Detailed Reviews
Staying at the Villa Amor was such a treat! It is located at the edge of the bay up on a hill with a gorgeous view even though you are only steps from the where the action is on the beach and town. We stayed for 5 nights in “Serena” which was a one bedroom with an open air fully stocked kitchen, seating area and deck. The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious. There is no need to rent a car, everything is right there. There are a couple of rooms on street level which I would not recommend. The only downside to our stay were the coatimundi (little raccoon like animals) raiding your kitchen in search of food, you had to lock up all your food behind closed doors of the bedroom. It would be nice if the kitchen had cabinets with doors you could lock. We emptied out a couple of drawers in the bedroom and stored our food in there. And you must lock up your fridge as well. Also, you could only leave the windows opened a crack so they wouldn’t come in. They visited us every night usually knocking over the garbage can.
The restaurant on the property is quite lovely but more expensive than the restaurants on the beach which were very good. The fresh fish is amazing!

Hello to juliebF7254BH: We wish thank you for staying with us at Villa Amor. Villa Serena is truely a beautiful place to stay: the views are fantastic and being so close to town and beach makes your stay seamless for all activities. Yes, we are in a jungle environment. The coatimundis do like fruit and other good things to eat and it looks like you followed our suggestions to keep your food locked up. Some of our villas with open air kitchens do get visited in the early hours of the morning. When you return, you can request a villa with a closed-in kitchen. The restaurant works under an independent contractor and we will share your comments. Taken together, the restaurants of Sayulita are fantastic and are a wealth of fresh fish, vegetables, and fruit. We all hope to see you on your return.

We made a day trip to Sayulita from PV and within an hour we knew we didn't want to leave and asked a random person on the beach which hotel was the best in Sayulita - they said "Villa Amor". We gave them a call right then and they offered to show us what they had available. We were shown the "Corazon" room and it was just magical - even from the outside of the door (imagine something you'd see in a castle). After about a week, we extended our trip by two days and were moved to the "Mar y Sol" room, which was so very different but still amazing.
If you are looking for a resort, this is not the place for you. This is the epitome of a boutique hotel and the charm is EVERYWHERE. So many little details and knick knacks (in the best way) throughout the rooms and hotel. It was so traditional and still so homey, and the views couldn't be beat. The Corazon room was mostly open air, so we enjoyed watching the geckos make their way in at night to eat the bugs, and then waking up early to watch the sunrise from the open living space. While it did get HOT during the day, the night was so pleasent. We ended up back at our room relatively early each night because it was just so comfortable and relaxing. The staff was also phenomenal and the rooms themselves were very secure (locked gated entry after 8pm, but you are provided to code to come and go as you please).
We will absolutely be back and will bring our friends and family so that they, too, can experience this wonderous place (Sayulita and Villa Amor). In fact, after cancelling 2 weddings in 2020 because of COVID, I've been reenergized by the beauty of this hotel and am considering making this our "I Do" location!

Dear jennakw08: You found the perfect word for Villa Amor: Magical. How wonderful you found us on your day trip to Sayulita. Most of our villas have sea and beach views with magnificent views of the sunrise. We are glad your stay gave you an opportunity to be at home in both Villa Corazon and Villa Mar y Sol. During our "winter" season, from December to May, days are not as hot as you found them in November. Our staff is truely the best in town and will welcome you back for a most wonderful wedding.. We love weddings at Villa Amor and hope that 2021 is your "I do"year. Everyone at Villa Amor is looking forward to hosting your guests for a very special day full of love and family.

I stayed in the Vista Verde suite in Villa Amor for 2 weeks in June and it was literally the most magical place to stay. A huge king bed and 4 big folding glass/wood doors that swung open to a majestic deck with bamboo railings. When I woke up every morning I turned on the coffee maker, swung open those doors and the sounds of birds and fresh ocean air washed over me. The bathroom was pretty awesome and had a walk-in shower and windows behind the 2 sinks opened wide to make you feel like you were brushing your teeth on mountain tops of green!
Sayulita is a magical place but it would not have been the same if I didn't have the paradise of my little queendom suite to retreat to. I poked my head into a few of the other suites and none of them compared. Make sure to get the Vista Verde suite, the best place in Villa Amor!!
PS-my only issue with it was that the lighting in the bathroom wasn't that great and it was hard to apply mascara or put on makeup....although I was thankful for this and ended up not wearing makeup the entire time!! Secret blessing in disguise!

