St. Mary Village Hotel offers an excellent location for those looking to explore Glacier National Park, earning praise for its proximity to key attractions. However, guests have called out the basic rooms, critiquing them as overpriced and lacking modern amenities, while noting occasional cleanliness issues. The hotel's atmosphere combines rustic charm with outdated aspects, and although some travelers appreciate the essential facilities, many feel the overall value doesn't match the high pricing. Service quality received mixed reviews, with some staff members being commended for their helpfulness, despite inconsistencies in housekeeping.

We stayed on the 3rd floor of the great bear lodge. Overall, this was an excellent location for us and the entire St. Mary Village is more like a "complex" - a few restaurants, grocery store, ice cream shop, sports supply shop, gift shop, a restaurant cum bar in the hotel and a nice coffee shop too.
In the absence of the pandemic, this would be a great place generally. Generally, the staff which seemed like college aged students from all across the US, were super nice and friendly.

However, currently there is NO housekeeping while you stay. It is upto you to arrange garbage disposal, coffee and cup replenishments etc. Also they have no housekeeping staff after in the night (after 9PM).

Other than that the wifi is weird. It seems to function only from 8AM to 5PM. During that time it functions quite well. I am guessing they just switch it off in the night out of fear of too much data consumption by guests when they are more likely to be in their rooms and not hiking outside.

Location is great to have access to Many Glacier area and do Grinnell Glacier hike without have to wake up very early. However for $400 a night, you would think that the wifi would be available in every room but it did not work in the evening for room 317. Also the elevators were out of service. Room was small but adequate.

We stayed in the main lodge in a double Queen room (not the superior room though) Sept. 8-11, 2021. We had a great view and small balcony which we really enjoyed. The sliding door had a screen, which really appreciated. The beds were very good and it was a clean room.

The wifi was an issue 1 of the 3 nights we stayed here. The front desk said too many people were using it and there was not anything they could do. It was frustrating, because both of our iphones had been using it the previous day, and then could not get on wifi at all (and there is zero AT&T cell service). This was frustrating, as well as the fact that many restaurants in St. Mary had recently closed for the season, and there weren't enough food options. The places that were open were short staffed we were told. We did eat at the restaurant located in the lodge, and the food and service were good (small and limited menu).

I do recommend staying here, if you can't stay at one of the places at Many Glacier. The location and proximity to the park were great, which helped make up for the fact that our room felt very overpriced. Our room did have a refrigerator (smaller than usual hotel fridge though). If we had paid more for a superior room, we would have had a microwave.

Because of the few restaurant options, I highly recommend stocking up at a grocery store before getting to Glacier. Especially is you have a room with a microwave, so you can prepare a few breakfasts or lunch for yourself. We did have a great restaurant experience at Babb at Glacier's Edge Cafe (had breakfast).

The hotel was a disappointment. The first problem we faced was when we got into the room and saw it was not cleaned properly. The previous guest had left food in the refrigerator and the room key on a table. The grossest thing was to see dirt around the bathroom sink faucets. I had to clean everything thoroughly with Lysol wipes. The 2nd problem we encountered the next day was that the ceiling in the bathroom started to leak and the maintenance person couldn’t fix. What made it worse is that they had to move us from a nicer king size room to a less nicer room for disabled people with 2 queen beds. But even worse was that the new room was also not cleaned properly. Ironically their hotel website claimed that they are doing enhanced cleaning during COVID when both rooms didn’t meet cleaning standards even before the pandemic. The excuse I got when I complained was that they just had reopened and their cleaning people needed more training. That is not a valid excuse. If they are not well trained their work should be inspected closely. The 3rd problem was having to go to the reception every day because our rooms keys would stopped working all the sudden.
At least the on-site staff was not a problem. The reception desk staff was responsive and courteous. They tried hard to respond to my complaints and request. They did the best they could with the ineffective systems and deteriorated/dirty facilities the hotel has. The restaurant and cafe staff were also good. So they have people who could solve the problems if they are given the funds, systems and support needed. Hope they do it soon because the St. Mary’s location is extremely convenient for guests visiting the Glacier National Park.

Messed up reservation. Room has no available AC socket and only two dim lights and the bathroom counter light. Wi-Fi was almost non-existent. By Sept 16 essentially all food and services around were closed. And the lodge food was average at best and pretty expensive. No trash receptacles outside room on property and only one small waste can.

