staying at casa amelia was a bit of an adjustment at first for me as it was a bit more rustic than i had expected - i guess i had not realized that i had booked myself into a hostel but fortunately i had reserved the nicest room in the house , the private double with en suite bathroom which...

Perfect place to stay, as per other reviews. The owner Paul is super friendly, helpful and surfs. Clear directions on how to get any sites around town. We wanted to surf Chicama and he knew the exact conditions when it works. Set us up with surfboards, wetsuits, instructions for public transport, where to stay. All on the cheap and we...

I stayed at case Amelia for more than two months while working in Trujillo, and it really is the jackpot of hostals (if you're not looking for a classic party hostal). It is noticeable that Paul puts all his love into it, he tries to make everybody's stay as comfortable as he can and is always open to help with...

Love this place! Such a friendly welcome and stay. There is a really nice community atmosphere at this hostel. Clean and well built. Awesome common areas to hang out and chat with others or have some quiet time on your own. Lots of character - in a good way. Not your typical hostel. But book early. We could only stay...

While the town of Huanchaco is pretty small with little to do for those not a surf hunt, anyone can fully enjoy the beach vibes of CASA Amelia with alpalca-ish bunnies, a turtle, cats, and a parrot in the private, well secured garden pad with several perfectly positioned hammocks. Paul is a great host, and the wifi is speedy. There...

Even though we arrived here before the sun had even rose (at 5am) I had fallen in love with the place! Our beds were even ready for us to have a quick nap in too which was nice. Affordable, beach front hostel with hammocks, terraces, lush green grass that feels so good on your bare feet, bunnies, a parrot (not...

I'm now at the end of my6 week stay in Peru, and have stayed in many great accommodations but Casa Amelia was the best of them all. The house is very quaint and a beautiful building and the outside space has lots of great chill out areas - super for watching sunsets!! The location is excellent, right across the road...

I stayed 2 months. Some nights in the three bed dorm, the 6 bed dorm, and one of the private rooms. Every location was very comfortable. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy. Paul does everything on the honor system. It's easy to trust and rely on him when he puts so much trust in you. A true testament to...

I cannot speak highly enough of Casa Amelia. I happened to show up there on a whim planning to stay 3 days and I ended up staying for over a month. Paul the owner has thought of everything. From the recent addition of an outdoor kitchen to a filter for drinking water. This hostel has all of the subtle conveniences...

This is a long overdue review. Wonderful place, great atmosphere, felt like a home away from home. The manager Paul was so lovely, i left my hiking shoes on the lawn and he rode to the nearest city to post them to me! Thanks so much!! Absolutely no negatives. Would highly recommend. Great atmosphere, location and friendly, relaxing vibes. Stayed...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Amelia is a gem of a place, truly unlike anything else in Huanchaco. The extraordinary building is made in bungalow-style with grass roof. It has a beautiful garden where hummingbirds fly around all day. Two roof terraces with chairs and hammocks overlook the sea. Rooms are big, with sea view, very romantic, comfortable and clean. The guest kitchen has everything imaginable to cook your own meals. It's a great place to rest for a while and really feel at home. The location is unbeatable, just where the noise ends. The kitchen includes a super cozy indoor common area with an internet connected tv and guest computer. We have two cute bunnies, a cat and a parrot that walk around and happily receive your love. The hostel is small so you only share everything with a small selection of other guests. We guarantee a great WiFi signal. On top of that we have a huge book exchange, laundry service and will help you with anything you like to undertake in Huanchaco or the region. We know everything about surfing and will assist you to find your material and/or surf lessons. We have an outside shower, place for wetsuits and board rack. From our roof terrace you can check the waves of all 3 surf breaks of Huanchaco. Be very very welcome and we hope you stay for a while! ... more   less

“There are only three rooms and all are excellent! We stayed in the middle room for the 1st and 2nd nights, and then in the room with 3 twin beds (two on a lower floor, one above) for the 3rd night. The room with twin beds has a bathroom outside the room, but it's spotless and no one else really uses the bathroom.”
