Bettina made us feel very welcome and was a very gracious host! A Mare is in a great location with a beautiful view, clean rooms, and friendly people! We stayed in Room 6 (which had a very comfortable loft bed) and Apartment B (which had a private balcony, a fully functional kitchen and spacious living room). I would definitely recommend... More

This is on the road into town but a two minute walk from the center. The outdoor spaces are terrific with comfortable furniture. Our room was small, but cheerful, and it's clear the staff cares about it being pleasant. There are cups, plates, a corkscrew, a tea pot in the room. We had a very small patio with a nice... More

I stayed at A Mare for 3 nights with a friend, it was the perfect start of our roadtrip in Portugal. Salema is a nice and calm village, in a perfect position for visiting all the coast from Sagres to Lagos. Our room at A Mare was very clean and spacious with a nice terrace and view. The breakfast was... More

We booked our room directly with Bettina, confirming our reservation by phone. She is very personable and easy to deal with, and sent good information for arrival, etc. We arrived by public bus and the pension is directly above, very easy as long as you are okay with the stairs. We stayed in room #3 which was perfectly situated. It... More

Stayed in view room #3, two single comfortable beds, clean, patio with table/chairs, no TV, excellent WF, lighting a little low. Light breakfast healthy choices, fruit, cheese, cereals, rolls, nothing hot. Close to beach, bus, restaurants, parking 1/2 block. Owner wonderful, helpful. Loved our 3 night stay.

Good location, but Salema is so small there are no bad locations. Parking (free) will have to be anywhere from 50 yards to a couple hundred yards from hotel. It is not really possible to even stop temporally in front of the hotel to unload. While all this is inconvenient, it is easily doable even by a couple older seniors... More

We got to Salem "by accident" and the small, nice town made us think about staying a night. From the beach we saw this perfectly located small B&B and checked it on TA. They had a room and we were immediately taken by the friendly welcome. We could see all the rooms and all had their charme. We took a... More

We reserved Apartment B for a long weekend. Bettina was very helpful and the accommodation was everything we expected. It was spotlessly clean and had a beautiful view of the town and the ocean from the terrace. It was very private and the quiet slow pace of Salema was just what we were looking for. Our visit in February was... More

This was a great value: Our room (#2) had twin comfortable beds - a second ante-room had self serve coffee/tea options and a refrigerator with glass ware, cutting board and a knife. It was fresh and clean --- slept with windows open to hear the surf. Breakfast had more options than most, with freshly squeezed oranges, meats, cheeses, various breads,... More
