Last time I stayed there 4 years ago, also in cabin. The place was as full as last time, however due to coronavirus they implemented some changes. They set up big outdoor kitchen and sitting area where they are serving breakfast and kind of fast food dinner. They fed a lot of people there. As always cabins were clean and same with the bathroom facilities. Heater in cabin worked well, very important when temperature at night goes to low 40.

My husband and I stayed here three nights with our two young children over Labor Day weekend 2020. The staff at the campground are very friendly and efficient. Things are kept very clean and the staff are constantly working and busy, in a good way. My kids enjoyed the playground and gift shop as well as a trip to the pool during our stay.
We had a back-in sight that had really nice tall pine trees shading our spot. All the sites pretty much had the same. The provided fire rings at each site were excellent and it was great that the campground sold lots of firewood. That made it easy!

My only complaint had to do with other guests really, not the campground it’s self. Being such a busy weekend, the campground was completely full, no open spots. Many people came back to their site Or checked in very late and completely hooked their trailer up in the middle of the night, Making it very noisy. The sites are also very tight so there is no privacy. You definitely get to know your neighbors no matter what. But that’s just a known fact of a KOA or any other rv Park, that the sites usually are very close together.

All in all, I would stay again. I would prefer a more secluded type of camping environment but since there are not tons of options like that So close to the park, this is a great option.

We loved this KOA! Our spot was clean and the spots seem to be well maintained! We stayed in spot #253 with full hookups. The dog felt safe and everyone’s dogs were well behaved. The breakfast and bbq and little coffee shop were actually very good and the store has everything you need! We got items for our dog we’d forgotten home. Staff is so helpful, took up to our spot even though it was nearly midnight for our arrival! They also loaned us some towels for the rainy day out. The pool was great for my kids, the pedal buggies and play area were a hit with our smallest! We’d stay here again in a heartbeat!
Spots are packed in, it rained on us, but didn’t notice mud where we were. Lots of mature trees and nice fire pits and such a wide variety of options for camping and lodging! It was midrange in price. Didn’t use laundry or bathrooms, but garbages were conveniently located, and it’s such a close distance to the park. Make sure you go early to avoid sitting in a long line to get in!

Friendly reminder, check all the nooks and crannies of your rv, we brought some stow aways who laid their spider nests on the outside of our camper and drove 250 miles home with them!!

We stayed at the West Yellowstone KOA for 14 days. The second part of this review explains my low review. KOA is located just 8 miles from the entrance of Yellowstone which seems to be the justification for the cost and is surrounded on 3 sides with cows and pasture. Located just off US 20, you will get some road noise, especially if you back up to the highway (we did not). The park is like a small town given the number of rv, tent and cabins and the abundance of workers throughout the park. And if you have kids, there seems to be quite a lot of activities for them, including the large indoor pool.

We were warmly greeted when we arrived and proceeded to our site without escort. We were on the deluxe pull through sites that were terraced on a slight slope. As a result, the leveling of the sites was not great and the best I could find was a 2.5 degree pitch to the drivers side and then had significant leveling to do. The facilities were crowded in the morning and evening (laundry and bathroom) but adequate as were the utilities. They also had a small dog park – the only place with a dog waste station. WiFi was the exception as it was basically useless - was explained to us at check in given the number of people accessing it. There is decent T-Mobile and Verizon signal. I would rate this park a 3.7 comparing it to the dozens of parks we have stayed in during the past year.

Why a one star review? Three days before arriving at the park, my wife had an incident requiring surgery and left her unable to drive the vehicle (which is not towable). Not going into great detail (already provided feedback to the park and corporate), absolutely no compassion was shown for us when asking for a small 48 hour accommodation for our vehicle. And a side note, the overflow lot was basically empty the day we left.

Although I would like to call him out in this review, I won’t but his response was simply this “Make other arrangements (for the car) or stay else where.” Seriously? Obviously did not grasp how difficult this is when dealing with a shattered ankle. Like we planned this to happen, or it is a good thing to move someone with recent surgery, or we have the flexibility during the 4th of July week to pack up and find a new place. So my plan will be to never stay here again in the future and let others know of our experience here. Be sure to read other reviews which have similar negative ratings. They don’t care about the people.

