DoubleTree by Hilton St. Paul Downtown is centrally located to many local attractions, area businesses and local attractions. We are only 10 miles from the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP). The DoubleTree is perfect for both leisure and business travelers. The hotel is connected by an indoor skyway that connects guests to state, federal and corporate offices. Corporate businesses within close proximity to the hotel include: 3M, Ecolab, GE Retail, Gander Mountain, Lawson Software, Securian, and US Bank. We are also located near the St. Paul River Center Convention Center. Entertainment is convenient with our city center location. Enjoy St. Paul's many delicious restaurants or shop one of our local businesses all located within short distance from the hotel. DoubleTree by Hilton St.

This hotel has seen better days. Little shabby for a Hilton property. There was a lot of construction in the immediate area with streets blocked off and torn up. Parking in the ramp was easy and cost $24 (with tax) for a one night stay. Our room was a bit dingy with rusty bathroom fixtures and a lot of dust behind the beds. I was looking for an electrical outlet behind the bed and was really disgusted by all the dust. My dust allergy kicked in and didn’t stop until hours after we’d left. We were unable to control the temperature of the room and it was cold enough that we needed extra blankets from the car. There was a thermostat but it didn’t work, just continued to blow cold air. (Room 764) The walls seemed thin as we could hear every door being shut/slammed and people in the next room could be heard talking and listening to music. I don’t think they were being that loud, just little or no sound proofing. Check in was easy once the staff member put down his cell phone and acknowledged us (we realized later we never got offered the proverbial cookies upon check in). The hostess at the restaurant was really nice. Pizza there looked good. I wouldn’t stay here again. For the price $200 there are other, better hotels in the area. Also many nearby restaurants and coffee shops were closed over the weekend and a few homeless people wandering around outside. This hotel needs a facelift.

We were traveling on hurried schedule and were unable to book a hotel on the outskirts of town (it was Mother's Day weekend). We finally booked a room here in downtown St. Paul. Like any big city, there is a heightened awareness that the downtown area can be a little more dicey than in the suburbs, thus, this hotel was not our first choice. Parking was in an adjacent parking garage and we had to pay almost $25 for overnight parking. The room was comfortable, clean, and modern. The front desk clerk was helpful.

The hotel staff was so kind and helpful. Like other reviews have said, the hotel could use some updating. The bathroom had moldy caulk and rusty bathtub fixtures. The duvet on the bed was just between two sheets, it didn't really have a cover on it. The duvet either needed a washing or a new one might have been better. The location was great for what we needed it for, but it probably won't be my first choice when coming back to that area.

We stayed at the downtown doubletree for a family wedding. The price on the block was decent once you factor in the exorbitant cost of slightly discounted parking in the attached commercial garage ($22/night self park with in/out when purchased through the hotel). I appreciated the recognition as a honors diamond member and the upgrade from a standard king to a corner king room. Our room was clean and spacious. The staff in the restaurant were very pleasantly accommodating with our large group coming and going over several hours and managing different tabs.
No free breakfast/housekeeping on request/etc was all fairly standard for a post-2020 US hotel stay, so I’ve stopped marking down for it. The oddest thing about the room was the safe was locked by the hotel’s choice and we needed to call the desk to get a code to unlock it.
Last thing to note is that the elevators operated fine with none of the issues noted by reviews pre pandemic. The refurbishment project seems to have been successful.

I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Saint Paul with my family as I was attending a work event there. Overall, the location is great and the staff is friendly, but the hotel is in need of serious improvements in housekeeping and maintenance.
Pros: Location, friendly staff, and a restaurant.
Neutral (but worth noting): The parking garage is under the hotel and finding it is somewhat confusing. It costs $20 to park with come-and-go privileges, which is standard for the area.
Cons: The room we stayed in had mold in the bathroom, the AC did not work (it was hot and humid) and we found dirt and bugs in one of the beds. I woke up with red eyes and congestion from the poor HVAC and mold. There were urine stains on the back of the toilet. The elevators had food scraps and what appeared to be urine in them.
Unfortunately, we did not discover the bugs and dirt in the bed until the morning when my kiddo explained they were itchy. We found bug bites on her. I brought up the bugs at checkout and showed the representative some photos. They reassured me these were not bed bugs, and that the room shouldn't have looked that way. They offered us a complimentary breakfast which we did not take (we had a long drive home to then freeze all our luggage and sterilize everything). She explained that was all she could do for us as we'd used Priceline to book the room.
My main goal in reporting the issue was to ensure the staff was aware of it so they could properly deal with it. So I didn't push back on getting a refund or anything. I hope they weren't bed bugs and I hope they clean the room very well for the next guest. I have learned my lesson and always check the room first from now on.