Even considering the value of the hotel location, I expected the accommodations to be much nicer given that the room cost almost $500 for the night (Superior Great The fireplace was broken, several light bulbs were out, there was no microwave and there was mold/mildew in the shower. During our Montana trip, we stayed at four other locations - even one within 10 minutes of the Two Medicine entrance to the park. All cost significantly less per night, included a microwave and were nicer than our room at St. Mary Village. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. There was no bedding or an extra pillow for the fold out couch bed. In addition, the sheets were pilling and felt scratchy, not soft. The doors and walls were very thin. Your employee, Jenny, was the only bright spot during our stay. She was very friendly and her customer service was top notch.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a Trek travel cycling group. It was a great location to kick off a couple of cycling trips in the area. This was our departure point for our west bound trip over Going to the Sun road. It was really nice to be able to ride right from the hotel parking lot without having to be driven anywhere. We also did nice cycling adventure outside the park proper, but still very scenic. We had a nice stay at the hotel. It was quiet and provided a good night’s sleep in a cozy atmosphere. The only problem was that breakfast took an extraordinarily long time and the order was incorrect, which is very stressful when you are about to cycle Going to the Sun road. We were late for the planned departure time which added some anxiety on a day when I didn’t really need extra stress. If you are planning do anything during the day, arrive at breakfast before the restaurant opens.

I would not stay in the Tiny House again because of the cacophony booming from a Beer Garden right next door until 2am. The proprietor played bass heavy music loud and clear for all to hear while the clientele enjoyed themselves at the top of their lungs. Fortunately, the concert was not repeated the second night (a Tuesday night), but I heard from another guest that it had been the same the previous night (a Sunday night). Perhaps the concert is just the weekends, Sundays and Mondays, who knows? But the sound machine I discovered upon checkout in the bedside table suggests that St. Mary Lodge and Resort knows this is an ongoing problem and out of their control. It would have been nice to know about both the noise and the sound machine, though I don't think it would have helped because the big bass was rattling the Tiny House.

It's too bad too. The Tiny House we stayed in is whimsical and fun, if a bit eccentric. There is a small sink and a 2 gallon water supply along with a coffee maker, microwave, and a tiny fridge. There is a semi-private room with a queen bed and a daybed with a trundle in the main area along with a table with four chairs.

The eccentric feature that isn't entirely clear when you reserve the room or check is that the bathroom is not in the Tiny House, but is in it's associated "bathhouse." The bathhouse is nice, rather spacious and well stocked with provisions. This is a luxury outhouse setup, which requires a walk outside of about 30 feet on a concrete walkway.

That walk wouldn't have bothered me much, but we happened to get to see a black bear running between our Tiny House and our Bathhouse when we drove up. The bear was beautiful and delightful to see. But it was a bit concerning that if I, my wife, or daughter were to need to use the bathroom at 4am, we might be having to navigate a surprised black bear in order to get to the toilet. Upon further reflection, perhaps the noise from the Beer Garden was actually keeping us safe by scaring all the wild animal from the vicinity (at least until 2am).

Overall, this place is awesome. It is a little bit more pricey, but we stayed in the sun cabin for one night because of how close it is to going to the sun road, seriously it’s a two minute drive from the cabin to the road. The grocery store is very expensive, try to buy your needs before coming in if possible. The restaurant didn’t have take out options which was a bummer but the cabin was great. It has a cute balcony on the back with a great view of the lake and mountains. The upstairs loft has a big bed and downstairs has a full kitchen and living area with a sofa bed. I would definitely stay at at Mary’s village again but if I had more time to plan I would stay in one of the less expensive units. It was a cool experience regardless.

We booked through the national park booking service. Make certain when booking that you are in the lodge, not the motel! We stayed in the west motel and it was terrible. It is a strip hotel across from the lodge. There was no refrigerator which is a necessity for keeping drinks and food cold for hiking and doing day excursions to the park. The WiFi was useless... could only stay connected for a few minutes at a time. Hair dryer holder was broken so it was just lying in the sink. Sheets didn't fit the bed. Shower was lukewarm at peak times. The only positive was that the beds and bedding were relatively comfortable compared to other park accommodations and the location was outside the park entrance.
