Gardiner is not far from the north entry to Yellowstone. The hotel is located a little further on, across the river from the main part of the township. We were upgraded to a "mountain view" room without our knowledge (these look across the carpark to the distant hills beyond).

Beautiful location..... Although most of Gardiner has great views. Right on the river, nestled among the mountains. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms on 1st floor in the main building have a door to the parking lot as well as a door to the hallway. They offer

Nice clean room. Don't care much for sink being outside of the bathroom. Located on the river and good view of the mountains. They have a breakfast buffet served in the restaurant which is not attached to the hotel. Food was barely warm, which lowered my rating. Hot tub was

Nice hotel, big rooms, great bed, and biggest pillows I have seen at a hotel. Very close to the northern entrance to Yellowstone. Good wi-fi. Hard to sleep at times, with noise from the floor above and outside the room. Breakfast was on par with most motel breakfasts, served in

If you value good customer service and your belongings do not stay here. The stay was fine but I accidentally left my iPad. The hotel quickly confirmed that they had found it and were happy to return it to me. On multiple occasions they have promised to send the iPad back to me

How far from Yellowstone Park Entrance
around 10 minutes to the visitor center and it could take a bit more if you encounter animals on the road

Is it worth it to pay extra for the River versus the Mountain view?
There is not a huge difference in my opinion.

How was the pool? An earlier post said the pool was bad.
We did not see the pool and since we have one at our house, we never use hotel pools. I will say however, that we found this to be a really nice place to stay and the room was nice, clean, and well furnished. The bed and linens were new and nice. Flat screen TV. Don't know why someone said it "left much to be desired". I', a hotel snob and I thought it was very nice!

"Upstairs rooms at back have best outlook. Lower back rooms look on to car park, but classed as view rooms. Front ones all face a wall/fence."
"Be aware river view rooms have about 10-15 steps with no elevator if luggage is an issue.."
"Don’t get a river side room. Too many insects."
"Ask for river view room"
"Get river view room in detached building."