I'm a Hilton Diamond member and spend over $20,000 with the company each year. While I enjoy many of their international properties, it's clear they're allowing their domestic brands to fall into neglect. The DoubleTree Saint Paul exemplifies this unfortunate trend. I've stayed here several times and each visit has been marked by some great confusion and disappointment.
It's an aging, poorly-maintained hotel. That's typical of domestic Hilton properties, especially in urban locations. However, even worse is the fact that staff aren't knowledgeable or helpful, particularly when it comes to issuance of Hilton Diamond Member credits. Diamond members are supposed to receive $15 per occupant per night (I had two rooms, four occupants, so, I was entitled to a $60 credit). That said, I've had to call and wrangle for my credits each of the last three times I've stayed here. The system is unnecessarily (perhaps purposefully?) complicated, and I dread seeing my bill each time because I know I will have to make follow-up calls and do all the legwork myself to receive this tiny "appreciation" for my business. This was this case this time too.
First of all, for the third consecutive stay they didn't apply the credit at all, and, as I had to do in the past, I called to inquire, and just like in the past, my inquiry was met with an inexplicably defensive tone. How dare I even ask? When asked why my bar/restaurant bill, which totaled about $40, wasn't credited (again, at all), the woman on the line told me we didn't 'code' it correctly when we put it on the rooms. What does this even mean?! This is YOUR system. Why do I need to know ANY of this? Anyway, she only allowed me to apply $30.
Now, anyone familiar with this credit system would agree that Hilton should completely ditch this terrible system and go back to the drawing board, but in the meantime, it isn't too much to ask that they train staff to apply the credits as advertised... without the wrangle. Isn't the whole idea to leave me feeling good about giving Hilton my business? That is almost never the case due to these predictable battles. I almost always leave wondering if I should just go ahead and call Marriott to see what they'll give me to switch brands. In this case though, unfortunately there are only two Hilton properties in downtown SP, so I'm kind of stuck. That said, I'll probably stay outside downtown next time.

No AC and night clerk (checked in at 1am due to late flight and 1hr wait at the airport to get rental car, so no choice but to stay the 1st night!) let it slip it’s been broken for over 2 months. Toilet leaking on the bathroom floor. We located a new room at the Embassy Suites, so blessed by the exceptional staff at the Embassy Suites! Day clerk, Steven, was rude and charged the nights stay with minimal discount for the horrible night we wound up having to stay. No call from the hotel manager for a full refund so this will be filed as a chargeback with the credit card company. There’s no excuse for not emailing customers to inform us the hotel AC is broken when it’s been down for months. This trip was booked in October last year! Never again! I would give this a -1 star if I could.

We are diamond members and has stayed at many Doubletree Hotels We can usually rely on them to be clean and have good amenities. If it weren’t for the name on this building, we’d find it hard to believe we were staying at a Doubletree. I chose this Hotel because it wasn’t too far away from regions hospital, where our child was having surgery the next day. We booked the hotel because it had an onsite restaurant. The neighborhood isn’t the safest, so we wanted to just check into the hotel and stay. We were disappointed to find out the restaurant was closed and their hotel market was the most poorly stocked one we’ve ever seen. Since we were there for a short time for medical needs, we were looking for comfort and simplicity. We booked the Congressional Suite and while the room appeared clean enough, the furniture was in very poor shape with stains and lots of wear and tear. There was also a lot of water damage all around the windows that caused some of the wallpaper to peel, making us wonder if there could be mold underneath. The lady who checked us in was very kind, but the hotel itself all around was a complete flop.

Selected this hotel for the brand and its proximity to the client I was visiting in Saint Paul.
As others have commented, the hotel has seen better days and in urgent need of renovation. The downstairs area around the lobby, restaurant and reception desk were fine. However the room was very tired and old fashioned. This was especially true of the bathroom whre the paint was chipped, parts were rusty and the shower curtain badly stained. The bed didn't have a normal duvet in a cover, rather a duvet (which was very grubby) between two sheets. There was no power around the bed to plug in chargers etc. For some reason they were still operating the covid process of having to request a house keeping service for the room (really - in October 2023).
The restaurant on the ground floor was acceptable, the bar well stocked and pizza tasty. However it was closed on the Sunday meaning I had to go elsewhere. I have never come across a hotel bar that closes on a Sunday before!
The gym was small but pretty well equiped with modern machines.
Whilst the staff were generally friendly and helpful having stayed in many Hiltons this was a bit of a disappointment and I will consider the options carefully before staying again.

They put a 600$ hold on my grandsons room and caused a negative impact on his card. The room was reserved and paid for by his mother. No one else in my immediate family including me had a hold on their credit card. It was disappointing

I walked from Monkey's Diner bear the Fitzgerald to the hotel, just before midnight with a 15, 13 and 20 year old. It is far less than a mile. I felt safe, but I did live on the south side of Chicago until I was 21.

The shuttle was not able to provide service to or from the airport which is a distance but they wouldn't even take us to the State Fair which is actually in St. Paul not as far. Not sure about any other areas. Never even saw a shuttle. That services was never offered.
There are more places to choose from in the Saint Paul area.