We stayed at Villa Amor for what was supposed to be our wedding weekend. We canceled our wedding but we ended up going anyway. Villa Amor is such a lovely place to stay at. The villas are just so gorgeous and all different themed, very unique. We stayed at Villa Pacifico, closer to the gate entrance. I wish I could have stayed longer. It was so clean, had everything we needed in a home, we like to cook so we make sure everything necessary is provided. Two bedroom, 3 full bathrooms, opened living room space and doors that open to the terrace, where there is a pool and a gorgeous panoramic view of Sayulita, what more do you want? There is AC in both rooms. We are definitely coming back. The service was also impeccable. Although we didn’t get extended time for checkout, it was still wirth every penny. All the staff is very welcoming, from the cleaning crew to the staff in the office. The resort is so well maintained. We were very satisfied with our stay. ❤️

Dear Clarivel R: We are delighted that you were able to stay with us in spite of having had to cancel a wedding. Indeed, Villa Pacifico is one of our favorite villas. It has everything one would wish for, including that fabulous view of Sayulita. Sometimes there are reasons for not being able to extend time for checkout, as our staff does need adequate time for preparation of incoming guests. In this time of heightened health concerns, it is important for everyone's safety. We will be sure to share your kind comments with our wonderful staff. We look forward to your return. Best wishes for your new life together.

We planned a last minute trip to check out Sayulita for the first time in March, and managed to book at Vista Verde to our delight. This studio was perfect for us, with a spacious bathroom, bedroom, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave set up, plenty of fresh drinking water in the room, and a great balcony with lounge chairs and table/chairs for enjoying coffee and fresh homemade banana bread in the AM (find the local selling it on the street below each day!). Our room was cleaned up each day and left it as perfect as the day we arrived. We loved that we could go downstairs to Si Senior, the local restaurant and bar, to grab a quick beverage and snack anytime. The super friendly staff at Si Senior took the Durado we caught and made us a special dinner one night right on the cliff. It was an amazing experience.

I have stayed at the Villa Amor property every early winter for the past 9 years, but will no longer be going to Sayulita. The town has changed for the worse. Loud, bumping music is played from sunset to sunrise every single night and it is impossible to sleep. Sayulita used to be quiet, and the traditional culture was respected. But those days ( and nights ) are long gone. There are too many pristine beach communities in Mexico to enjoy...AVOID Sayulita!

Dear stevetC5903EZ: Thank you for your comments concerning your recent stay in Sayulita. The town has certainly become popular. Villa Amor is south of the main part of the village and has less noise than other locations. We now provide ear plugs for guests that find the celebrations in town disturbing to their sleep. With this in mind, we look forward to your return. Right now, the only “noise” we can hear is the soothing rhythm of the surf.

What a stunning place. Every unit is different, very different. I’ve never been to a Hotel where there’s so much variety in choices. We have the unit with the awesome view, so many of them have awesome views with this had the awesome deck and the cover photo. The staff is amazing, completely helped with luggage. I’m not sure why but I noticed it’s five to $10 more to get a cab from that location rather than going to the main Square. It was even cheaper going to the main Square and getting a cab driver to drive us back to the hotel to pick up our bags on the way out —- 900 pesos versus 1000 pesos we were quoted. That said, the staff is awesome!!!!!! We only experienced loud music Monday night, our first night of a 4-night stay. They do provide earplugs, although they’re in the night the greatest and you can pick up better ones in the pharmacy. I prefer the ones they call swimming earplugs, they’re big wax balls that cover your entire ear.

