Visited the restaurant on a Sunday at 5.45pm. Very quiet and no atmosphere. Nobody in reception or at the bar to greet us. After a couple of minutes someone appeared who was the receptionist, bartender and waiter. He took our drinks order and hardly anything on the drinks menu

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. I can assure you that we are taking your feedback seriously and will investigate the points you have raised. In our hotel, there is never only one person on duty to cover all of the areas as you have mentioned, so I am unsure as to why you believed this to be the case. Kindest regards, Daniel Lawson daniel.lawson@hidarlingtonnorth.co.uk

Arrived about 17.40. Receptionist very warm, friendly, and helpful, couldn’t be better. Room was as expected (stayed in Holiday Inns before), but this room was to say the least “Chilly “. As we were going out for evening meal, turned air-conditioning on turned up the dial, and

Hello KeithG318, Thank you for leaving us your review and for making us a part your visit here in Darlington. We are grateful that you've chosen the Holiday Inn to host you. As always, we wanted nothing more but to ensure your experience turn as positive as possible. Though it made me smile that our staff has served you wonderfully and the room suitable enough, I'm sorry that it wasn't the same story all throughout. I regard your thoughts about the heating problems and the noise coming from the air conditioning unit. I understand that this left you with little sleep, KeithG318. I'm sorry that this stay didn't go as perfectly as planned, including the breakfast options. Don't worry, I took the necessary steps to ensure our management gets to read your post and be discussed amongst all concerned staff. We are always on the lookout for ways to make your experience memorable. Reviews such as this goes a long way in identifying areas where we can improve. We may not have gotten off the right foot but I'm positive to make it better for your next stay. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay with us. Best regards, Frank A. As a couple we stopped here after being caught out by the recent icy road conditions. Booked via central reservations. They offered membership of the hotel chain and by saying Yes we received an immediate room discount, plus breakfast thrown in. Pros: Room very clean. Whole

Was in nearby Middlesbrough on business and chose to stay here, it is certainly a nice modern HI. A nice greeting on reception and a very nice executive room. Dinner was adequate at best, I went for a Stilton and broccoli soup, which was very nice but only seemed like half bowl,

Hi, Thank you for your recent review. I'm very pleased that you received a nice greeting from the team and you found our hotel to be modern. It's disappointing to hear that your dining experience was underwhelming. We strive to give each and every one of our guests a great experience every time. I will pass on your comments to our Head Chef who will provide the feedback to her team so that they can improve where necessary. I do hope you give us the chance to show you that our hotel can exceed your expectations, like we do time and time again with many of our regular guests. We hope to see you again soon! Are there any decent restaurants nearby?(don't mind a short taxi ride)
I'm sorry I don't know, we ate in the hotel on both nights of our stay , it was easier as we had had very full days. The menu was not extensive but I have to say that I was surprised & pleased at the quality & service we received. It's well worth a try!
