We wanted to visit Grand Marais for the weekend so we rented Cabin 9 and our friends rented Cabin 8. It was neat and clean and cozy, just like the website described it. I loved the fluffy towels. The staff people were friendly and we will stay again when we have the chance. Easy access to Cascade State Park, Superior...

I'm glad you liked our little cabins and found our laundry to be exceptional. Our head housekeeper has taken a lot of time and effort to provide our guests with the very best! Michael O'Phelan Owner

The hall way upstairs had a stale odor. The room was clean and comfortable. Could use some TLC...door knobs are loose. Friendly people, quiet, would definitely stay again. The view is amazing! The lake is across the road. There is a fire ring there you can also go sit down by the lake...read a book or have a glass of...

Spent 3 nights and loved it. Nice old style hotel with wonderful hosts and employees. Plan on returning next year. We loved the location- close to Grand Marais and next to Cascade State Park. Enjoyed a guided wildflower tour on the grounds given by a state forest ranger. The hotel has a lovely area right on the lake to sit...

We were in cabin 12. I could sit on that great deck next to the creek all day! Loved the rocking deck chairs. Beautiful location but no view of the lake. Beds and pillows were firm, I would've brought my own pillow. Everything was immaculately clean. There was no hair dryer and no paper towels or napkins in the kitchen....

Thanks for your comments and taking the time to review our property. I am super happy you would return. We don't offer paper products for eating or our kitchen as we try to adhere to environmentally sound practices and as such, we provide as many wash rags and drying cloths as you deem necessary. Our housekeepers visit everyday to fill...

Spent 1 night at Cascade Lodge in Cabin 8 with a last minute booking. While cabin 8 hasn't been updated much (I believe it will be the last cabin to be updated), it was rustic but very cute, had a deck with nice chairs and Weber grill, was perfectly comfortable and clean as a whistle. My daughter and her family...

Thanks for your detailed review of our property! As you noted, the need for air conditioning on the North Shore is next to nil and for the cost, we simply cannot justify it! We are lucky to have the worlds largest air conditioner--Lake Superior-- right out our front door cooling everything, not just your room! Just FYI--Cabin 8 is the...

A little overpriced for what you get. We stayed in Cabin 11. It's an old cabin from the 40's or 50's that had a bathroom added on in the 60's or 70's. It's very dark inside, but we didn't spend a lot of time inside anyway. They did, however, have cable, wifi and a new TV. The floor of cabin...

Thanks for reviewing our resort. Just FYI--Cabin 11, known by many as the "honeymoon cabin" is our oldest structure dating back to 1927. Their are 3 others like it, Cabin 1, 2 and 3. Cascade has an interesting history and originally, had out houses, then moved to shared baths, now all units have private baths. We market these as "Rustic,...

We spend 2 nights at the Cascade Lodge as the last leg of our 10-day NE Minnesota birding trip. We were glad that we stayed at this lodge instead of busy and crowd Grand Marais area. The Lodge offers hotel room style accommodation as well as cabins and a walking-distance restaurant. We stayed at the main lodge building with the...

A very nice location right next to Cascade Park. The trails along the Cascade River are manageable by most hikers. You can join the trails right from the Cascade Lodge. You have a great view of Lake Superior and the deck on the south side of the lodge was very relaxing. We stayed in a rustic cabin and were quite...

We stayed two nights in room 104 (the honeymoon suite). Loved the private patio and lake views. At times, the truck traffic was a bit loud but it never kept us up. We stayed at the main lodge. It's a very old building so the walls are paper thin. We could here everything. The people next door to us were up with their little kids until 2 am talking and yelling at them. It was more of a mtater of poor parenting rather than a problem with Cascade Lodge. I complained when...

I'm sorry your stay at Cascade Lodge was disrupted by other guests. I appreciate you noting that it was not Cascade but the other guests that were the problem. This happens at all hotels from time to time and is unfortunate. For the record, all of our rooms have insulated interior walls to cut down on noise and our room...
