We had a delightful time! As a business traveler, I stay in hotels 3-5 days a week, and it gets really old. The atmosphere at Outing Lodge was completely different and so comfortable and inviting. It was a nice way for my fiancee and I to spend a little time together. The staff members were all very warm and welcoming,...

Thank you for your review! Our hospitality ideal is to create a feeling of 'home' for our guests.. . and we are grateful to you for appreciating the difference! We have also traveled staying in large luxury 'hotels' and 'resorts' and we enjoyed the trips as a 'change to our routine' ... but we could never feel 'at home".

This was our first experience at a B&B, so we weren't sure what to expect other than what people had shared with us regarding their experiences at other B&Bs. The Good: -Great location just 10 minutes north of Stillwater. Secluded in a woodsy location. -Good if not great breakfast. Eggs made to order, fresh fruit and fresh baked pastries. -Spacious...

We appreciate your feedback. We can only improve where we know our weaknesses are, and we agree with you that there is always room for improvement and development in many parts of our house and service. In general, we agree with you that there is much to do in order to fairly compare this 1858 property with more 'effcient' and...

We had a wonderful time, from the warm greeting at the front desk, to our charming, warm, and rustic room. The entire lodge, including our room was very clean. The suggestion of the Luna Rosa restaurant was perfect for our intimate "runaway" weekend. The food both at the restaurant and at the Lodge was very, very good. Check out was...

My husband and I stayed here for one night (we used a crowd cut coupon). I do not understand the negative reviews we read about this place. We had a great stay. I loved the atmosphere in the main room, with its giant fireplace that always had a nice fire going in it, and I loved the low-key feel of...

Wonderful ambiance and great customer service! We walked into a welcoming staff and fire in the main room. We'd love to go back during the summer to explore the trails, but it was fun and cozy even during winter.

We had a fabulous time at this rustic B&B inn. We enjoyed our quiet, quaint room with gas fireplace. The atmosphere of the inn is very warm and inviting. Breakfast was delicious! We'll definitely be back.

My fiancee and I just stayed the night at this place. We had a wonderful experience because of the old world charm and character of the building as well as the friendly interactions with staff/owners. Yes, there were a few things that weren't exactly "perfect" but that is not what we were expecting. It is a lodge built in the...

We booked our stay with a Crowd-cut coupon in hand. We arrived and greeted by friendly staff. We stayed in the Pablo Picasso room. The bed was squeeky and uncomfortable. The bathroom was not renovated and reminded me of the nursing home that this place used to be! The hot water was a long time in arriving. The tv/dvd player...

My husband and I purchased a Crowd Cut coupon for a weekend get-a-away. The outing lodge is beautiful and has an old world charm. Unfortunately, we arrived while a wedding was taking place in the lobby, so our initial greeting was "shhh". Once we moved out of that entry, we were taken to the Robert Frost room - very comfortable...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
19th Century History Preserved at the Outing Lodge European style 19th century country home, surrounded by lawns and gardens with 300 acres of wooded park land ~ a place where people would go to get away from modern city life. Pine Point was founded in 1858 as Minnesota's second "poor farm," a home for the chronically indigent or those temporarily down on their luck. Stillwater was a wealthy community in 1850, the territorial capital. In this abundant atmosphere, a desire to help the less fortunate culminated in the construction of this poor farm. The prize-winning dairy farm became both a home and a workplace to thousands of needy for almost 100 years. When the farm was closed in 1957, the land was planted in pine trees, now Pine Point Park. The house went on for 20 years as a Rest Home. In the 1980s, to save it from proposed demolition, Lee Gohlike began its renovation. He gutted its interiors with a reverence for its historic past: wide-planked wooden floors cut from old pine beams provide a perfect backdrop to the many elegant antique furnishings, numerous candelabra and massive fireplaces. Featured in Midwest Traveler, Star Tribune and other local & national publications, this beautiful Georgian home is a destination for exclusive retreats & events. Guests enjoy cross-country skiing, horseback and biking trails connecting to the Metro system. Theme dinner calendar of events. ... more   less
