We booked our cabin at Roche Lake via air bnb as was cheaper. The photos and description are def not what it suggests however we had the absolute best time. As the cabins are privately owned some are in need of major maintenance and decor is definitely old. It is what it is and that is a cabin fishing holiday, clean enough but peaceful. A 10k gravel road to get there but driveable ok. We hired a boat which was wonderful to tour lake or fish if you wish. We didn’t fish but took a picnic and sat out in middle of lake to take in the ambience as the weather was warm. The staff were very helpful and made us feel welcome. There is a convenience store, a bar, food as well. We chose here to have the relaxed local experience and it was perfect.

The lake its self is a great place, good fishing, close to town, and has amenities.

however the first problem is the road to get up there, its not maintained very well, worst washboard I have ever seen, could use grading couple times a year. I asked the staff to call Highways, [government responsibility] but all I got was excuses. I live in the area so I called highways and sure enough within a week they had graded the road, though it needed it more often.

Second problem is the management and staff attention to detail, they do their job, but not much more, not a lot of attention to detail.

cabins are not to bad inside, quite dated, [which is not a problem] but the windows were very very dirty, and the decks were rotting in many places and covered in bird poop, other than that, the cabins were well taken care of.

amenities include a restaurant with burgers n fried basics, a pub that's usually quiet, nice get away from the kids. it also has a small pool which is nice in the summer.

the last thing is the rules are no dogs off leash, and the staff are very strict, any infraction of their bylaws is swiftly policed, which makes it not very relaxing sometimes.

I feel its a mistake to not allow dogs off leash as long as they are not a nuisance- the world has no freedom left- dogs need to run.

I would not stay here if I still had my dog- not fair to them.

Over all its close, its convenient and its a great lake with some amenities, good experience for the family.

We rented two chalets at this resort for a family reunion. Ours, 14A, was in a pretty tired state. It could definitely use a thorough cleaning and a complete remodel - especially the bathroom. Basically, this was the next step up from camping.

The setting is idyllic and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

The beds were saggy and the pillows were hard. But we had some wonderful time together as a family.

I had a bad experience at your resort yesterday. My wife and I were in the Roche lake area, and we decided to drive into the resort area to inquire about boat rentals. We approached the open gate and there was a young man standing at the gate. We thought he was an employee because he was standing there at the open gate. We asked if we could come into the resort to inquire about a boat rental and he said "sure go on in" We drove to the office and it was closed an locked at the upper level, so I went below where the boats were to see if there was a boat rental office, and it too was all closed. I was about to leave, and I heard a 4-wheeler come speeding around the building towards me. The male driver skidded to a stop in front of me. I approached him to ask him where I could find the office for a boat rental and he abruptly asked how I got into the resort, to which I replied through the open gate. He asked 'didn't I see the signs saying the resort was closed", to which I replied "I did not". I asked who he was, because he had no marks on his clothing to indicate who he was or if he was even related to the resort. He advised me that "he runs the place". He was very rude and abrupt and really didn't want to talk to me at all when I said we were just looking into renting a boat. I put my hand up when he was talking to me and left. I could not believe a person in the hospitality industry could act so inappropriately towards an inquiry. The resort was not closed and there were other people in the resort so perhaps we made a mistake by entering but with the details outlined above it was an honest mistake but this man who runs the place, wasn't interested in providing any sort of explanation or friendly response to me. I was very disappointed in this individual, and I will never go back there again, and I will be telling others about my experience.

Cabin poor condition including doors without working locks and sliding door installed inside out and shabby interior. Made concerns known to office who kept promising to fix locks but never did. Their excuse was that each is independently owned and not their problem. I noted that they shouldnt allow in rental pool if substandard. Restaraunt has also been closed last cpl years. Overall not worth value but fishing good.

This place is so quiet you will find it so relaxing. Packages include a chalet plus fishing boat rental. There is a swimming pool, excellent fishing and a restaurant on site if you don't feel like cooking. And they will even cook the fish you catch. If you prefer there are also campsites available. We saw deer watch by daily and a mom and her twin newborn fawns. Truely a beautiful retreat

We do a lot of camping at Recreation sites, but for our anniversary we wanted to go to Roche Lake Resort so we could enjoy the swimming pool and the flush toilets and showers. When we got there the campsite was clean and spacious. But the pool was green on the bottom with algae, couldn’t smell any chlorine in it. The bathrooms hadn’t been cleaned, no soap in dispenser in one bathroom and the paper towel dispensers didn’t work in either one. The floor and toilets were dirty. We were there for 3 nights and pool and bathrooms were never cleaned. Summer of 2018 the pool was crystal clear and bathrooms were cleaned every morning. Not this summer. On checkout I told them my concerns and how it had downhill since last year. There was a lot of excuses, but I insisted that bathroom cleanliness was very important. They ended up giving me a 50% discount for our stay. I just hope they improve on their cleanliness, because we used to enjoy going there with our friends.

Myself and my brother were responsible for arranging a "family reunion" in August during the bad smoke etc. from the wild fires last summer. The place was very nice for this kind of get together but the owners are a couple of greedy, unrelenting, ignorant people I would never want to deal with again. They had a policy that everyone had to spend 3 nights at this resort which is okay but I myself told them at the beginning that I was unable to do that and they would not be reasonable about this at all, even though I had brought them about 40 people to stay at their resort for the 3 days and many of them stayed longer. Once couple stayed a week.....this made no difference to them and insisted that I pay for the 3rd night even though I didn't stay there....and to make matters worse they debited my credit card with a charge of $225.00 approximately for the extra night when they had already taken a payment of $230.00 approx for the lst 2 nights several months prior. I tried to reason with them without any give. They were obstinate about it so I agreed but asked them to explain this extra charge as some of it was not correct. There were 3 of us staying in the 2bdrn cabin not 5. They charged us for 5 ...and refused to explain any of this charge. I emailed them about it and received no answer. I would never step foot on their resort again and no further family reunions will be held there as we have them every 2 years,. Had they had the decency to be a little more flexible but they were not and they refused to explain the charges so there will be no future reunions booked with this resort. I have never dealt with such ignorant people in my life and I ran businesses for over 30 years and I know you have to be flexible in business. What really irritates me is that they would not have had much business at their resort at that time if not for our group and with the wild fires people were canceling bookings all over but I personally called my group and assured them to go ahead with the reunion anyway. so I saved them from having the entire thing cancelled a month previously. Our group also dined at their overpriced restaurant as well and that was not appreciated either....but the worst of it is that our group made up most of the people at the resort. There were many cabins unoccupied so these 2 fellows sure did not appreciate our group being there or they would have been more flexible with the 3 night policy and would have at least explained the charge they put on my credit card. I am also putting a complaint into the Better Business Bureau.