I should have been prepared for this treatment since another customer was in the office indicating he was “demeaned and belittled” by one of the employees for an honest mistake on the check out time. Stayed in a KOA the night before and mixed it up but the employee was aggressive in his verbal beat down. Sad this KOA treats people who stay regularly at KOAs this way.

We booked three nights at West Gate, Yellowstone KOA, months in advance. We had to book two different sites which is usually not a problem but this time the first site had a huge puddle to navigate because of the 9” of melted snow! Again that is doable but the next two nights were to be in a total flooded area (see photos of the many flooded sites) when we asked why they sell these flooded sites knowing they flood and asked to be moved to another non flooded site we were kicked out of the KOA! Voices were never raised and respect was given by us. The staff told us it floods every year. There is no WiFi available, not even in the ‘lounge’. It didn’t work at all. Verizon cell has two bars reception.
The manager, John, was rude and completely unbending and unreasonable. He told us that coming to Yellowstone in May is foolish. For real?! Selling sites in advance that you know will be flooded seems foolish to me.
We went down the road a couple of miles and found Mountainside KOA. They have been great to work with. Their sites are well maintained with gravel and sod, no flooding. And they have WiFi and very nice facilities.

We just left KOA Westgate. This is a wonderful place for families. It's about a 10 minute drive to the West Yellowstone entrance. The stars are beautiful at night and was nothing like I have ever seen before. It's peaceful here and they have everything you need for a great experience. Bring cash for the coffee house and flip flops for the showers. The showers up front are much better than the one in the middle of camp. The cabins are neat and clean. We had a double cabin and it was smaller than expected. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything even outside. The staff is hit or miss. When making arrangements they weren't very helpful at all and I almost stayed somewhere else because of it. Short answers, hung up fast etc... but I am glad I didn't. When I arrived everyone was friendly and all smiles! I have no complaints!! Well worth the money.

I'll preface this by saying that during our RV trip out west, we stayed at 6 different KOA campgrounds in Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota. This location was by far our least favorite. First, the price is insane for what you get. I think we paid over $106 a night for a very small, muddy full hook up site in the very back of the park. The weather while we were there was very cold, it even snowed one day and it was mid-June. The bathrooms seemed dirty, the showers a little on the gross side due to the amount of usage and the lack of several cleaning checks needed each day. The bathrooms were also not heated, so taking a shower was a bit of an uncomfortable experience when it was 30 degrees out in the morning and the cold air blowing into the open door and windows. The park is huge, with many sites, I feel like they focus on quantity instead of quality. If you are planning your trip in advance, I would look elsewhere if possible. On the plus side, the town of West Yellowstone is adorable with little shops along main street.

Staff is great here. The camping spots are separated by trees, have tables, and fire pits. At nighti there are roving security guards to check for problems or assist campers. They have the ability to refill the onboard propane tanks. We had a great stay.

Avoid this place! They have the worst manager who is so offensive! He Says awful things and no service! They have very small sights that are not level and we could not even open our door and back wheels were 6-8” off the ground. After having reservations for a year and driving over 1000 miles to get here He kicked us out because we couldn’t fit. So sad and hard not to let it ruin your vacation. They don’t even care about bad reviews because they can rent the spots anyways. Hope you don’t let it happen to you!
Found a great spot down the road with very very kind people! Not a koa! Corporate Koa couldn’t help us because these franchises are privately owned. Wish the owner cared about what is going on here.
We will avoid Koa’s if we can help it in future because of this.

We came here for 3 nights on our Yellowstone vacation. Our boys ages 9 and 12 loved it. They kept busy with daily mini golf ($1-$2, can't remember exactly), bike rentals, swimming, and the park. There was also a game room attached to the lobby where internet was available and so was laundry. The convenience store had plenty of items and good customer service. We stayed in a camping cabin that was squeezed in by many other cabins. This is a very busy campground with fast turnover. Personally, I prefer less people, but it was fine. The accommodations were clean and efficient. The location is 6 miles from the Yellowstone gates and close.

Sorry, I did not see this until now! There are no microwaves in the cabins. Perhaps the kitchen has one and you can ask to warm food up but I am not positive 100%!

Do they allow campfires or your own bbq?

Yes you can have your own campfire. We chose to cook dinner on our little Weber charcoal grill that we brought from home. But the campfire ring was a nice setup on cement pad and did have grates if you want to cook over those with wood or charcoal fire.
