We booked 1 Bdrm King Whirlpool Suite for 383.78 Taxes not included for 2 nights. Thus not their cheapest room --- almost $200 a night. I was shocked that front desk staff were not required to wear masks and only had a 4x6 piece of plastic (with a significant opening) in it separating them from guests. I asked them why they weren't wearing masks (as mandated in MN) was told they weren't required to and didn't put one one even though I requested that they do so. In addition, the main TV in the suite did not work for most of the time of our stay (front desk staff kept resetting it 5-10x) and it would work for a while then not. Then the remotes stopped changing channels and they had no backups. Bagged breakfast, while a nice idea, was terrible with packaged hard boiled eggs that had a funny taste and other poor quality packaged food. Some positives: Room was simple and a little worn but large, bed was comfortable, whirlpool worked well, convenient ice machine, chair and sofa were comfortable. But the lack of a working TV and NO staff masking made me decide never to come back.…
Booked and paid on line at the Grandstay website. Easy to use. Arrived late. The GM was on duty and greeted me as I walked up to the check in desk. She had my reservation printed and keycardd ready. Clean room comfortable bed and nice selection of toiletries. The breakfast was not available due to the current health concerns. I would stay at a Grandstay in the future
Nice clean hotel. Very adequate breakfast with hot selections. Quiet room & hallways. We slept soundly on comfortable beds & nice pillows, and had a wonderful hot shower in the morning. Would definitely stay here again.
In a town full of smaller private locations that aren't always kept up, this place has just undergone a new remodel and is the best place to stay in town. Continental breakfast is also included. Has a large pool area and a good variety of rooms to chose from. Always our first recommendation.
We were in town for a ball tournament. There are not any choices close by for hotels. I first called and booked the only room they had left which was a honeymoon suite. I called a few days later as I hadn’t received my requested confirmation via email. The man on the phone was most helpful! I asked if he had any cancellations and he did so we were able to get into a king suite instead. He also made me aware that I could use my AAA discount which the lady on the first phone call didn’t tell me about. We arrived early at the hotel after driving 5 hours. There were a number of people sitting outside smoking. I thought they were guests. After walking through the smoke to go see if we could check in early, a dog darted passed us inside the hotel and scared the heck out of my son and I who are greatly not fond of dogs. It ended up being a dog of someone behind the desk. A couple of the two outside smoking came inside and we realized they were the desk clerks for the hotel. We asked if there was any chance of checking in early and all we got was “no, we’ve been very busy and still cleaning rooms.” I get that but to further their customer service, they could have followed that by feel free to sit in our lobby or in the dining area. Feel free to use our public restroom. Or maybe here is a list of things you could do in town while you are waiting, etc. We sat outside in our car in the heat with doors open and watched the maids almost constantly coming out for a smoke break. The hotel really needs to find a place other than next to the front door for their employees to smoke. The hotel is a bit run down. The ceiling in the bathroom looked especially bad along with dirty exhaust fan and hair in the tub and on the bathroom floor at check in. The size of our room was very nice and it had a separate room with a door for the bedroom. Too bad the place isn’t a little cleaner. The WiFi there is terrible. We couldn’t get on it most of the weekend and if we did, it was very spotty. We talked to front desk about it and she said she was having problems too on her phone and that she would reboot the router. It didn’t help. Both mornings we were there, they had no eggs for breakfast which we thought strange. It was nice to have breakfast available but pretty mediocre. Again, this is the only hotel available in Montevideo and you would have to go to another town to find another. But many of those were filled as well. We opted for what we got because of the convenience of being just blocks away from the ball field.…
