We stayed two weeks in the U.S. and this was the least liked of the accommodations we had. I was wary when booking due to some poor reviews, but it was the only accommodation left. We stayed for two nights in a room that was very tired. There were so many things broken that I actually listed them on a...

The Lodge had a character all its own, like it had been there for a while. Our room was clean, well decorated, with some very interesting furniture. Good bed, good towels, we had a comfortable night's sleep. We weren't too impressed with the restaurant, OK, but nothing really special. No coffee service in the room, but there was coffee in...

We did not stay at this hotel, but had 5 meals here. They have a very good breakfast and dinner. We had the same thing for breakfast, 3 days. The kids plate. One egg, bacon, and a pancake. Very good. Two nights we shared the chicken fried steak. It came with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a cup of soup. Very...

Stayed for one night on our way into Yellowstone. Ok, for a pass through place, but not somewhere you would want to stay more than one night. Shower was good, and was only redeeming feature. Generally property is dark and dingy. We ate there, and the menu was ok, but we weren't offered drinks with dinner. Seemed to be very...

We booked this hotel as it was the only reasonably-priced accommodation near to Yellowstone still available over the Labor Day weekend, so our expectations were not high. It was really good! The room was large and very comfortable, we had a large walk-in shower, a ceiling fan (which was much quieter than AC) and there was lots of storage space....

Really impressed with the Soda Bute lodge. For a budget option the rooms and service were excellent. It's also in a great location to explore north Yellowstone - especially wildlife in Lemar valley. I had lots of success finding bears around Mount Washborn and Dunraven pass.

We stayed one night. The staff were very friendly. Our room was large, and we had a wonderful view of the mountains. The 'lodge' has a large lobby area, a bar and a restaurant. We ate breakfast on site, and it was very good.

We had to book our hotel far outside of the main Yellowstone attractions to get a decent price. This was a typical small town hotel with a rustic country look. The doors creaked, was not set properly so the top stuck, and the hall light shown through the cracks. The bed was tolerable, but I never could figure out if...

Very mediocre motel/hotel. Its location is its only real draw. Rooms were noisy from second floor and wall noises from bathroom area made for not so good a sleep. Rooms were clean but no refrigerator or microwave and NO coffee in room. If you choose to stay, remember it's for it location to Yellowstone NP.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cooke City is situated in the Beartooth Absaroka mountains. Accessible via Montana Hwy 212 Beartooth Scenic Highway, Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy 296 and Yellowstone National Park. Soda Butte Lodge is located on Main Street in the center of town. Our 32 guest rooms are located on two floors of the motel. We are also, the only full service motel in Cooke City with 3-meal restaurant and sports bar full liquor. The large lobby is a great place to relax, by the fireplace or by the windows to "people watch", play cards, read or visit with friends. We are just 3 1/2 miles from the north east entrance to Yellowstone National Park and the infamous Lamar Valley where "wolf watching" is very popular. The area is ideal for wildlife viewing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, 4 wheeling and many photo-ops. Winter in Cooke City is unlike no other. Extreme snowmobiling, snowboarding and cross country skiing at its' finest. Winter, the lodge, is only accessible through Yellowstone Park (Mammoth) or drive over Chief Joseph to Pilot Creek parking lot and snowmobile in the last 9 miles. Our area is rich in the things money can't buy: history, beauty, wildlife and hospitality. ... more   less
