The hotel itself it stately. We stayed in a room, king size bed. We had plenty of room to move around. The bathroom was good size as well. Nothing fancy but it is a historic hotel so wouldn't expect fancy. The room was clean, the bed pretty comfortable. I would not recommend staying here on a Monday, though. The hotels...

The National Trust for Historic Preservation placed Red Wing, MN on its 2008 distinctive destinations list - and the historic St. James Hotel dates to 1875. We have stayed at the St. James twice, and plan to return. This year family came from MA, OH, IA and MN to celebrate Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving buffet was outstanding and included all the...

This is a beautiful, historic property with so many lovely things to see, but it does need a little improvement. Our room looked a little tired, we stayed in a 2 bedroom, full size beds and the bathroom vanity is oak and rather scarred, the wall paper int he bedroom was also missing and ripped in one area. We only...

Hi Carrie, Thank you for your comments and feedback. Long list of things to do with a historical hotel but rest assured bathroom remodels is on that list! Come back when you can. Take care :) Jackie

Stayed over Thanksgiving. The hotel is impressive and the lobby area is beautiful especially with the Christmas decorations. Despite being 140 years old, the hotel is in great condition. There is some wear and tear in the room, but would be expected. Had an unimpressive and unpleasant dining and customer service experience at Jimmy's Pub, so I would suggest other...

My nephew was married at the St. James. The guests stayed at the hotel, and both the wedding and the reception took place there. It was beautiful, elegant, accommodating - every aspect of the wedding was beautiful and our very large family enjoyed our visit. I requested a walk-in shower, due to knee issues. At no extra cost, I was...

What I was hoping to be a very romantic weekend, turned out to be average. Though I purchased the romance package, they was little that made it romantic. Yes the dinner in the restaurant was very good, yes we had a bottle of champagne in our room, but we also had 2 queen beds instead of 1 king, the view...

This is one of my favorite hotels. The staff is awesome and is always willing to help. The rooms are all different and it has a great charm. The other thing that makes the hotel special is that the restaurant in the basement is one of the best in Red Wing. The breakfast is really good as well. You will...

Thank you for your comments :) Each room is indeed different and named after a steamboat that is either still running or retired. Glad to hear you enjoyed your meal in the Port and breakfast in the Veranda. Come back and see us again. Thanks again, Jackie

I love everything about this hotel. Beautiful room, great restaurant, and very friendly staff. I'm a light sleeper and the trains haven't bothered me at all. Room 403 is awesome. I have a view of the Mississippi River and the side street because it's a corner room with 4 windows, and they all open!

We had a wonderful stay at the St James. Friendly staff, quiet room (Sea Wing) and the softest sheets we've ever slept on! In fact at first we thought maybe they were almost threadbare, like an old t-shirt that gets soft just before it wears out; but no, they were quite thick. I need to call the hotel and get...

My husband and I stayed one night at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing. It is definitely a one of a kind hotel. The main level has beautiful rooms to sit in and relax with a cup of coffee or tea in the morning. We had a great breakfast at The Veranda restaurant in the hotel. Our room was...
