Wow! I had the EXACT same experience! We, too, had been promised a microwave & fridge (medically necessary as we had to bring my son's food in a cooler from 6hrs+ away). Neither were present & the only way to get them was to "upgrade" (to the room we'd already booked). I spoke with the man at front desk in person & via phone (we had a meet we had to be at less than an hr after arrival) before speaking to the corporate office & being sent to a consumer relations specialist where I was put on hold for nearly 30min before finally hanging up & calling the (wonderful!) folks at the Holiday Inn. I explained to the man working the front desk on Sat 2/14/15 and explained that if he couldn't follow through on his promise to provide the "standard" amenities promised I would vacate the room as soon as our function was over. I did return to the room (approx. 4.5hrs after checking in) & turned in my keys to the man with too much cologne. He simply said "ok" & sent me on my way. I asked for a receipt which he begrudgingly provided and glanced at it to make sure I didn't have a balance due (at check-in, I had told him not to charge my debit card as I'd be paying in cash). A couple days later I noticed $148.43 charge to my bank. I don't think it wou'ld've been too much for the man behind the desk to have notified me that he'd be charging me for TWO nights of which I stayed NONE!!
I'll never stay at a Microtel again! I will always search out a Holiday Inn affiliate in the future!

We stayed in the Microtel in Bozeman for one night in Sept. 2014, Memory is that there was a refrig in the room. We didn't request one, so didn't use it. The staff who greeted us the evening of our arrival was very helpful... More
We stayed in the Microtel in Bozeman for one night in Sept. 2014, Memory is that there was a refrig in the room. We didn't request one, so didn't use it. The staff who greeted us the evening of our arrival was very helpful and friendly. Checking out the next morning was handled efficiently. From our experience, we would stay there again if ever in the area.
