I and a friend decided to go and Kayak the Root River. My Hubby found this B&B online, and gave us a great deal thru Living Social. When we arrived we were impressed with Megan, the owner. She was warm, welcoming and very accommodating. The rooms were beautiful, fresh, and very comfortable. We were enchanted with the Wenneson, it's truly...

We went on our annual fall bike ride and wanted to avoid the crowded Root River trail near Lanesboro. Unfortunately we got the coldest and rainiest weekend of the fall. The saving grace was the Wenneson Historic Inn in Peterson. We stayed in the skillfully renovated bank building, about a block from the inn, named Pengers Vault. And yes, the...

We biked here from Lanesboro on the Root River Trail. We didn't make a reservation beforehand, anywhere. When we arrived in the afternoon we were happy to learn that Pam and Barry had a few rooms available. We didn't make our decision to call and make a reservation until after we checked Lanesboro. Pam told me it was no problem...

We had very nice accommodations (Coachman's Room) for our July bicycling weekend on the Root River Trail. Peterson proved to be a nice jumping off spot for our rides: to the west on Saturday and to the east on Sunday. Peterson is very small, so driving the short trip to Rushford or a bit further in the opposite direction to...

The terrible reviews--responded to by the owner--are, i'm guessing, some sad attempt at a social media blitzkrieg by a group of nimrods. On our visit, the trash was taken out, there was plenty of toilet paper, and everything was great. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I'm not a huge fan of the decor (yeah......

First time at this bed and breakfast. My husband and I stayed in the Loft. Cute little room with skylights. Breakfast was fruit, cereal, waffles, pastries, English muffins, juice, coffee, tea. We will definitely recommend to others. Barry and Pam are wonderful.

Discovered while searching for B&B's near Lanesboro for an anniversary weekend. What a find! Right next to the Root River trail so great access. I'm really glad we stayed here rather than in Lanesboro. Fun to bike to Lanesboro but wonderful to retreat back to the Wenneson Inn for peace and quiet away from the hubbub. Our room was beautiful...

This is the second time we have visited the Wenneson and it did not disappoint. Barry and Pam are great hosts who have only your comfort in mind. This B&B is located about 14 miles from Lanesboro, so it's outside the hustle and bustle of all that goes on in Lanesboro, yet is a good bike ride into Lanesboro. This...

We found this B&B online . I needed a quiet place to relax near Lanesboro and am so glad to have found the Wenneson in Peterson. We stayed in the Coachman room in the carriage house which was upstairs. It had several skylights, tall ceiling , comfortable bed and 2 comfy chairs, and was spacious. I was surprised how much...

Barry and Pam have the personalities and fine craftsman and decorating skills needed to turn an old building with lots of character into an inviting and comfortable place to stay. We came to ride the trails and were very impressed with this establishment and its owners. They keep on raising the bar for themselves with every improvement they make. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Andor Wenneson Inn was built in 1904 along the tracks of the Southern Minnesota Railroad, now the beautiful Root River State Trail. Built by businessman W. Andor Wenneson, the hotel served rail travelers coming through Peterson for many years. The building changed hands several times, also serving as a boarding house and eventually as apartments. It then sat empty for about ten years. In 1994, it was completely restored and renovated to its historical beauty and charm. In 2001, the carriage house was built into four more rooms, making a total of nine rooms in the Inn. Each room is complete with a private bath available for guests, including two with whirlpool tubs. The third-floor suite has two bedrooms and a sitting room; with elegant dormers and window seats overlooking the courtyard and bluffs. ... more   less
