I stayed here a couple years ago with my sister and always meant to write a review and never quite got around to it. This place is perfect - the sunken baths in the rooms are to die for. The pool was always nice and empty when we were there and the surrounding view is gorgeous. You couldn't ask for...

Normally, I'm an "activity junkie"--I like to cram lots of sightseeing and exploring into every day. As soon as I arrived at Castello Velona, I knew that I was going to have to revise my itinerary. The resort is set on a hill overlooking the stunning Tuscan countryside. Every side of the property has amazing views of the rolling hills...

Outstanding location with magnificent views. The staff is really friendly. A big thank you to Serena, Francesca, Fancesco (x2) and Maoro, who all contributed to a perfect honeymoon! Don't forget to try the swimming pool by night ! Great restaurant as well !

Castello di Velona is a wonderful "home base" for your exploration of Tuscany, particularly of the wine regions near Montalcino. It has exquisite views, friendly staff and a surprisingly good restaurant. Of course, as nice as it was, you'll want to spend as much time at the local vineyards as possible -- and the staff are very helpful in identifying...

It's hard to believe your eyes when you first see the view from the Castello di Velona. It is definitely one of the most beautiful, if not THE most beautiful, place I have ever stayed. There is a 360 degree view of Val d'Orce, and it doesn't disappoint. After that, the hotel was very nice. We stayed in a modern...

This hotel is a very unique property set high on a hill just a few km's from Montalcino. Expanded just a few short years ago it has under 50 rooms, tremendous spa and a great kitchen. Another great attribute --their wine is excellent. Take the wine tasting option and higher floors when making your reservation. Staff were excellent.

The view from Montalcino before you arrive (one of their profile pictures) is pretty much all you need to see and know about this resort. The rest is on par, or better. Their pictures are extremely accurate. The views are breath taking. The rooms are amazing, modern, yet rich and warm, the bathrooms are extravagant and magic, the rooms have...

My husband and I stayed at the Castello for two days...I wish we had more time to enjoy this gem in Toscana, Italy! From the service to the layout of the Castle - no detail was overlooked. The pool area is simply gorgeous. The web photos are true to life. No enhancement there. The views from the pool will take...

Driving along the road we saw the castle in the distance, absolutely breathtaking sitting on top of the mountain overlooking the vineyards. Upon arriving, it only got more beautiful. The grounds are decorated with beautiful rose bushes and the view around the entire castle is stunning. We were professionally and cheerfully greeted by Simone at the front desk, who was...

I can echo the comments in the last few 5* reviews. It is a very special place. It has the advantage of being quite small and away from the busier parts of Northern Tuscany which adds to a very special tranquility, helped by soft spa music being piped in all public places. The 360 degree views are simply amazing. Also...
