The location of the hotel was wonderful - easy drive and walk to lots of restaurants (including Grand Ave). Interior is newer and updated, and rooms are spacious; decor is what i would call masculine minimalism. A few minor issues: the bed is VERY firm (which is great for some, but uncomfortable for me), and the bathroom fan is very loud and on 24/7 (had to keep the door closed). Also, while the room said it was a king bed, it felt like a slightly bigger queen bed (definitely not standard king). The breakfast was great - lots of healthy and indulgent options. Lots of parking garages nearby, but limited street parking so ended up doing $20/day valet. Most of the staff was nice and friendly. The pool and jacuzzi were quite nice and completely deserted when we visited. Would stay here again.

We chose this location based on its proximity to the nearby hospital. We had several rooms with family members coming and going on different days. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating with all the various changes we had to make as our situation changed. Really made our stay very easy at an otherwise difficult time. New building, pristine and well-sized rooms. Exceptionally well run hotel.

My family got 'stuck' in the Residence Inn as we were moving from Puerto Rico to Minnesota. We didn't know anyone and everything was closed.
Needless to say by my property rating score, they didn't make us feel 'stuck in a hotel' at all! While doing everything they could to ensure cleanliness and prevent the spread of germs, they also maintained a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I have grown accustomed to chatting with Nicole in the afternoon and Tony in the early morning hours.
I haven't just been given an 'above average' stay while I've been here. I've truly been given a little home away from home - even without the gym, pool, breakfast, and other things that we generally think of when we picture a great hotel. I've learned that, like the bed and breakfasts and small town inns that came before larger hotel chains like Marriott, sometimes someone knowning your dog's name and what time you run in the afternoon is a better hotel ammenity than any hot breakfast could ever be.
It's been three weeks here now, and it's funny to say it, but I'll be sad to leave my little room at the Residence Inn - Downtown Saint Paul. Even more so, I'll be sad to leave the people that welcomed me into that room and welcomed me into Saint Paul with the better first impression than I could have expected.

spent two nights here and was impressed at the convenience of being downtown and still having a great place to stay that was more then one room. We had a kitchen, living room and bedroom and bath. free hot breakfast was included. I highly recommend this one. they also offer transportation to local events free and if it snows they clean your car off and have it all ready for you to get in and go. it was great because we got 10 inches of snow the night before we left and our car was clean and ready to drive when we left.

We chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to the Xcel Center, and it did not disappoint. Rooms were clean and spacious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The biggest surprise, though, was how quiet the rooms were. Despite being sold out, we couldn’t hear our neighbors to the side or above/below. The hallways were quiet too. The free breakfast was above average, but skip it an go next door to Hope Breakfast.

Room Tip:Â The breakfast spot (Hope) next door may be the best breakfast of anywhere in U.S.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. I didn’t have any issues. It’s right in downtown St. Paul and it’s a new hotel. The inside pool and jacuzzi were fabulous. They have a shuttle that will take you anywhere within a 3-mile radius. The manager, Sha’, was amazing. The customer service was great. This hotel is right across the street from the Children’s Hospital. The rooms are spacious too. If you have a car, there’s not much parking and I think there’s a $20 fee per day. The property offers free buffet breakfast. It was good and has healthy options. Next door is the Hope Bar which I also recommend. I definitely recommend the Residence Inn.

Stayed at the property for the first time during a busy weekend in St. Paul. Clean room, good location, and breakfast was nice. Dana at the front desk was incredibly helpful in answering questions ahead of the visit and a delight in person. She helped us get checked in efficiently so we could be on our way, and also gave us good suggestions to make the most of our time in St. Paul. Sha at the front desk also was great and helpful in making the rest of our stay enjoyable. Would absolutely stay here again for the location and excellent service!

Pros: Room was very spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. Breakfast was well stocked and breakfast area very clean. Free laundry machines!
Cons: I would have given 5 stars if not for the front desk staff who were not very friendly on either the day or night shifts. They seem easily distracted with their own conversations. I had to ask about basic things: breakfast time, shuttle, parking. No explanation on anything upon arrival.
A note that parking can be different in front of the hotel. Valet parking is the only option.

Terrible customer service. We arrived at noon and they told us to come back at 4 so we did. Stood in line with only one person checking people in for over 30 minutes. Then someone brought out our bags that we had given them earlier in the day for someone other than us. How does that happen, we still had our tickets for the bags? Luckily we were there to say they were ours, otherwise anyone could of took them. Then when we inquired how that could happen we were given attitude and rude treatment. Actually all we wanted was an apology but we were treated with more attitude and a defiance of saying I will not apologize not only when checking in but when coming through the lobby later that evening. We are platinum members and have never had to deal with something like this. We asked to have someone talk to us after the second time of getting attitude and instead security was sent. Security??After checking out I have emailed twice trying to get someone to respond and have received nothing.

If you need a place to stay close to all the action of St Paul, this is your place. Xcel and many great restaurants are within walking distance. If you prefer, they also have a shuttle that will take you anywhere within reason ( I think it was 3 miles). This would also be a great place for anyone needing to be close to Children's St Paul or United ( literally across the street) The rooms are clean and fresh, staff were warm and welcoming, and breakfast was very good for a complimentary spread.
Favorite parts: - Massive showers with a ledge for your foot for shaving ( ladies- when do you EVER see that in a hotel?!?) - Great pool/hot tub and workout facility - Onsite laundry - Full kitchen in the unit
Things I wasn't fond of: -Parking is valet only and is $20 per night. I mean it is downtown St Paul so it is to be expected, but still a bummer. - Sometimes could hear an ambulance. I mean, also to be expected as it is RIGHT next to two major hospitals.
Overall would highly recommend!
