My boyfriend and I were on a motorcycle/tent week long trip. We came across this campground when looking for a place to stay for the night. We didn't get there until 8:30 and decided to get one of the camping cabins for a night. What a wonderful treat! the Cabin was clean and cozy, the bed was comfy and there...

Campground very wooded and big sites. Nice walk to river to view it, but current very strong. No swimming here, ever. Restrooms were clean, but clearly hard water has stained fixtures. Highway 2 is right at the edge of the campground and fairly noisy during the day, but very quiet at night. A train rumbles throughout the day and night...

Wake up to deer in your campsite each day. Great price for full hook ups and great location for seeing the Northwestern part of Montana and places like the Bull river and lake, Car show in Libby. Check out the old styles of life with the new. Great huckelbery shakes and delights.

After dry camping for a week, we needed a hookup and laundry stop. The bathrooms were immaculate. Kootenai River Campground was the perfect stop. The staff was helpful and courteous. If you like lotions and soap, purchase the Huckleberry products in the store. They are wonderful and you'll find the best prices around here. There is a short walk to...

Clean and well organized campground next to a scenic river! Friendly and helpful owners. Great price for full hook up pull-thru shady sites ($27 Good Sam price). Fairly quiet in spite of close-by highway and railroad. Only complaint: slow wifi.

Good trees, good level and spacious sites, easy, friendly check in, good electric, water. Yes we hear a few trains across #2, but behind trees, so its OK. Convenient location right on hiway, so yes some vehicles. Would stop again.

Stayed here on a return trip from Whitefish. Very cozy campground run by a nice family. Had a nice tent site that was pretty quiet in the evening even though road is close (not too busy at night). Bathrooms were well maintained and no waits for them as plenty of showers and sinks. Very nice stay.

Just finished a 30 day Montana/Idaho trip. Our stay here may have been the best value of our adventure. Cabins are wonderful and the host family is better. The family are long time residents of Montana and have great tories to share.

Sue has a nice campground that even though it is close to the highway that is not affected by the highway noise very much at all. There are a lot of big trees and a short walk to the river. Good size campsites, small cabins to rent and a great area for tenters, which are the sites we used. There...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Come stay with us on the beautiful Kootenai River just two miles west of Troy, Montana on US Hwy 2. We offer shady pull-through RV sites with fire pits and grills. A grassy tent area can accommodate either an individual family or group camping. Large, clean restrooms with showers are provided, or stay in one of our charming cabins. The large family cabin accommodates up to seven individuals. Other cabins accommodate two or three guests. All contain refrigerators, fans and heaters. Nightly and weekly rates are available. Sue and Larry Coleman purchased Kootenai River Campground in 2007 and have focused on continually improving the campground facilities. Some of the upgrades from previous seasons include upgraded restrooms, new well for greater water pressure, a solar water pre-heater to ensure hot showers, new fire rings and bbq grills, new picnic tables and new towels and linens in the cabins. An additional large cabin is currently under construction. Kootenai River Campground provides an outstanding travel experience, both for those passing through on their way to another location or for those planning to stay and experience the wonders of this wilderness area. Located on the Kootenai River, the campground and cabins are a fisherman's dream. Brook, bull, rainbow, and cutthroat trout and Kokanee salmon are all present in the Kootenai. Numerous streams and lakes dot the surrounding area where perch, bass, northern pike, and redband trout can be found. Few places offer the variety of outdoor recreation, in a pristine wilderness setting, as this part of Montana. Within a short drive of the campground, a visitor can view Kootenai Falls, Yaak Falls, or walk the trail at Ross Creek Cedars. For the more adventurous spirit, miles of trails in the Kootenai National Forest and Cabinet Mountains Wilderness provide access to remote scenic wonders. Bear, elk, moose, deer, bighorn sheep, owls and eagles all inhabit this mountainous area. A variety of shops, restaurants, attractions, and events in the nearby towns of Troy and Libby, Montana and Bonners Ferry, Idaho are within easy driving distance. Drop by on your way to Glacier or Yellowstone, or make Kootenai River Campground your vacation destination. We look forward to your visit! ... more   less
