I called Jane (I believe) from work and asked if she could arrange a trip for me and my wife in 2 weeks. She did a great job securing the permits and choosing an appropriate week long last minute trip.when we arrived I had mentioned...More
Steve, Jane, and James are amazing hosts. The gear and amenities they provide are top-notch (not the case with all outfitters in Ely), and the personal touch the attend to details with is always appreciated. As a former educator who has taken students to the...More
My wife and I recently spent a wonderful week at River Point in mid-Sept, 2016, and it was pretty much perfect (it usually is). The weather was great, fishing was quite good, and the accommodations were really spectacular. We tried a "cabin" we had never...More
This was the 7th trip we have taken to Riverpoint and we have never been disappointed. The cabin we stay in, has this gorgeous view of the lake and is very convenient for our boat. This time we brought along our whole family. The town...More
Wow. This place is wonderful. Very nice accommodations, very friendly and helpful staff, and the location is simply gorgeous. We did have some noisy neighbors one night, but overall it was quiet and peaceful, and except for some rainy days, it was just about perfect....More

Hi Steve Gumins, This is Jane, owner of River Point. We are most pleased that your group of five persons stayed with us for just the one night, August 22, following your canoe trip into the BWCA. You came with one more person than what was reserved, but fortunately the Villa had five beds, including the sleeper sofa in the living room. So, this spacious two bedroom did work out well, plus it had a large bath with a huge whirlpool tub and shower. Something to enjoy after bathing in the lakes. I checked you into the Stoneridge Villa, which is lakefront. I am a bit confused by your comments, as there is nothing to obstruct the beautiful view to the east from this upper level Villa, which has an extra vantage point. There is a short piece of lawn out front, and then the small drive (which is only used to access the Villas to unload, as you are aware) and then more green lawn with the fire pit at water's edge. All total 140 feet to the water's edge with an unobstructed view (exactly like the photo on the website). Certainly loads closer than the Grand Ely lodge's is to Shagwa Lake, which you indicated you usually stay at. Both my husband, Steve, and I thought you and your family were delightful and were most happy to speak with you.Steve remembers that you called before coming out and he answered your questions regarding our Guest Laundry facilities onsite. He explained that we had two washers and only one operational dryer, as the other had just malfunctioned just this week. I heard his part of the conversation with you, and truthfully, in my opinion, there was nothing unfriendly or unhelpful about what he said.He simply wanted you to know in advance that the time for drying your soiled clothes would take longer. So, once again, i am confused by your comments, but if you found anything offensive, we are most sorry for that. And, we wish you well on your future canoe trips to the Ely area and your lodging stay, where ever you may go to. Best regards, Jane Koschak
