Situated in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, the newly built Hampton Inn & Suites Minneapolis/Downtown hotel in MN is close to the art and business district, and several Minneapolis colleges and universities, including the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities. We are connected to the city's iconic climate-controlled Skyway, placing us minutes from the Convention Center, Hennepin Avenue, Nicollet Mall, amazing restaurants, and vibrant nightlife.
This downtown Minneapolis hotel is within walking distance of Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins and Target Center, and home of the Minnesota Timberwolves. We are also less than three blocks from the revolutionary Hiawatha Light Rail Line, providing easy connectivity to the MSP International Airport and the Mall of America. A short stroll to the Mississippi River waterfront takes you to the Mill District - a historical area that boasts fine dining, gorgeous parks, striking views of Saint Anthony Falls, and walking and bike paths.
Got a breakthrough case of COVID 3 days before our trip and the hotel did absolutely NOTHING to try and work with us to secure another date. Instead we were told to send private health information to them and our booking site so that they could potentially do something, but even then it wasn't a guarentee. Absolutely disgusted by the fact this place praises themselves for their safety protocols but does nothing to help sick guests reschedule to avoid spreading the virus.
Ryan at thr front desk was very friendly and helpful. Check in was fast. Free upgrade to a better room without even asking. Clean a hotel in a good location. Can't think of anything bad to say about the hotel. I was stay here again when in the area.
So this would be an excellent rating and it's no fault of the hotel itself but they might want to add security to the parking lot. We watched from our window as people used the paid parking lot as a place to do drugs. Using peoples cars as a shield from the wind as they lit up whatever drug they were taking a hit of. This is a paid parking lot and is probably privately owned so I'm not sure if the hotel can even do anything. We parked in the ramp and it felt safe enough as it was connected to the skyway and we never had to step foot outside if we didn't want to. For that option alone I would stay here anytime I had to be downtown. The hotel itself is very nice and I would definitely recommend!
Very clean rooms, When checking in to our room the front staff clerk was very nice and helpful. The free beakfast was good. Great location downtown. However, paying for parking daily was expensive. I would definitely recommend them.
Totally unsafe neighborhood. I’ve visited multiple cities and never felt uncomfortable until this trip. Most cities if you don’t bother people they don’t bother you… not Minneapolis. They lock the main door and tell you not to go out at night. My hotel view was a wall. During the day waiting for an Uber a man stopped his car to get out and charge up to us yelling to leave his neighborhood. I wish I would have been warned about this before wasting my money and time on this location. My favorite part of the trip was leaving!
