We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our trip in Sri Lanka. We initially booked it as it was near Mirissa but quickly realised it’s in a much better location as it’s near less touristy beaches and a few great bars, cafes and yoga places. The staff here are really friendly and accommodating. The food is yummy. We were in an upstairs room which had great views of the ocean. The rooms were good with quiet air con and really comfy beds. The villa is a great base for checking out the smaller beaches along the coast like Polhena were we saw giant turtles and small manta rays when we were snorkelling. It’s also a quick ride to Mirissa and Weligama.

This doesn't feel like a hotel, it's more like a private beach home with attentive but discreet staff. Well though through architecture and perfectly maintained. Set in beautiful surroundings and limited to five rooms you always feel like you have your own bit of paradise.

Villa Océane occupies a beautiful seafront location with welcoming and friendly staff. We spent three nights at this beautiful and sparking clean villa, waking each morning to a glorious sunrise, the sounds of waves lapping the shore and the most spectacular of views. The bed was very comfortable and the Wi-Fi was excellent. The huge veranda is the perfect place to relax and unwind whilst watching surfers and spotting turtles in the water. The team are truly outstanding. They go above and beyond to make sure every stay is perfect. The food was exceptional and any special requests are happily accommodated. We were treated to freshly caught fish and seafood during our stay. The staff go to the market daily and everything is unbelievably fresh. I celebrated my birthday during our stay and the team organised birthday celebrations and a delicious birthday cake, such a wonderful gesture. If you are visiting Sri Lanka, Villa Océane should be the choice for you.

We were in Matara 3 years ago and came across Villa Oceane walking along the beach. I knew one day we would come and stay here - what a perfect place to stay! Sea view all around, a perfect spot if you like to surf and turtles swimming in the waves right in front of the villa. The best part of the stay are the staff. I come from a hospitality background and the small touches here make it top class. Staff appear the second you need them, yet disappear when you want privacy. It’s a truly well oiled and seamless operation. Staff are happy and willing to do anything to make your stay extremely comfortable. We celebrated my husbands 40th birthday; the staff arranged a cake and setup with candles & coffee with staff singing. Breakfast is a lovely spread. Beds are very comfortable. No road noise behind, very peaceful and only sound of crashing waves. Lots Fo restaurants and cafes in walking distance. A truly memorable stay and we will be back soon! Keep up the great service.

A really memorable stay for me. The villa is just so peaceful and well maintained. Staff are courteous and they take care of you really well. The food is great and the rooms are amazing. The bathrooms also very clean. (Had a leaking bidet in my bathroom though which should be fixed soon) The view from the room and the closeness to the sea is something you cannot imagine, it’s like your living on the sea. We moved to a big hotel post staying at this place and just did not enjoy the hotel as much, because we were missing staying at this villa as much! Book this villa for the maximum days instead of moving around hotels, all the nearby places(Weligama, Mirissa, Ahangama, Hikkaduwa) you can travel and come back within a day considering the proximity. Met the owner too, who is a gem of a person. Hope to come back soon

What an amazing place to stay! There are only a handful of rooms and the service is fantastic! I recommend getting the half board and they will serve you your meals on your balcony outside your room, overlooking the beautiful view! How special! And the food was fantastic too! This is the perfect place if you want a quiet break away. You can laze on loungers on the lawn and probably have the pool to yourself. The beach is not good for swimming but you can get a tuktuk to the better part of the beach to swim if you prefer. We loved this place and would totally recommend it! Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip.

We enjoyed 2 nights here. The rooms all look out onto the ocean and you can hear the crashing waves from your room. Great place to surf or watch the surfers. Enjoyed their mixed fish platter. Only 5 rooms so very personal service. I would recommend staying here especially if you like to surf.

We had the most fabulous stay at Villa Océane in Mirissa, so much we extended our stay! The villa and room were beautiful, so peaceful with the view and sound of the sea. But above all the team was so amazing, so attentive and kind, and we were always welcomed with big smiles! They organised everything for us: a whale watching tour, day out in Galle, transfer to the airport etc. and always made sure had everything we needed. I wished we could have stayed longer, I couldn't have dreamed of a better place to end our travels in Sri Lanka. The delicious breakfast was served on the balcony in front of our room with view of the sea, a real treat! It's also ideally located away from the hustle and bustle, but only a few minutes walk away from nice cafés and the Dr's House and Polhena beach, and a 5min tuk tuk ride to Mirissa beach. You can also watch the turtles poking their heads out for air on the beach in front of the hotel, as well as the surfers, and beautiful sunsets. Thank you so much for the amazing stay!

We arrived after travelling around Sri Lanka, tired and feeling unwell recovering from a tummy bug. The staff immediately started to take care of us ensuring all our needs were met. Their conscientious and caring approach made our stay feel very personal, almost like having butler service. We had all our meals freshly prepared to our own personal satisfaction served on a table on the patio of our terrace.
The room and pool were lovely and the view of the sea a short distance in front of us. Every day we sat watching turtles feeding at high tide and the surfers performing tricks, our daily entertainment.
nearby there were a few nice bars and restaurants if you fancied a change. The area felt safe to explore and there were Tuk-tuks nearby if your needed.

Ocean views from the room. Great food and service. Lovely pool. Very close to Mirissa - a small town with nice beaches and restaurants on the beach. We also saw baby turtles on the beach! Whale watching close by too - we saw Blue Whales! Amazing stay.
They don’t have an alcohol licence but that is not a problem as there is a shop nearby that you can buy some from and hotel are happy for you to drink whatever you purchase with your meal.

The period of whale watching is ending up in the first week of May. If you are planing to visit Sri Lanka in May for whale watching it’s advisable for you to come in end April or 1st week of May.
There are more places to choose from in the Kamburugamuwa area.
