through the dishwasher prior to us arriving.
We had everything we needed and plenty of space inside. The photos dont show but there is also a little table for 2 in the pod, great for the kids to sit and eat their breakfast at. The site was incredibly well kept with a huge grassy area right in front of the pod for the kids to play on. They will soon be instaling a new play area, but our kids were more than happy with a field and a ball!!
The showers rooms were shut do to covid, but if they are as good as the rest of the site, they will be amazing!
You get the sun nearly all day so if the weather is in your favour, you can sit out on the picnic bench and eat your tea.
There is underfloor heating so the pod was nice and warm when it got cooler at night. The shower is hot and has good pressure. The little kitchenette was lovely and we had everything we needed; 5 of everything, frying pan, cooking pan, wooden spoon, scissors, spatula. The only thing it didnt have, looking back, was glasses for beer/wine, but we always take our own anyway.

We came here in storm Ciara! Even all that torrential rain and gale force winds could not destroy the beauty of this place. Off the beaten track and in an extremely peaceful spot, this is ideal for those who like to holiday with their canine friends. There are pathways around some of the farmland for you to walk with your dogs though you might need your wellies if it's been raining much. For the twitchers, there is an abundance of wild birds from buzzards to wrens. Listening to the birdsong in the peace and quiet of the morning is magical. Quite a few rabbits around and depending on the time of year pheasants too.
The attention to landscaping with hedgerows, trees and spring bulbs makes this site all the more outstanding. The views of the surrounding hills and moorland are spectacular. For caravanners the pitches are well spaced out and reasonably level too and the site is secure with cctv and a fob controlled gate.
The family who own and run this site are friendly and helpful.
Thirsk is just a short drive away with access to supermarkets shops and cafes. The area also has some great walking being just on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

Lovely touring site with all the amenities that you would need.
Check in is simple and the girl gave all the relevant information needed. Access from the A19 is easy as it’s a straight road to the entrance and loads of passing places.
There are a range of hard standing and grass pitches with EHU and all have plenty of space between them so you don’t feel on top of each other. The toilet block is modern and clean, with the usual laundry room and pot washing room. Toilets and showers have underfloor heating.
We visited mid week and the site was nice and quiet.
The whole site is well maintained, there is a play park and football field for kids, reception area also sells the essentials and there is a coffee lounge with free Wi-Fi. Site wide Wi-Fi is available for a £1 per day per device which is good value, although can be a little flaky at times.
Site staff are very helpful, especially Mark who I think runs the site who helped me sort out an electrical issue with my van.
Good location to explore the local area, I can recommend Thirsk market town it’s self, nice when the weather is on your side. The world of James Herriot is definitely worth a visit, the garden centre just outside of Thirsk is also good and has a large restaurant. Further afield Nunnington hall and Gardens is a good day out along with a visit to Helmsley.
All in all a lovely site, great relaxing location and we will definitely be going back.

Just returned from a 3 night stay in a mega pod with our 6 month old puppy. We loved every minute! Quiet, clean and really comfortable. Some lovely walks straight from the site and only a short drive to Sutton Bank Centre for longer walks with spectacular views.
Would highly recommend hiring the bbq as only other option for cooking is a microwave.
We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We had initially booked this site to visit in April for a family members birthday but had to postpone due to covid :( but managed to get re-booked as we were a family group of 3 caravans an a motor home the owners managed to camp us all close to each other which was an added bonus for us all - the site facilities were still closed due to the covid but wasn’t an issue to any of us as we were on full service pitches .
The sites pitches are of excellent size An very well spaced out - the grounds are kept immaculately clean .
We visited the local pub In The village which we were made to feel very welcome An was kept within the gov guidelines for the present situation.
We would definitely recommend Hillside An will definitely visit again in the future thankyou for an excellent stay :)

Stayed here last year, and again this year in july 2020, nice site, stayed on the lakeside both times, love it. however this time we had an issue which ment we couldn't make our 3 night stay, rang up and explained the situation, but told we couldn't change the dates or have a credit to use unless the pitch was re let, we thought it may be ok as there was a couple of days until our date so hoped it would get re let. It didnt which means we have now lost £115 and cannot change the dates. we have been caravanning for 2 years now and have had problems in the past and had to cancel elsewhere and offered new dates in the bink of an eye so this seems like abit of a kick in the teeth. We were planning on going to hillside for the rest of this year as we are not wanting to travel far from home with whats going on. We would probably still go back but we definatley wont be booking in advance in the future.

all facilities are closed and the kids park is dismantled, which is good in my opinion, however seems abit harsh that we paid an extra £18 to include 2 children on the booking when they are in the same caravan on the same pitch using no facilities at all.

all in all its a nice spacious site with nice scenic views, just a shame there was no compromise with moving dates or even getting a part credit or something. shame.

The Hillside Caravan Park is an absolute gem. We recently stayed at Hillside from Friday till Monday and when we arrived our caravan which is in storage was ready for our arrival. It meant just connecting the Services. Hillside facilities are excellent with the toilet block spotless and underfloor heating for added comfort. This is our second time to stay here and the reception staff are excellent and extremely helpful and friendly,a credit to Hillside . We can't wait for our next trip. We have no hesitation in recommending Hillside to anyone. Many thanks for an enjoyable stay , Tim and Christine

There is no immediate public transport to Thirsk, which is only 4 to 5 miles away. The village of Knayton is about 1.5miles from the site but again I cannot recall seeing any public transport. A short taxi trip may be the best option, also have a word with Pat or Chris from the site as they will know for sure.