Came here with the family and had an amazing stay. The room was big and comfortable and the staff was great. The pool is nice, but with the beach right out front with bath warm water, it’s a no brained to hang on the sand.
Location is right outside of the main downtown, so
You get some quiet, with a short golf cart ride or walk into town.
They were very helpful in booking golf cart for the duration of the stay and airport transportation.
Only complaint is that my wife and I took advantage of the massage special they have. We were accidentally charged full price. We told the hotel and they immediately started looking into it and contacting the massage place. We showed them the receipt with the charge and they took a photo and said they’d get a refund for the over charge issued, but we never got it. I tried calling, but the number didn’t work and I sent follow up email and never heard back. A bummer, but would still come back without question. Maybe would just skip the massage this time around.
Overall very worth it!

Villa Amor is a spectacular place to stay, and once you are there, the service is excellent. It is absolutely an unforgettable experience in a spectacular location. I highly recommend.
I do have a couple of complaints. Firstly, the reservation process is very dated (a lot paperwork, instead of a seamless online booking platform). I came with multiple people staying in different guests. My friend requested a villa change, a few months prior to our arrival, to a smaller villa because a guest she was going to stay with dropped out; Villa Amor originally said no and did not respond to her email requests after that, but then once we arrived it turns out they DID decide to give my friend the smaller villa, but charged her for the larger villa and refused to reimburse! Another person I came with was very excited about the villa she booked but when she arrived they said that villa was no longer available and she had to stay in a different villa. This is totally unacceptable and Villa Amor should have communicated that to her much earlier (turns out the original Villa was under construction and Villa Amor obviously knew this way before we arrived).
Villa Amor can definitely work on their communication with guests and making the process smoother for guests. However, once you get past that and get to your villa, everything is spectacular, including the service once you're there. Shout out to Jessie, one of the Villa Amor staff, who was so helpful and kind! We will definitely be back.

Hello to Ecornada: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate your comments and are taking time to correct the issues that you found. Yes, our reservation system is from the past . Now that we have a new administration and office staff, we are currently revising our website and internet ability to make and reserve villas on the Internet. We aim for that seamless online booking that you referenced. One of our newer office mates did make that mistake on villa booking, and we apologized for the error. Your costs were reimbursed. We appreciate your kind words about our on-site service and location. Your recommendation is also appreciated. Your visit caught us in a major management transition that includes monitoring noise regulations. On your return you will find higher standards in place for the reservation process, our policies and accounting. Hasta pronto!

Villa Amor was a awesome experience. My fiancé has travelled many places and so have I and we really had the best time. He said said one of his best trips ever. Reception was very friendly and sincere. Ivan from the Bar and the rest of the whole team at Si Senior was amazing. Didn’t realize we didn’t say goodbye properly so we decided we just have to come back! The house keeping was awesome and Elizebeth and her team added extra touches that really made us feel at home. We asked about golf cart and they had a local company deliver and pick up for us. Even staff charged it over night without us asking. Surf, paddle, body boards available,Top Notch. We’d love one day to make this one of our second homes no doubt. Only complaint is we didn’t get to stay longer. I personally been at hostels and Luxury hotels throughout the years and none of it matters if the staff don’t care. Speaks volumes of a place when everyone is gracious and genuine. Nothings perfect but we had a Beautiful time before we both have to get back to our busy winter work life. This is long but they are awesome. Close walk to town , even closer if you cut through the beach. Remember flash rain comes during this season so be prepared for hunkering for 30
Mins to a hour in a bar and watching the storm pass in the evenings. Cheers Villa Amor until we meet again 🍹🧉🍻

We welcome service animals with the proper documents. If this is not what you are looking for, please contact our front desk at (329) 291-3010. They will be happy to assist you to find a pet friendly hotel to fit your needs.
Hi Larkstone00, We got married and had our reception at the Gran Villa (the top of the property) in May 2017! There is no railing so you'll want to keep a close eye on the kiddos to be sure they don't get too close to the edge, however its a large space so in theory the edge can be easily avoided.
In terms of the which villas to stay in, I recommend reaching out to Villa Amor reception. Everyone is incredibly nice and they know every villa and can give you a better recommendation. Also check out their website, they have many photos and floor plans for most rooms which will help guide you. You can also see a map of the property under the About tab so you can see where the villa is located (i.e. if you'd rather be at beach level you can narrow your search to those villas).
Hope this helps! Enjoy your stay and congrats to the bride & groom!
