This was our second visit to this beautiful house built in 1849. Innkeepers Penny and Jon are amazing hosts, ensuring our ultimate comfort. The house and our room was beautiful and spotless, very comfortable bed. The breakfasts by Chef Jon were once again, the best that we have ever had at a B&B. His signature dish, Scotch eggs, was fantastic....

After a long drive, Old Caledonia Bed & Breakfast was just what we needed. Jon welcomed us into his beautiful historic home. A warm blazing fire awaited our arrival. Jon is a professional chef and that showed in the delicious tea and homemade treats he presented to us. Even though we arrived after tea time, he spoiled us with the...

We were headed to the St. Louis area to visit family and decided to drive a couple of hours south to check out what Jon and Penny have been up to since they left Colorado. We stayed in the big and well-appointed Heather room with bathroom en suite and a view to the garden and koi pond. The style is...

The Old Caledonian B&B is a 1849 home on National Register of Historic Places, per the plaque on the wall. It's located on Main Street, an easy walk to the Old Village Mercantile (don't miss it!), and other shops. The Old Caledonian is an absolutely stunning and very photogenic property, inside and out. The home is a classic two story...

My husband and I wanted a quick getaway to check-out the Johnson Shut-ins that I've heard so much about. If at all possible, I try to stay in a B&B when visiting small towns because of the personal service and the character of the homes that are still standing in small towns. The Old Caledonian was just that. Perfect in...

Jon & Penny are such gracious hosts. While out touring the quaint Missouri countryside we decided to stay overnight in Caledonia, MO. We were made to feel welcomed right from the beginning. The Old Caledonian is a wonderfully spacious historic home but cozy & comfortable, too. And the breakfast...absolutely delicious! Jon & Penny are experienced Innkeepers, but they are certainly...

My wife and I booked this at the last minute for a quick get-away. We were familiar with the town of Caledonia and the Arcadia valley which has much to offer. We were immediately pleased with the lovely mid-nineteenth century home, furnishings and grounds. The best part of the visit was meeting Jon and Penny who are very pleasant, interesting...

Absolutely beautiful, welcoming, relaxing and a hidden gem. The also serve the best gourmet breakfast you could ever imagine! They have the best and most unusual food we have ever had at any B&B we have ever stayed at. You can't go wrong!

This B&B is so beautiful, relaxing and luxurious! The rooms are beautifully furnished, with the ultimate in comfort! I unwound my stress by soaking in an old-fashioned claw foot bathtub, then relaxing in a cloud of a bed and getting the best sleep I've had in weeks! The breakfast was so delicious, and the host and hostess made me feel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Old Caledonian Bed & Breakfast! We are located a short and scenic 80 minute drive south of St. Louis in the quaint village of Caledonia, nestled in the beautiful Bellevue Valley of southeast Missouri. The Old Caledonian Bed & Breakfast resides in the grand Ruggles-Evans-Dent House, listed on the United States Register of Historic Places, which was built in 1849 on four grass and wood-lined acres right on the main street of Caledonia. Our spacious house and beautiful guest rooms offer vintage luxury and the comfort of triple sheeted bedding and ensuite baths. Our four-acres of grounds offer many options for peace and quiet, relaxation, weddings, activities and events. Our bountiful breakfasts are prepared by a trained, experienced chef using locally sourced ingredients. We hand-crank sausages in our own kitchen, and our bacons and hams are often cured and smoked in-house! Our delightful afternoon teas celebrate Caledonia’s founders’ Scottish heritage. Caledonia’s restaurants and wine shop are are right across the street or just a few minutes drive away. The Village of Caledonia’s famous Old Village Mercantile, antique shops and craft stores share our block! The Village Big Barn reception/event hall is just on the other side of our property. Elephant Rocks State Park, Johnson Shut-ins, Dillard Mill, Mark Twain National Forest, Washington County State Park and Hughes Mountain State Natural Area are all nearby the Old Caledonian Bed & Breakfast. Our area also features many vineyards and wineries; as well as fun-filled float trip services. History surrounds the village, and we are centrally located near historic landmarks, towns and a Civil War battlefield which make our area a favorite of enthusiasts from all over the USA. We look forward to having you as our guest at the Old Caledonian Bed & Breakfast! ... more   less
