All rooms at this overly expensive spot have okay balconies that face Lake Superior. They serve a decent breakfast, but their WiFi was on the fritz ... we'd read that it's always that way. At $123 per night it's way over the top, but many of their competitors charge more. I think if I was travelling this way again, I...

By far an AMAZING place to stay! Don't be alarmed by the location it is a great get-off stop. Near Lutsen, near Temperance River , near Grand Marias many many breath taking views. We also slept with the screen door open and listened to the waves all night, the room is a bit smaller thatn your big fancy motels, but...

My sister & I stayed the weekend at the Cliff Dweller on July 12th & 13th 2013, & what a great hotel this was. Our room was newly renovated (201) & we had a very comfortable stay here. The room is just a bit smaller than your typical hotel room, but when you walk out onto the deck, you will...

We used this motel based on other positive Trip Advisor reviews, and people were spot-on. It's a very comfortable place with a few choice amenities when you're visiting the North Shore. It's a motel and the rooms were smaller than we're used to, but we still fit a family of 4 comfortably. They had a nice table and we were...

I'll break down the pros and cons. Pros: The AMAZING view of lake Superior Refrigerator and microwave in the room The view Good breakfast in the morning including eggs made by the innkeepers Friendly staff Did I mention the view???!!! Cons: The beds were uncomfortable, very "springy" but that's just me, I'd rather have a firm mattress A little isolated,...

When you stop at a local hotel, you're never quite sure what you'll get - but we found that we were very pleased. The room was well sized and well arranged, lighting good, clean, bed comfortable, breakfast area neat and tidy with a good variety of the normally available items (at most motels). And an extra was the view of...

This was my third trip to the North Shore since 2008, and each time I've stayed at the Cliff Dweller. The new owners are just as wonderful as the previous owner, and I didn't want to leave. The room was spotless, the view was breathtaking, and I felt right at home....again. I slept with the balcony doors open to the...

I've stayed here off and on through the years with little to recommend. That has all changed with the new owners. My room was lovely and comfortable with a wonderful view of the Big Water. The log style furniture is perfect for the location. My bed was very comfortable and the fridge and microwave very convenient. In the evening and...

We were apprehensive after seeing several bad reviews, but we spent last weekend at this cozy motel and found it to be very nice. The place has been recently remodelled and under new ownership. The room was very clean and comfortable. The view of Lake Superior was worth the trip and the sounds of the waves crashing into the rocks...

Great location -- loved listening to the waves crashing on the shore just outside the door, even in the winter. Stayed here while skiing at Lutsen, which is just minutes up the road. Cliff Dweller is by far the most affordable hotel in the area. Room was small but clean and mini-fridge and microwave were nice to have. Continental breakfast...
